Pale Night

Name: Pale Night

Race: Demon

Age: Unknown

According to certain sources, Pale Night lives in a bone castle which sits on a vast plateau in the Endless Maze of Baphomet, on the 600th layer of the Abyss. She has a strong alliance with Baphomet, the Prince of Beasts, and has lived on his layer since long before he became a demon lord. They do not work together, but each will defend the other’s home from assault. Pale Night’s castle looks like a giant grasping hand and is guarded by ambulatory bones and appendages. She rarely leaves this castle. It is said that those who stumble into her domain become new guardians for it. Pale Night’s form is incorporeal, and she appears as an empty flowing white shroud with the suggestion of a shapely female body underneath. It is said that Pale Night’s true form, as befits a spawn of the Abyss, is so hideous and terrifying that reality itself rejects it. The shroud that she “wears” hides it. To glimpse Pale Night’s true form risks madness and death.

Isle of Sul Pantheon

Isle of Súl pantheon

In the North:

Boreas created the Drow home of Harmattan where the Drow made their home, deep within the damp and humid caves of the mountains. During the great flood years after their arrival to Isle of Súl, the Drow were flooded out of their homes. It was the impure generosity that gave them a new home. Over the course of a few days the lands seemed to change and Boreas created a greater home, a better home for her followers, her servants. However there was one condition. They must keep careful watch and care of the Fungi of Darkness. Most of the Drow learned of this in their reverie and prayers, others learned of it by failing. If the fungus were to be removed in full, the Underdark of Harmattan would cease to exist in its power. All resources would parish. Some say that the natural power of the Drow may also cease to parish. Nobody knows if it is rumor or truth and none have ventured to find out. The fungus looks as nothing more than a mushroom but different, it is blue and glows. Most see it as simple fungi, but some know what it truly is. Some can tell by being open to the power that draws from it. Only those who can see through the veil can truly feel its power.

Boreas is known for North winds- unpredictability and darkness. Such traits suit the Drow personality- cold, unpredictable, and dark. Boreas to the Drow is depicted as a deity of female beauty, yet dark gray skin and eerie in appearance, white flowing hair and a shadow or dark cloud as if floating or shielding what the Drow believe to be spider legs. To others Boreas may be viewed as anything else or the same.
In the South:

Notus created the land of Pali consisting of Port Pali, a central point to Merchants, District of Squall, a small peasant village, and District of Squall South that came about as an added development to these new lands. Notus gifted his followers with a magical artifact. The Artifact is known as the Stone of Immortality. The artifact is not so easily found except by those sly enough to find it or stumble upon it mistakenly by pure luck. The artifact was designed by Notus himself, the God of the South. He is neither good nor evil, and is known for his deception as much as anything else. Port Pali attracts those of piracy and illegal activities and the human life of deception. Just as the deity himself the humans are unpredictable, constant rival to the enemy, and deceptive. On this stone if one looked close enough they would see a blurred image of what appears to be a woman with the mask of a wolf, covering another face that is unseen, yet waves of hair can be seen. Within that hair one would see the tiny image of an odd looking plant, this plant the Fungi of Darkness to any who know. The name of the artifact itself is a deception to the unknowing.

The humans depict Notus as neither male nor female. It is said that Notus is often described as a man made of gold surrounded by a green aura. In other cases Notus is described as a woman of natural beauty and a gold aura surrounding her.

In the East:

Euras’s unpredictable and chaotic nature created the Unseelie land of N’aschi Norte in the mounds of the island, opposite their lighter cousins. The unseelie once lived in shallow caves to the east but after the great flood they too had to relocate further east. During this time Euras deciding he preferred chaos over anything else created the Cursed Ones. The Cursed ones were made from other races and poisoned with darkness and tortured souls. They possess some similar traits to the once upon a time Vampires that roamed the lands, but more powerful. The Unseelie race gained a greater power from their god after the great flood, and a new home was created within the mounds of the island. The unseelie hold some of this power in the Tomb of Lost Souls. This artifact is not simply an artifact but a tree. This tree possesses the power to hold souls trapped until they can be passed on to the ever after. It can shield as a prison to the less fortunate. A piece of bark from this tree can wield a small amount of power to the holder. It can cause the lands to be imbalanced especially if combined directly with the Fungi of Darkness. The artifact’s opposite is the Tree of Life known as the Tree of Glass.

