To say that the German merchant Hans Ulrich Krafft (March 25, 1550—February 21, 1621) got around would be a gross understatement. He documented his travels across Europe and the Middle East and captivity among the Turks in an extensive travelogue, later published under the appropriate title Reisen und Gefangenschaft Hans Ulrich Kraffts.
