Hello, hoomans!
My name is Azraa and welcome to Eggshell Escapism, my blog, previously known as “The Monotonous Diary of A Hijabi”. Reaching the one-year mark, a bit of change felt necessary. Since I am completely ignorant of technology, I have no idea whether all the content from my previous blog was successfully transferred to this or not. But I do have some new ideas for this page, and here’s to hoping that I can make something a little bit more productive and less depressive out of this.
If you’ve been someone who’s stuck with me right from the beginning [Oct 2023], I am extremely grateful to you, and if you’re someone new, welcome to my blog. I am a creature in my late twenties, currently unemployed, unmarried, and completely unhinged as I try to navigate through the murky waters of life.
Let’s start with the title. Broken down, “eggshell” obviously denotes sensitivity/delicacy, while “escapism” explores the idea of immersing oneself in an imaginary universe to avoid reality. Together, they signify my very fragile brain who is able to stay alive only by constantly throwing myself into fictional realms.
Apart from the old content of book reviews, book recommendations, old posts from the past, and all my ranting sessions, I have some new ideas. But it’s going to be a work in progress as I spend some time figuring out the formats and experimenting with a few stuff.
October 2024 is going to be a dull month with zero posts while I play around with the ideas in my head, some of which include:
- An Instagram page – really need to work on the format since I mostly tend to read ebooks and definitely not interested in making a bunch of reels [DONE – check here for the update]
- ‘Ask Azraa’ session – an ask box of sorts where anyone can ask for advise, ARC reader requests, or even start up a discussion about anything
- Newsletter – I know that subscribers get an email notification whenever a new post is published, but I want to make a monthly newsletter of sorts with upcoming posts, previously published posts and all the extras [I have no idea how to do this, although it is pretty similar to my current RECAP series]
- A Podcast – now this is not going to be happening anytime soon, probably at least not for six months or so due to all technical stuff that’s involved, but let’s see.
