Information Content Strategy
A.K.A. the missing role between your experts and your audience.
Better charts, cleaner writing, and a prettier design won't get more people to read your technical work. You need a translator who knows how to adapt and repackage your resource, and that's what I do.

Strategic Plans, Theory of Change, and Logic Models
Models and plans that describe how a program or project is supposed to work are foundational products. But the products we create don't always connect with the people who were not in the room.
In this before and after I take an important UNICEF Theory of Change paper and adapt it into a visual and easy-to-read webpage.

Short Reports, Mission Statements, and Executive Summaries
It's not just the long resources that need that something extra. Short, technical, and important resources can also greatly benefit from format changes and systematic illustration.
In this before and after I take the American Evaluation Association's Guiding Principles and show what some icons and quotes can do for the page's readability.

Qualitative and Mixed-Method Data Illustration
If you want to effectively share qualitative data, it needs more than visual summary tables and word clouds.
In this before and after I start with a report built from hundreds of interviews. Then I show you how we can embrace that depth and create an interactive storytelling dashboard.

Quantitative Data Dashboards
Unless you have a ton of data or need constant updates, Tableau and PowerBI dashboards are overkill and counterproductive. It's time to try a different approach.
In this before and after I take the 2025 KIDS COUNT interactive databook and show you how a change in approach can help you share far more data without the overwhelm or lots of clicks.

Frameworks, Toolkits, Courses, and Training Materials
Training resources work so much better when the format and language doesn't get in the way.
In this before and after I start with the latest version of the CDC's Evaluation Framework. Then I show you how a mix of illustration and simpler writing can help the resource shine.

My Story.
I love to learn, but struggle to read.
I got by in school, all the way to a master's degree, because I was good at math and taking tests.
But even after 20 years in research and evaluation, big words, long paragraphs, and no pictures are still the bane of my existence.
My reading struggles pushed me to become a better communicator. I learned how to find the essence of a resource. And then how to restructure the format to make it easier to understand.
Most organizations don't hide their work on purpose, just out of habit. But with the right help, it's far easier to fix than you might imagine.
Let's talk about your resources.
Every resource and audience is different. Share yours with me and I'll tell you exactly what I would do to transform your good resource into a great one.

We worked with Chris to turn a static report into an interactive website that was branded for the client, visually compelling, and centered user-experience. Rather than scroll through a lengthy report, users can easily navigate to what’s most important to them.
I highly recommend working with Chris to transform data products into something useful and engaging. Plus, Chris is awesome to work with!