The Eastern God is depicted as an unnaturally tall and thin, shadowy figure with hollow, will’o’the wisps eyes staring out from within the forests and dark mounds. His wings sometimes present and sometimes not- when visible they are tattered and filled with holes like old lace. He happily accepts outcasts and exiled creatures into his embrace, feeling a kindred call to those who are like him- an awkward, misunderstood ‘middle child’. Eura is both capable and drawn to using the power of darkness to manipulate and trick the light of his fraternal and quite opposite twin sister Zephyrus.

In the West:

Zephyrus most notably known as one of peace and tranquility unless angered. She is deity of light breezes and mild weather, usually. Numen and Numen Brisa are lands of green and nature most populated by those of the Seelie and Elves. The two lands once welded together until the last strike of the battle by her jealous brother Euras struck them in two. When this happened a powerful artifact was created in its place. The artifact called the Tree of Glass turned to the shape of a tree from lightening striking the ground when two lands where split the power of lightening and the sand of the island created a glass figure shaped as a tree. It was split in half and half to the elves and half to the Seelie. This artifact gives power over the forests and light of Isle of Súl. It helps maintain the balance of the lands. The unseelie Tree of Souls and the Tree of Glass must coexist to keep the balance. The Seelie protect their half in the mounds of the island opposite their cousins the unseelie and the elves live between the two sides in the forests of Súl.

In any case the Seelie and the Elves live amongst the forests and trees protecting nature as their deity Zephyrus wishes. Zephyrus a goddess depicted as a woman of tanner skin and blond hair created the lands of Numen and Numen Brisa.

Aeolus-Ruler of All

Aeolus the Ruler that broke the lands apart is of neutrality. Aeolus does not favor lawful or unlawful, evil or good. Aeolus tasked his children to learn to live amongst one another. Aeolus is not one to anger but is known to be as equal in wrath as in forgiveness or reward. The Ruler of all is as cunning as predictable or unpredictable. He cannot be lied to or tricked.

Aeolus created a very specific artifact, the Artifact of Unison, to ensure that no matter what the separate deities must all work together to keep the island alive. To ensure that this would happen and the island would remain in existence, Aeolus created a palm sized crystal the color of blood. He hid it somewhere deep in the middle of the island. Aeolus took something from each race and placed it inside this crystal. To keep it protected he took the soul of a siren and trapped her within a bubble around this crystal. Any who could get past the siren song without falling under her spell, could access the crystal. Some believe that this is how the Siren’s and other Merfolk came to be within the waters of Isle of Súl. Nobody knows for sure. In time of need the bubble could more easily be broken and the crystal accessed. When one came closer to the crystal and the soul of the Siren they would see a glimpse of each race pass through their minds. Only with this crystal could land be fully restored. If the crystal were to be destroyed all others would be destroyed as well as if they never existed.

Aeolus the ruler of all is depicted neither as male nor female. Aeolus has many physical descriptions depending on the believer’s perception.
The Others:

The others such as the Demons, Vampires, and Lycans landed on the Isle of Súl by sheer coincidence or so it is believed. Some believe the Merfolk arrived when Aeolus forged his Artifact of Unison, having used the soul of a Siren to keep it guarded. Some say the other creatures were born from the odd creatures. It is said the Demons came once released from the abyss and discovered a new land and wanted to take over the lands. The Celestials most recently discovered amongst the masses of beings on the Island of Súl have always been here or had come in response to the dark power taking over the island by the Demons. Others claim that there was no coincidence; they were simply parts of all the other races mixed and matched into a life of chaos with no sure side of neutral, dark, or light. It is unknown to which if any deity they follow. What do you think?

The Isle Of Sul

The Isle Of Sul is a Medieval/fantasy Roleplay Sim in the game Secondlife. This is the story of how it became.

Isle of Súl Creation Story

In the beginning, the island was little more than a blank stretch of land surrounded by endless ocean. The great God Aeolus formed the island as a gift and a test to his children. Potential lingered in every corner and the infinite possibilities gnawed at the great God’s children. Aeolus had hoped to forge a bond between the children, seeing them come together to build greatness on the island… but instead, a great battle ensued. An eternity was spent bickering over ideas, possibilities, and who should be in charge until a great battle erupted from words to blows.

It began in the high skies of Isle of Súl within the planes of the Gods. Winds of each land: the North, South, East, and West, pushed against another- hot, cold, and in between; a great storm of winds from all directions swirling above the fledgling island. The battle so great moved through the planes of the deities and into the world below. The Southern seas turned to a whirlpool as if the angered God’s were tunneling into the black hole of Davey Jones’s Locker. Any ships even remotely close were sucked into this whirlpool as the great winds fought against one another! The creatures of the sea were sucked into the unknown, rocks and plant life ceased to exist but in this whirlpool of black waters. In the skies the winds continued battling and the storm grew and grew. The deities cared little for what they had begun to build together as they battled it out, destroying all traces of cooperation and unity among them.

Aeolus, the neutral and ever-patient, let them fight until he could no longer take the senseless destruction and bickering of the children. A fierce light filled the skies and the sound of the great boom pierced even the children’s immortal ears, freezing them in their combat. In those few moments of peace and silence Aeolus made the decision that each of the children would share one great land yet separate from one another, creating the four directions: North, South, East, and West. What they did with their lands and whom they created or brought to their particular section of the island was up to them. Aeolus was determined to teach them a lesson and enforce responsibility on all four of the deities despite how badly they had failed the original test.

The first to arrive consciously on the island after the first great storm included primarily humans with a few other races. The humans laid claim to the island and as more races appeared. Many loose agreements were made with the Drow, Seelie, Elves, and Humans on where each race would live and that the laws of each land would be followed by all passing through, regardless of race. As more races appear more agreements were made but none were ever permanent, despite the desires for them to be.

The shaky alliances were constructed and each race laid claim to the land they were drawn to. The dark northern forests and caves became Harmattan, the home of the Drow. The darker eastern area and shallower caves became Nasachi’Norte, the home of the unseelie. The lighter side of the island became Numen, the home of the Elves and Seelie. However Euras believing his twin sister had too much land struck lightening right in the very middle of the island now known as the Forests of Súl. This however did not stop Zephyrus. The Elves simply claimed the land now known as Numen-Brisa and the Seelie the land of Numen, simply extensions of the same land, yet split by forests. The humans having been the first to arrive and Merchants by trade claimed the land of Port Pali and District of Squall. Port Pali was placed by the seas and District of Squall just beside it. In six years time the humans built their entire lands up and the other races their sections of land.

On the day of the sixth year the humans moved in officially on their newly discovered island. The other races had come and gone and some more arrived during this time. All was peaceful for some time with the exception of a few pirate problems here and there. Several years after the arrival of these new beings came a great storm. The weather stormed for two weeks straight. The rains poured down from the heavens. It was if it would never end. All the races were losing their resources as the island flooded out. Landslides occurred, the land of Harmattan, Nasachi’Norte, Numen, and the human lands soon became flooded out. The waters rose up to the edges of the forest. Port Pali flooded out and collapsed from within Refugees of all races climbed the hills and mountains for higher elevation. Thunder, tornadoes, and rains carried on and on. Many were lost and no supplies could be delivered as the ships never made it in or out of Port with the high seas. Soon the storm let up and rebuilding could occur. With the help of fast builders and a bit of magic the human lands were restored to stronger and greater constructions. The Drow and Unseelie soon found themselves a new home, and the Seelie’s lands drained out.

After some time as the lands restored there was once more peace, but not for long. Sometime later a great curse fell upon the island. Strange beings from what seemed to be another world found themselves stranded and stuck on the island. This curse stripped these strangers of their memories and anything they once knew. The curse plagued the lands, darkness replaced the sun. Weeks of darkness began to kill the land. The darker races slipped right into the growing chaos with glee. The once upon a time loose alliances began to disappear. The curse was thought to be lifted but was it truly? Was darkness beginning to take over the lands for good?

Take a step into the forest of winds. Walk amongst the Isle of Súl and discover what truth is and what is not….
