And on the topic of grandmas, Quincy decided he was going to call every single person in the grocery store today 'grandma.' It was cute the first time, when he said, 'hi, grandma' to a white haired lady who said, 'you're right, I am a grandma!' Quincy then followed up with, 'love you.' He got so much positive attention from this lady, that I think he decided he should try it on everyone. The next lady who passed was in her 40s and not so excited to hear, 'hi, grandma.' I explained that he seemed to be calling everyone grandma today and she said that made her feel a little better. No matter who walked by, male, female, old, young, Quincy said, 'hi grandma,' and then followed it up with 'love you.' Cute, but a little embarrassing at the same time.

Grandma Fearing
Quincy and I were looking at pictures on the computer and we ran into this one of Grandma on our trip to Florida this past June. The day we arrived, she went into the hospital and was there until the day before we left. I spent a few evenings with her at the hospital and am so thankful for that time with her. I knew we might not see her again, but her death was still quite a shock. She was one tough cookie--I guess deep down I thought she would last forever. We will miss her!

Myra's first day of her indoor soccer league started on Halloween. We kind of had to convince her to try it, but afterwards she couldn't stop talking about it and every time I turn around, she's back in her soccer gear. She just can't wait to go again and asks me every day if it's been a week yet.
Quincy really wanted to be in the picture too. He's wearing part of a cowboy costume a friend recently gave me that will fit him next year. When I tried to get him into a t-shirt so we could go run errands, he said, 'No, this,' and pointed to the shirt, so I let him wear it the whole day. Why not--it's Halloween!
The girls traded their costumes from last year--Myra became Rapunzel and Alice, the Tooth Fairy. Somehow, we forgot to get Alice's wings on that night and forgot her tooth wand as well, but she didn't even notice.
Don't be fooled by the picture--it was in the 40s and drizzling and as soon as we took pictures, the kids went in and got their winter coats on. It didn't stop them from having a ton of fun through. Quincy walked with the girls for about 30 minutes, saying 'trick treat' and 'tank to' (oh, and yelling 'sit!' whenever he saw a dog) then I took him back home to pass out candy. Bruce and John stayed out for another hour with the girls. Poor Samantha had to work, but we sent John home with some candy for her.
Here's Quincy helping me pass out candy.
So, little Quincers is not the first to wear this monkey costume. I actually made if for Alice when she was two years old--see below.
And Myra wore it when she was two.
Do you also notice what Bruce is wearing each time? His 'Man with the Yellow Hat' costume! Sadly, I didn't push him hard enough to get him in it this year. His loss:)
And here's the candy aftermath. Quincy just helped himself to whatever he could get his hands on. The next morning when he woke up, the first thing he said to me was, 'bucket.' He was all set to continue his candy feast with his bucket of candy.
