A Farm Update!

I wanted to give you an update on our farm adventures...we had gotten 3 "Meat Rabbits" about 2 1/2 weeks ago from a breeder in Albuquerque. We got 2 does and a buck. We decided that rather than caging them (which is such a mess to clean) we would let them live "Colony Style" which means they just reproduce at their rate and burrow rather than use the next boxes. They are living in the goat run with Nutmeg and have started their burrows to prepare for their babies in a couple of weeks!Image There was a slight "cave-in" on this burrow, but we helped them cover it so Nutmeg won't step on it. It's really deep, we couldn't see the end of it!
Image This is the busy doe that has been working like crazy to get things ready. Her sister (who looks exactly the same) hasn't been as involved in the process so we think she will probably just piggy-back on her sisters efforts.
Image This is the opening to the main burrow. In the background you can see the buck. He is much more friendly than the does and will come up to me when I'm feeding and watering. He has been helping dig the burrow.ImageThis is Elphie's nest box (I don't have a picture of Elphie right now!) We have her caged in the laundry room. On the top you can see a ball of fur. Elphie pulled hair from her stomach to put in the nest box for the babies. She gathered all of the hay from the cage to put into the nest box as well. She is such a good mom which is a relief because I didn't think she would turn out to be a very good mom, but she is doing great!
Image Here you can see 4 of the 6 babies that Elphie had. 3 are white and right in the center front is a black one. There are 3 babies that are much bigger than the rest, but all seem to be doing well and growing fine. Their eyes aren't open yet, probably another week and by 3 weeks these little things will be jumping around and won't need their nest box anymore!!! It has been amazing to watch this little miracle happen. I got to hold the babies and they are so tiny, not even filling the palm of my hand. What a fun thing to add to the list of things I've seen in my life! These babies will be ready to go to new homes the week of Christmas...so if you want a cute lop eared bunny call me!
Image This one's a little blurry...but so cute. I love her Messy Ponytails. Her bangs are so long and the hair from the middle top of her head hangs in her eyes, but I refuse to cut bangs all the way back that far on her head. She has learned how to get her hair out of her eyes so for now that will have to do! I wish she'd leave the barrettes and pony tails alone, that would really help!
Image She looks like shes growling at me. Not the case...I just happened to catch it at just the right moment! And just so you know, this girl has 12 teeth with 4 more coming in slowly and painfully. She has a pretty big underbite which will inevitably require braces. She's got the cutest smile though with her tiny little teeth!
Image This was what she wore to church on Sunday. She looked so cute. The headband made it all the way through sacrament meeting and then she was done with it. She wore tights too, but she tries to "pinch" them off. Lately she's been pinching herself and then saying "Ouch". It's pretty funny.
Image This girl discovered the early bowl of halloween candy...she is a sugar baby just like her daddy. Good thing she can't figure out how to get the wrappers off just yet. When she gets really desperate for something sweet she sticks the whole piece of candy, wrapper and all, in her mouth until she can taste the sugary goodness coming through.
Image Because tonight is halloween and it's tradition to trick-or-treat, we will be taking Miss Em. However...she will NOT be getting the bulk of her candy, in fact her daddy will probably be taking it to work to get it out of the house! We will post pictures of her costume later. She is going to be a fairy!
These pictures were taken on Saturday the 25th while Alisa was here!
(By the way Alisa, you never told us not to wait up last night...so here we were with our hopes up waiting for you to roll into town...I guess I'll share you with the Utah gals!)

Just a girl's day!

We pulled out some scrapbook supplies while Alisa was in town and made cards. Before we knew it, we'd been scrappin' for 5 hours!! Time flies when you're having fun. We made over 30 cards between the 3 of us...Emma doesn't count, she just colored on her high chair and my cabinet!!!ImageImage We also made some hair bows for Em. The true test will now be trying to keep them in her hair. They look so cute on her but she's a stinker and likes to pull them off.
Image Love that smile!!!
Image We made 10 different flower clips. I had bought 3 new headbands to match so now she has a flower to go with almost every outfit!

NEW BLOG!

I got grandma Jean blogging! Check out the beginning of her blogging adventure here: http://grandmajeansadventures.blogspot.com

A fun filled weekend!

