Okay so I was told that I was way behind on my blog and that I needed to update it as soon as possible by a few people. The only time was trying to find the time. I couldn't believe how long it had been. So here is a brief recap of the last 6 months.
June- School got out and my little sister Bri came down to help out for the summer. This is the month of Aleksia and John's birthdays and our Anniversary so we decided to head to Orlando. We had an amazing time but can't seem to get away from animals and outdoors. Out of all the things we did there the Fam's two favorite things were the air boat ride and Gator Land, where we all got to sit on a live Gator. It worked out perfect having Bri there. She is such an amazing helper and keeps Leks entertained at all hours.
Leks turned 10 and has grown into an amazing, beautiful double digiter. She also got to share her very special day with her Dad since her day landed on Fathers Day. We enjoyed the day by hanging out by the pool and getting some sun. Her and John entered a contest to see who knew there Dad the best. They won by a landslide only missing one or two questions. John turned ? and enjoyed his day at Gator land. Brax started his new med. but decided to get his front teeth in (which always causes seizures) so we couldn't really track his progress on the seizures. That pretty much raps up June.
July- Talk about a crazy month, we were hardly home. We took Bri and Brax up to Utah on the 30Th of June. We had a fun couple of days with my family. We got to light off some fireworks and visit a few of the fun activities that are around Provo that time of year. Then on the 3rd we headed back home without Bubba to enjoy the Flagranch 4Th of July celebration. Leks was in the pie eating contest but didn't get very far because the pies were still a little to frozen:) I was very happy we didn't end up with a sugar rush.
On the 5Th we headed up to Lake Powell for a week with John's family for the annual Freer gathering. Our friends David and Ashley joined us and we had an amazing time. The weather was beautiful with no storms and it seemed like the kids are finally at the age where they actually enjoy one another. It's amazing comparing the photos from year to year. All the grand kids are turning in to amazing beautiful people.
After the lake we ran up to Utah to grab Brax then headed home for a few days. On the 20Th we were back on the road to Idaho with my family for our first reunion. We've always got together at my parent's house and this was the first time that we all were together outside of Utah Valley. We had a blast and really enjoyed each other. Mary and Ferrel were gracious enough to let us use the cabin in Featherville. We swam, canoed, played in the river, floated the river, fished, played basket ball and just enjoyed being together. It was a very relaxing way to end a hectic month.
On the way home we stopped over night to enjoy a one night stay on the North rim of the Grand Canyon. It is defiantly worth it. We stayed in one of the rustic cabins which meant we had a 1/2 bath and one light. It was pretty rustic and really made you think of how the pioneers felt. It is such a beautiful and peaceful place. We enjoyed an outdoor BBQ and show that was hilarious. Defiantly recomend it.
August- The end of our playtime. Kids started school on the 13Th, Aleksia is in 5Th grade and Brax is repeating 1st grade. They wanted to keep him in the younger grades as long as possible. Brax also got an EEG to see if there was improvement with his seizures. The news wasn't really as great as we wanted, but at least we know that there is one more option out there and more to come.
With the kids back in school, I finally started my training for Imogene. It's a race that is in Telluride, Co. that's 17.1 miles long and starts in Orray, Co. at 7810ft. You run over the pass that takes you up to 13,120ft in the first 10 miles then you run down the last part and end up back in Telluride. Needless to say my days were spent out hiking and running the woods for 5hrs a day. The kids settled into school and John was very supportive dropping and picking me up when he wasn't out working or enjoying the golf course. His golf game really improved and he ended up placing 2ND and 3rd in a few tournaments.
September- The big race was on the 12Th and I ended up making my goal by 1min 17 sec. We went up for 3 nights and enjoyed the beautiful town of Telluride. We had some great friends with us and had a blast. Everything went well except for when I took a wrong turn on the drive home. Let's just say I think we added 4hrs onto the drive WOOPS! Still feeling a little bad about that one...OK maybe not.
The following weekend we went back to enjoy the Lake again with some of our friends. Mary and Ferrel watched Brax for us so we truly got to relax and unwind. I think we set the record for the most time spent out on the speed boat. There was wake boarding, Surfing (which I tried for the first time) u-boarding and tubing galore. Even the Mom's went out on the tube together. Yes we did all survive but it was close. We had an amazing time like always with them and look forward to another faboules trip next year.
When we got home Leks got enrolled in Gymnastics and has loved every minute of it. Also some where in the month she started hip-hop. It is hilarious watching them try to put on an attitude for the dance. Not sure if it is good or bad but Leks is defiantly the one in there with the most attitude in her dancing. She has the sassy little look going on and the body poses for it. We just have to remind her every now and then that the attitude does not carry on outside of the studio :)
October-The first week all the Freer grand kids, except for our two were out of school and came to Flag to em joy conference with all of us. We got to do a few activities with them and went on an amazing hike to enjoy the beautiful fall leaves we have here. I love fall and the changing of the leaves are so beautiful here. It was a very enjoyable way to start a pretty stressful month.
We were one of the fortunate and did end up getting the Swine Flu. Brax had to be hospitalized over night so they could keep an eye on his stats. He did great and thankfully never had to be put on oxygen. Lek's on the other hand got it twice and missed 6 days of school. She was pretty sick but pulled through it and is back to her own self.
John got to go hunting for 10days in Idaho with his Dad, Mike and Malcolm. They had a great time and Malcolm shot an elk while Ferrel was driving John in to Sun Valley to catch a flight home.
Next thing we knew it was Halloween and our time was spent on costumes and parties.
Aleksia was a bumble bee and Bubba was a scarecrow. My friend Elaine and I decked out Brax's chair so it looked like a pile of straw. I never want to see another piece of rafie in my life.
November-Aleksia's class had their school play. They have been studying the Mid-Evil times and ended with an amazing performance. The teachers and kids work so hard for these plays and they are wonderful. The kids learn so much and have a lot of fun doing it.
Brax went to his Orthopedic Dr. and found out that he is possibly going to need a rod in his back. Despite a few set backs he has progressed amazingly. He is more alert, tracking and looking for objects, making choices through eye gaze and is showing more emotions. He lets you know when he is mad as always but has started to show happy emotions like smiling and a wierd expression. On the 15th he amazed us all and turned 8. That was a day I truly thought we would never see. We had a little party with family and friends and Leks decorated his cake. She did a wonderful job and just might take after her Grandpa Oberg.
We celebrated Thanksgiving in UT. with my family and had a great time. We hit a late night movie for the first time in who knows how long and got to meet up with John's mission buddies. There was a lot of family time and Leks really enjoyed playing with my Brother Cam's little boy Easton. He is now 18mos. and her little shadow. They were really cute together. We also got to hit the slopes for a little boarding. On Black Fri. we decided to skip shopping and went the Christmas Carol play out at a playhouse that we always went to when I was younger. It was the perfect way to head into the Christmas season and brought us up to the month of Dec.
So, sorry about the lack of posts for the past few months. Now that your all caught up, hopefully I will do a better job at keeping it that way. Hopefully!
