Usual spring stuff starts to turn up. Helina evecta muscid:
Saw a Green Woodpecker (Picus viridis). I’d say it became much scarcer here in the last 20 years:

A sunny, warm day, +19° C. Been to Bookham.
Butterfly-wise, saw a couple of Red Admirals (Vanessa atalanta) and several Speckled Woods (Pararge aegeria). Of hoverflies, just Myathropa florea and Helophilus cf. pendulus.
Several Stable flies (Stomoxys calcitrans) were basking on logs:
And plenty of various mushrooms, too! Honey Fungus (Armillaria gallica):

As is usual at this time of year, a Mint patch is the main attraction point for a lot of insects.
Tachina fera tachinids are particularly abundant:

Phasia hemiptera is much scarcer. Male:

Nemophora fasciella longhorn moth, never seen it there! Apparently likes hogweed (which is a prime insect attractant at the moment):
Eliozeta pellucens tachinid fly, a recent addition to British fly fauna, parasitoid of true bugs:

Lots of insects, but surprisingly nothing interesting really! Lochmaea capreae leaf beetle:

Plenty of Mullein moth (Cucullia verbasci) caterpillars on mullein:

A patch of cuckooflower attracted a range of pierid butterflies. Small White (Pieris rapae):
Orange-tip (Anthocharis cardamines) was the most plentiful (cuckooflower is one of its primary foodplants):

Lots of Cardinal beetles. The rarer black-headed Pyrochroa coccinea:
The common red-headed P. serraticornis were frequent:
