Missin My Daddy

My Dad got in a really bad accident about a week and a half ago.  He was clearing woods and a big tree branch snapped or something and hit him in the face.  He of course was probably in shock and he said he didn't know what to do, all he knew was he was bleeding bad.  So, he got on his knees and prayed.  And the Spirit helped him figure out what to do.  He pressed the call button on his phone and it called whoever had called him last or who he had called last and it was his work.  A secretary answered the phone and he said "help, I'm bleeding, I'm in the woods."  I'm not sure if he said what woods or if they had to call my step-mom (because she knew where he was), but they went and found him and called 911 on their way.  His nose was broken, sinuses crushed, cheekbone fractured, jaw broken, lip almost gone, and holes in his lip from his teeth.  He had some major pain medicine and was sedated for surgery the next morning.  He got 18 screws and 4 plates in his face.  Dr. said he saved every piece of bone he could.  His lip was all stitched back together and the Dr. may have saved 2 teeth... if they end up dying, he can always get fake ones put in.  My first thought when my step-mom called and told me about the accident was if he was going to be the same person... mentally... would we still be able to talk and joke and laugh like we used to.  So, I asked if there was any brain damage and Joy said the cat scan said no.  I was so relieved, but still couldn't bare that he was in ICU and that he came so close to death.  Had the branch hit any higher, it would've affected his eyes and brain... any lower, it would've hit his neck and his major artery & airway there.  The first thing I did after hanging up the phone was I went and told my girls and we got on our knees and prayed.  Allie seem concerned and said "Grandaddy got ouchies?" and Kailee just broke down in tears.  She is so sweet.  She has prayed for him so often since his accident.  She says "please bless Grandaddy that he'll get better and heal fast so he can play with me this summer."  She even prays for him at meal time.  She asks randomly during the day or in the car if she can say her personal prayers just so she can pray for Grandaddy.  She says them out loud and they are so sweet.  I feel like things happen for a reason.  I don't know what the reason is for this horrible accident, but it certainly has helped us to grow closer to the Lord in prayer lately and has strengthened our love for Grandaddy. :)  The girls picked out fabric paint and I made us shirts in honor of him.  They were soooo proud to wear their shirts and Kailee told all of her preschool friends about Grandaddy and how much she loves him.  I think he was sedated for like 5 days and when they woke him up, he was still all swolen and his mouth still wired shut.  They sent him home on Friday night and I think he got his wires out today and now has rubberbands in his mouth.  They had him start slowly walking and he has a walker so he can gradually regain his strength.  I'm so glad he is on the mend and slowly getting better.  It was the hardest thing knowing that someone you love got in such a bad accident and was in so much pain.  I wished so badly it had happened to me and not him.  Though, you'll never find me with a chainsaw :)  Anyways, just wanted to journal this b/c I think Kailee would enjoy going back and reading about it someday and seeing the proud shirt that she wore.  Pics below!

We went on the Safari Monorail train ride and saw a lot of cool animals & birds!  My favorite was the zebra!  The zebra we saw was as big as a horse and absolutely gorgeous!  We spent about 5 wonderful hours at the zoo and had a great time with our friends.  We got home a little before 4 and napped until 6.  We were exhausted, but it was well worth it.  Allie woke up early this morning and has been recovering all day from her thrown off schedule.  Talk about an emotional, cranky girl.  She took a 3 hr. nap today and then was still cranky.  Maybe tomorrow she'll be back to normal :)  We love the ZOO!!  I'm glad we went in May on a cloudy day!

Mother's Day!

My morning started off with breakfast in bed!  The girls ate at the little princess table Jared put by my bed.  We had sausage, egg, & cheese biscuits w/ o.j. (my favorite!!)  Yum!

Then Jared & the girls gave Mommy a leg/foot massage & pedicure!!
Image
Sounds good to me!!  Kailee said "we should do this every mother's day!"
Image
Kailee also said "when is it gonna be kid day?" lol  Every day is kid day!

Our camera battery died, so Jared plugged it in and took the best pic. he could get!

Jared made me my favorite...mother's day tradition dinner... Chicken Cordon Bleu w/ homemade mashed potatoes!!  And we had some homemade italian french bread from the bread machine too!
Image
We went on a long family walk and ended our wonderful day with milkshakes!!  Extra yummy b/c we used chocolate milk & chocolate ice cream!  Once again, Kailee said "we should do this every mother's day!!"  I agree :)  Thanks Jared for the beautiful roses, the cute cards you helped the girls make, and for cleaning the kitchen all day!!  Love you sugar plum!

Mother's Day Brunch!

Image
My Kailee-pie!  "BFF" as she always tells me :)
Image
My dear friend, Lisa, invited us to a Mother's Day Brunch at her church and it was awesome!  The food there was de-lish!! After we ate, there was worship with wonderful music, a speaker who talked about strengthening mother/daughter relationships, and a craft for the girls to make for their Mommys!  Kailee had a blast and I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with my beautiful daughter and our good friends, Lisa and Faith.  To top off our wonderful morning, there were door prizes...and Kailee's name was called!  We won a $25 gift card to Uncle Julio's and Lisa & Faith won a gift card to another restaurant!  Kailee also got to take home the beautiful vase of flowers on our table.  It was well worth getting a sub for my gym class!!  I was really grateful to have that time with just Kailee & I.  We adore and love Allie, but it was nice to make a special memory with just my special little Kailee!  And while we were gone, Jared took Allie out to breakfast and they made their own memory!  One on one time is always fun!

Mama Bert finished her mission!

Grandaddy & his girls!

Mama Bert finished her church mission in Salt Lake, so my Dad flew out there to help her drive home to NC and of course, they stopped by Texas on the way!!  Wahoo!  We LOVE company!  Four generation picture!

It was so good to see my Daddy and Mama Bert!  We wish Grandma could've come too.

 Allie adored "Gandaddy"

Grandaddy has a special power with girls... it worked on me and it's working on my girls.  He has these magical powers that make little girls want to follow him around and hang on his leg, and beg for piggy back rides, and jump on his lap.  They just love and adore him and want to follow him around everywhere.  Kailee begged to nap with him after figuring out that he takes naps too!!  Look how happy she is!

Mama Bert made us a "pig pickin cake!"  Allie is my little helper!

We went to Jared's soccer game while Mama Bert stayed home with the sleeping girls!  Jared scored 3 goals and they won the game!  My Dad & I did a lot of laughing, skipping, & bootie dancing! j/k  I tried to get him to shake that thang, but he was being shy! lol
Image
When we got home, Mama Bert said they talked to each other for a bit b4 falling asleep and whenever they talk for a bit it's normally b/c they're in the same bed... so I went and checked and sure enough, they were sleeping together.  Kailee is on top of Allie and when I took Allie out from under her, she was covered in sweat.  It was a cute moment and very picture worthy!
