The dahlias are showing off.

And the tomatoes are looking very promising. The roma plants are loaded.

Image

The full sized round tomatoes are doing really well and I have picked some.

Image

Image

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the winter squash plants do not fall victim to vine bores.

Image

And to round things out here are Pretty and Sidney with Martin Frobisher enjoying the overcast morning.

July 2023 dahlias and zinnias

More dahlias are starting to open. This one is called creme de cassis. Usually I don’t remember the name of the variety.

Image

Here is another one that is not as open.

Image

This bushy plant with smaller flowers is coming along nicely.

Image

And the zinnias are producing many blooms. I cut them back quite a bit last week and they have responded with lots of new blooms.

July 2023 vegetable progress

Not much is actually coming out of the garden as far as food. I’ve eaten a couple of cucumbers but my mouth is watering for the upcoming tomatoes and everything else.

Image

Image

Image

The cabbages are starting to look like they will be cabbages someday.

Image

The raspberries are producing and they are definitely edible. And delicious.

Image

There are peppers setting on. And the bed of beets looks very promising.

Image

I have two kinds of beets planted together in this bed. And a few stray dill plants.

Image

Image

Looks like I will be able to eat some more cucumbers in the next day or so. It’s hard to get pictures of them since they are hanging on the back side of the frame angled against the fence.

Image

Image

The okra is definitely close to picking.

And here is a hungry morning Minnie looking for her breakfast.

July 2023 flowers and kitties in the garden

The phlox are starting up in earnest now.

Image

And the lilies are still going. The ones by the barn have a slight yellow tint to them while the ones in the bed near the walnut tree are pure white.

Image

The small red dahlia is starting to bloom and if it fulfills the promise of the blooms it will be a gorgeous bush.

Image

The trumpet vine is well in bloom, but I have yet to see any hummingbirds dining from them.

Image

Image

And here are some lovely pictures of kitties in the garden taken by a friend.

July 2023 zinnias

The zinnias are just starting up and they are looking really lovely this year. I like these flowers for their different colors and because I remember that my paternal grandmother grew these in her garden

These are growing along side the frame that one set of cucumbers will be climbing.

And here is Tiglet enjoying some morning breezes.

June 2023 spotlight on cats: Cousin

Here are some pictures of the handsome boy Cousin. Since Tiglet has become an indoor and outdoor cat, Tiglet and Cousin have become fast friends. Tiglet is the least aggressive cat I’ve ever known and I think that made it easier for them to get on such good terms.

This piece of wood came from the river full of some new smells and ripe for scratching.

June 2023 riotous lilies and rudbeckia starting

These flashy lilies in the front garden bed are putting on a show.

Image

Image

Image

The rudbeckia are just starting.

Image

Interestingly, the yellow roses fade to have these slight blush edges which are so lovely.

Image

Considering that they start with this it is quite a shift.

Image

Image

And of course the kitties are blooming.
