The Israel Lobby, Paperwork Americans, & the Dark Cloud that is the Iran War

    Image

    Image1,543 words

There is a silver lining to the black cloud that is the ongoing Iran War. Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) assets have been moved from South Korea to the Persian Gulf. How should Americans walk away from South Korea? By any means necessary.

Otherwise, the breakout of the Iran War is a frustrating disappointment. It appears the Israelis have gotten us into yet another desert disaster. (more…)

    Satanic Pedophile Elite Theory

    Image

    Image1,212 words

Years ago, during my brief academic career, one of my students explained to me how the Canadians were taking over Hollywood. At first, I thought that “Canadians” was just a euphemism for Jews. But no, as he continued, it became clear that he earnestly believed that the Canadians were taking over Hollywood, because it was cheaper to shoot movies and TV shows than in Canada.

Around the same time, a friend told me of an encounter with a man who believed that feminism was a lesbian conspiracy. (more…)

Iranians marching in Tehran cheer at an airstrike ahead of them.

    1,530 words

In the run up to the 2026 Iran War, I described how the most straightforward and optimistic path to victory for the US was:

    1. A flawless conventional military victory, followed by
    2. A successful Persian insurrection, followed by
    3. Pahlavi running a corruption free illiberal democracy.

I generously gave each of these conditions a 10% chance of happening, and thus a 1/1000 chance of success overall. (more…)

The Four Philosophers of the Apocalypse

    Image

    Image3,733 words

“Many no longer doubt the possibility of a world crisis. . .” These words seem entirely appropriate for our current interesting times, but were actually written almost exactly a hundred years ago. For the generation which produced the author, the great French metaphysician René Guénon, they would only have to wait just over a decade for their crisis, which took the form of World War 2. What will our crisis be? (more…)

    151 words

Today is the birthday of Gabriele D’Annunzio, novelist, poet, playwright, aesthete, dandy, playboy, war hero, and the first fascist dictator, who from 1919 to 1920 ruled over the Adriatic city-state of Fiume, establishing many of the political and aesthetic forms followed by Mussolini a few years later.

    The Ethnic Phenomenon

    Pierre Van Den Berghe
    The Ethnic Phenomenon
    New York: Elsevier North-Holland, 1981

Pierre Van Den Berghe’s 1981 work The Ethnic Phenomenon is an attempt to assess race and ethnic relations within a social science and evolutionary biology framework, but without the impediment of ideology. That it doesn’t quite reach this lofty goal shouldn’t subtract much from its value—especially in a historical sense. In many ways, it can be considered the missing link between Edward O. Wilson’s controversial 1975 work Sociobiology and more familiar classics of the Dissident Right such as Kevin MacDonald’s The Culture of Critique (1998) and Frank Salter’s On Genetic Interests (2003). The Third World: Second-Hand Modernity

    Image

    Image2,310 words

A society can become technologically modern while remaining intellectually pre-modern. Satellites may be launched into space while superstition governs everyday decisions. The result is not progress but instability—a condition that can be described as second-hand modernity.

How can a society produce seemingly world-class engineers and nuclear scientists while remaining deeply irrational? (more…)

    Operation Epic Fail

    Image

    Image2,014 words

Given their bellicose nature and what is at stake, you would think that Donald Trump, Pete Hegseth, and the Pentagon busybodies would heed Machiavelli’s advice that “A prince should have no other aim or thought, nor select anything else for his study, than war and its rules and discipline.” But the 2026 Iran War shows that they are complete amateurs in the art of war. Iran today is widely recognized as one of the most important scientific centers in the Middle East. In fields such as advanced materials and medicine it has developed a significant research base. The country ranks sixth in the world in nanotechnology output and its biopharmaceutical sector stands among the most advanced in Asia, currently placed fifth on the continent. These achievements are not simply the result of natural resources or temporary policy decisions. (more…)
