So the baptism of Tanya Went so well. It was great. The spirit was overwhelming. Tanya looked so happy that day. you couldn't slap that smile off her face. She is doing so great. She is already trying to share the gospel. I did get her the first time too. We then had another great lesson with Miguel. He is still having a hard time seeing the spirit in his life. But he is willing. He will get baptized I know it. We had our last interviews with Pres. It was really good. he gave a lot of good council. Well thats about it for now. CONVERSION STORY

Washington DC South Mission

Missionary: Elder Thomas Scoble

Date: March 26, 2011

The story that I would like to share happened at the very end of my mission. It was my last transfer and I was just called to be a trainer. It was my first time training and I was hoping not to mess it up. So Elder Aker and I went to the Zone Conference and when we were waiting for everyone else to show up, Elder Karen came up to me with a package. He would not let me look at the front. He was telling me that I need to just open it with out looking. I was all excited that it was going to be something good from home. So I pull out the stuff in inside and it is a referral. I tell you what I was so bummed. I was wanting something good from home. The next day after Zone Conference we went to see if could contact the Tanya Bibb. The referral was from a Gladys Knight Concert. Tanya had just been to one in CA. So we went and knocked on the door and Lexy (Tanya’s 13 year old daughter) came to the door. We asked if we could talk to Tanya. She said that she would go get her. Tanya comes down and asked if we could come in and talk. Well she didn’t have a male home (she is a single parent). Then she asked if we could come and sit in her garage. We said that would be fine. We then have a great first lesson with her and Lexy. She was telling us that she had never been to our church before and that she had a friend in CA that was trying to get her to go. We asked her if she would come to church next Sunday. She said that she would be there. We told her that we would call her to reminder her. She came to church and loved it. Our next appt. couldn’t be until next Friday. Tanya works in CA all week long. So that means that she flies back and forth every week. She leaves every Sunday and comes home on every Friday morning. She only has 3 day to spend with her daughter Lexy. We then go to our next lesson with her and it is great. In the lesson she starts to get very emotional. I ask if everything is Ok. “It’s that tone of voice that you are using.” she told me. I then told her that it was not me that it was the spirit. The spirit was very strong in the room. We then asked her to be baptized on March 26, 2011. With tears in her eyes she said that she would be baptized. The Joy that filled my heart I can’t describe. We asked Tanya if she would come to a baptism happening the next day in the Massaponax. It was Gabrielle. Elder Ditty and I had found her and she was getting baptized. She did and she was making friends with everyone there. She was acting like a member already. She was passing out things and was even helping to clean up. Then after the baptism she was telling us that they (the people speaking) were using that tone of voice too. I again told her it was the spirit. She again got very emotional. The next lessons that we had with her were great. She told us that we were her 3rd set of missionaries. She had some things that were holding her back before. She told us that it was about blacks in our church. She didn’t think that our church let black people in. That all went away after she had gone to that Gladys Knight Concert and heard her bare her testimony about the church. She thought if she is Ok with this church then why can’t I. She was so ready to have the Gospel in her life. It just took one testimony of another to help her over come. She is now a baptized member of the church and is doing great. The baptism was so strong. There was a lot of people that come to support Tanya. I feel Lexy was feeling the spirit too. Lexy is not baptized yet. She will be some day. I know that this church is true and that God knows us all. God loves us all and knows us by name. I love my mission and all that I have learned. The things that I have experienced can never be taken away or forgotten. I love my heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I love my family and all that they taught me. I love this church and know that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of God on the earth today. I love my mission and would never trade it for the world. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Subject: Now that you are going home you have to
change your Key Indicators. Out here we call them
Lessons back home we call them Dates. LOL

Why hello. how you doin? Things are going great here. We have a lot of good stuff happening. So I had my 2nd to last interview with Prez. It was really funny. He was asking what i was planning on doing when i go home. And so i told him about the Cruise and Disney World. He then tells me that i need to tell him what time and what boat that I'm going on and that he will be there. Then he was telling me that i need to starting thinking about going on dates. That's where the subject line comes from.LOL I couldn't help but smile.Image So we went and helped out at a Eagle Scout project. It was a lot of work. all of the kids were just sitting around. I wanted to slap them. Get up and work you pile. After that we went to Tanya's to have another lesson. She is so great. She is just ready to change. Elder Aker shared his whole conversion story. I found out something about him that i never knew. I will not put it in the email. It is too personnel. if you ask me when i come home i might tell you. So Tanya was telling the ward about her Baptism. She love church and kids and church is just full of kids. Then on Monday we went to a converts house and had dinner and a lesson. While we were there the phone rang. so i went and found out what was up. It was one of our members telling us that his Friend that has been coming to church for the last 5 months wants to meet with us. He told him "Well Elder Scoble is about to go home i guess i can meet with him." HECK YES!!!!! Me going home even has it it up side on the work. So we will meet with him on Sunday. Well that's about it for now. I love you all and miss you tons. See you in 2 Weeks.

Subject: Its that Tone of voice that you are using.

So this is a really good story that happened to my comp and I and i wanted to share it with you all. Here it is. So Elder Aker and I received a referral and so we went to go and find the person. Her name was Tanya. When we knocked on her door she just let us right in. talk. She had a really good friend that was a member and had talked to about it all the time. So she knew a lot about the church already. We asked her to come to church and she did. The next time we went over we had a great lesson on the Plan. She was feeling the spirit so strong. Then elder Aker asked her to be baptised. She said yes as she started to tear up. I then asked her to be baptised on the 26th of March. Again she said that she would. I then asked her what she was feeling and she said it is that tone of voice that you are using. I told her that It is the spirit and that it was not me. It was a very powerful moment. We then asked her to come to a baptism that was taking place the next day. She came and said again that the people that were speaking were using that same tone of voice. I think now she knows that it is the spirit. She is doing great and getting ready for her baptism. I'm greatful for moments like that. It is things like that that make a mission. I love my mission and will be sad to go. I know that the things that i have done here have helped someone in their life in some way or another. I thank God for this chance to be here in the greatest mission on earth. I know this to be true. I the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen. thanks for all that you do. I love you all and miss you tons.

Subject: The things that you are about to tell
me will affect missionaries for years to come.

Hi fam. how are things? things are going great here. we are seeing our invest. move closer to the water every time we meet. So we are still meeting with Tanya and she is doing great. We have her on date to be baptised on the 26th of this month. In the last lesson that we had with her it was so filled with the spirit. As we were going through the lesson she was getting really emotional. And we asked if anything was wrong and she said that nothing was wrong it was just the tone of voice that I was using. I was like what tone of voice. She said I can't explain it. I told her it was the spirit. and then Elder Aker Asked her to be baptised and she said yes. and She started to cry. I then ask to to be baptised on the 26 and she said yes. It was a great lesson. She also came to a baptism of some one that i found 7 months ago. She was helping out and talking to everyone. She was born to be in this church. Then she came to church Sunday too. She is doing soooooooooooo great. So the reason that i didn't email yesterday was because of the meeting that I had to go to. It was another meeting on the new training program. One of the guys that runs the MTC came to talk to us. So He asked us a lot of questions to see what we thought about the program and what we like and didn't like. It was not the bad for us. Then They did the something with our new missionaries. and They asked them much harder questions. Things like "Do you think that you are a better teacher then your trainer?" We were not in the room for the when they were being asked questions. But my comp. told me what happened. He said that more then half of the room raised their hands. He said he didn't. I do believe him. They asked a lot of other questions too. The things that we were telling him is going to change the way all missionaries are trained. They will be starting this new program World wide in August 1st. Well that's about it for now. I love you all and miss you tons.