Alisa came to visit for the weekend. We picked her up in Albuquerque and while we were at baggage claim waiting for her bag to come around the belt, we saw this sad looking red bag and totally made fun of it...ImageNeedless to say...this bag was Alisa's bag! It was totally ripped and there was a note inside from TSA saying they had to search her bag...dang scrapbook items!Image Luckily her underwear was clean and nothing was missing. We sent her home today with a new bag (which made it all the way with no tears!)
We had so much fun...
ImageWe went to a pumpkin patch and corn maze where we totally got lost. Grandma came and she got to take a hay ride to the end where she waited for us, but Emma, Alisa and I went through the maze and got lost...we have a talk prepared for when the time is right about following maps!
ImageEmma didn't so much like the big box of corn to play in. We thought it looked fun but she just wanted out.

ImageThere was a petting zoo which Em loved. She was trying to reach through the fence to touch the animals because she was too short to touch them through the petting area.
ImageThere were a couple of pygmy goats. One was VERY pregnant!

ImageWe both had to use the outhouse which we were totally grossed out about...but when you gotta go...you gotta go!

Happy Birthday & Welcome Grandma Jean!

Well...after a VERY long day of traveling on Monday, Grandma arrived safe and sound in Albuquerque. She had been through 4 airports and 3 time zones in a short 12 hour span. What an adventure! We picked her up and got loaded and headed home. Here is a picture of her room that we set up for her...
Image Yes, she is in Emma's room, but that's because it was the floor that was finished! Ashley and I went in on the bedding together for Grandma's birthday.
Image
Grandma's birthday was the very next day after she arrived, so lucky us, we got to celebrate it with her!!! She requested an oatmeal cake, (which I rescued from a burn disaster after I was distracted by mopping my floor) and we had grilled salmon and salad! Then em and I lit the candles and we all sang happy birthday to grandma. She only got 10 candles...ImageShe seems to be adjusting to things quite well so far. She is getting back some rest that she lost from Monday and she says its much warmer here so that's a big bonus! Today she went to the senior center and played bridge and made new friends.
ImageI don't know what she wished, but my wish is that I get to keep her as long as possible!!! I want Em to get to know this woman that I love so dearly and who she is named after!

Too busy to post!

Sorry for the delay...seriously...I don't know what's with my neglect lately...actually I do and I have a very good reason for not posting more regularly...and to prove it, here is a list of 20 things that have kept me busy or distracted from posting:
1. Nutmeg (our goat) was in heat this week so we took her to have a little date with a Billie. She will come back this weekend and be pregnant and have babies in about February. Truth be told, we are hoping for triplets so we can pick one out of the three to keep and sell the other 2!
2. We moved the nasty stinky cornish hens out to the metal shed...but then felt bad for them because it was so cold so we had to improvise a way to keep them warm. Now it stinks terribly out in that shed but at least they are a little warmer...and they only have about 2-3 weeks left to live!
3. Our Buff Orpington hen "Goldie Hawn" started laying eggs this week!!! We couldn't be more exicted about it. I've found a nice big brown egg every day this week!
4. We got rid of all of our baby cornish that came by mistake last week as well as the other chicks that were "mixed in" with that order. The remaining 6 will be sold this week!
5. Elphie, our rabbit, is expecting a litter of bunnies this week (she's digging now to try and burrow, even though she's in a plastic cage in our laundry room...she isn't going to get very far in digging!) We have listed her for sale on Craigslist and have had a couple of interested parties.
6. We picked up 3 HUGE Rex rabbits today in Albuquerque. They are going to be living in a "colony" setting outside. Two does and one buck. They will multiply like rabbits of course. Their main purpose is for meat!
7. Our cows our nearing their departure date! Todd will assist in that project on November 3rd and he is thrilled about it. (He's hoping he gets to be the one to do the deed...Em and I will be shopping or something else that day!)
8. Grandma Jean comes on Monday so we've been racing around trying to get things ready in her room for her arrival! We are painting the rock on Monday morning for her.
9. Our "employee" Manuel has been working hard to get our floor finished. Our bedroom is nearly done and this weekend he will do my scrapbook room. Grandma's room is done! The kitchen is next on my project list!
10. Todd's best friend John came in town this past weekend and they had a great time hanging out, playing x-box, rock climbing and being guys. I didn't get one picture of that...but just imagine them sitting in front of a big tv...why would you want a picture of that?
11. I sang in sacrament meeting this past week, "Did you think to Pray" and it went well. People in my ward didn't know that I sing apparently and were quite surprised. I found it amusing when they said things like, you should teach music and you should record...HELLO PEOPLE...I've lived in this ward for almost 2 years...
12. I'm writing a musical for Relief Society in January and have been working on some ideas for that!
13. I have been asked to interview as a preschool teacher for a big preschool in town and I would be able to take Emma with me...AND PAY MY WAY TO HAWAII!
14. I've been walking Charlie Brown every day and have lost 5 lbs in the past month! HELLO?!!!
15. I've started selling Scentsy and am loving that. I have my first party this Friday and have been getting my house in order for that. I love the products and love the way my home smells now...maybe I need to put a scentsy warmer near the cornish...
16. I am on the enrichment board and my monthly activity is the Recipe Club. I have a "breads" night coming up in a week. I love this calling. It's just enough to keep me involved, but not too much to make me feel overwhelmed!
17. I've caught the last 2 farmers markets as they are coming to an end for the season. The corn guy is gone, but there are still plenty of other yummy vegetables!
18. Emma had her 15 month check up and got 3 shots. She did good, cried of course, but did good. She weighs 36lbs and has let go of the wall now...for one day that is, she's holding onto it again...but she did crawl for the first time yesterday.
19. We are watching a little boy for a few days and that has taught both Todd and I that we want emma to be driving before we have any more kids...what an adventure....(no seriously...we are waiting until em is out of diapers before we have another!)
20. We are getting a load of crap delivered to our house this weekend...(cow manure) and are working on getting our backyard ready for it. When famine strikes I know you will all be coming to my house!!!
So...now that I've updated you on why I haven't posted...here's a couple pictures of my em...Image She got into my box of tampons one morning and would NOT let this one go. She was so upset with me when I tried to take it away so I just let her play with it!
Image Eventually she got the wrapper all the way off and was having a great time waving the string around! What a girl!

It's True!

Grandma Jean is coming to live with us for awhile. I won't go into all of the details of her situation but I will say that this is a blessing for both her and us to be able to have her here. She will arrive on the 20th. We are frantically trying to get things ready for her. We have a guy finishing the floor throughout the house, I've got most of the things for her bedroom, still have to buy a couple of things. I've made appts. for her to be seen at the dentist office, etc.
We want her to be so comfortable and happy, she should never have had to live the way she has!
Also...just a reminder to those affected, her birthday is the day after she gets here!

So excited!!!!

Okay...so for those of you who wonder what I do in my spare time...I would laugh and say...WHAT SPARE TIME?! However, my friend and mission trainer, Cherina, has gotten me hooked on Scentsy for the past year and I am crazy in love with it...so, I signed up to be a consultant! Now...I know there is a consultant on nearly every street in Utah and Idaho, but I don't live there so this works out for me!
To get things started, I'm having an Oktober Fest party (inspired by my friend and mission comp. Brielle) on October 17th. I am going to give away a warmer and a pack of scentsy bars in a drawing that night to my party attendees, but I thought I would do the same for my blogger friends...so, for every person who purchases $30 or more between now and the 17th, I will put your name in a seperate "blogger" drawing and also give-away a warmer and pack of scentsy bars!!!
HOW TO ENTER: Go to my site and on the homepage on the left-hand side you will see "My Events", click on that and it will take you to a calendar. Click on the 17th "Tiffany's Oktober-Fest Party", then click on "Shop Event". Then sit back and shop...picking out your favorite fall and holiday scents to get your home ready! (May I recommend Nutmeg & Orange Zest! Mmmmmm!)

Todd's New Toys!

Image With heavy heart we bid farewell to our green jeep. It was time to move on and with our "farm" adventures we needed something a little easier to haul hay bales and such around in...so as part of the sale/trade Todd got a new bike!
Image He was honestly like a kid in a candy shop with this bike riding it up and down the street...only he wasn't allowed to ride without gear...

Image So he did some improvising and found some "gear" around the house. He had a silly grin on his face and a neighbor, the mail-lady and the UPS man all had a great time watching him go up and down the street!
Image

Here's our truck we got. Reminds me of when I first learned to drive in the big green truck!
