Billy was scheduled to get a pleurx catheter to help with the fluid buildup from his lung cancer.
March 4 early in the morning and he should’ve come home same day.
The surgery went well, but his heart was racing and blood pressure low. So they wanted to keep him overnight.
For some reason the hospital did not have his cancer medication on hand so we had to get that from home in order for them to administer it to him.
They kept him for Three nights and almost into the fourth night before he got discharged.
My brother Billy now has a fib.
Post op he has a visiting nurse, and many many appointments to get to to help him heal.
Today the visiting nurse showed me how to drain the catheter and we went for an x-ray. Tomorrow we go for the postop follow up and hopefully everything will look OK.
He also has to see a primary care doctor, a cardiologist, a podiatrist, and hopefully the primary care doctor can refer him to a wound doctor because the medication he takes is wreaking havoc on his skin on the legs.😞
I don’t know how but sometimes he still has a good attitude about all of this!
Cancer sucks 🙏🏻
