Baby check up and THE Name

On Thursday I went in for a check up and another ultrasound. The ultrasound was to check baby's growth from the last 4 weeks to make sure it was consistent. If baby's growth was less than what it should have been over a 4 week period, that would mean baby possibly wasn't growing properly, which would be cause for continued monitoring. Luckily, growth was consistent other the 4 week period. My due date is still August 29th. I also had her double check the gender. You never know, something could have sprouted over that 4 weeks. ;) Baby is still a girl. Good thing too, painting of her room is well underway and I've already purchased matching twin bedding for Shiloh and baby (for when baby is older of course).

Baby's heart rate was 145/minute. I've gained 8 lbs so far (I'm sure you care, right?).

Now for the name....

We have been set on a middle name for a while now. A while back, probably before Cooper was born, my Dad requested that if either one of my sisters or me ever have a girl to use the name Elaine somewhere. Elaine is the middle name of his sister Sandra, who, along with two of her small children, passed away in a horrible car accident long before I was born. So we decided that this baby would have the middle name Elaine.

We have gone back and fourth on the first name. We had several names. Some I liked. Some Jeff liked. Some we both kinda liked. But none that we both LOVED. That is until my friend Jen suggested a name she heard recently, Kenley. Both Jeff and I liked it, but decided that if we did use it we would spell it Kinley. We "tried" that one on for size for a few days, just like we had done with the others. Finally, we decided that Kinley would be her name.

I'm just glad the naming process is done. This one has been the hardest. We normally agree on names pretty quickly and have a first and middle name for a boy and a girl picked out BEFORE we go in for the 18 week ultrasound. This time we didn't. Jeff didn't like that. at. all.

Here's to the rest of the preparations and welcoming Kinley Elaine into our family!

When I die!

This past Monday I got some more painting done in the girls' new room. As I was pouring more paint into the tray, Cooper came in to check on me. The paint can was running out. This is the conversation that followed:

Cooper: "Uh oh, Mom, the paint is all gone."
Me: "That's ok bud, I have another gallon of this same color right over there" (while pointing at the new can)
Cooper: "You are SO smart Mom."
Me: "Thanks, now you remember you just said that the rest of your life, OK?"
Cooper: "Oh I will! I'll remember that even when I die!"

Spring Is Here!

It would appear that Spring is Finally HERE! The weather this week has been wonderful. Mid 60's, sunny, with a light breeze. My kind of weather. If it stayed this temp all summer, I'd be one happy girl. Shiloh has discovered the wonderful outdoors and LOVES it. I can't keep her in long enough to eat. The other day I stuck her on one of the swings, figuring she would hate it since it's an open swing. To my surprise, she liked it and laughed the whole time. Then Cooper came up behind her to give her a little push and ended up pushing her off the swing. Poor thing.

This was just way to cute not to get a picture of. Mason was laying on the floor daydreaming about the next Lego set he wants, and thinks he should get. Shiloh came up and layed down next to him.

Listen to the last thing Mason says. I think I may just hold him to that one.

Easter 2010

Our Easter festivities began on Saturday morning with Pancakes with the Easter bunny at our local grange.

Shiloh was not very happy to see the bunny. Mason was excited because he wanted to say "thank you" to him/her for all the presents he has received for Easter over the years.

Can you see Shiloh all snuggled up to me? Yup, this is what she did the rest of our time at the grange.

Saturday afternoon we colored Eater eggs with the Snell family.

Saturday night the boys left the Eater bunny this note. Mason insisted on it being hung on the edge of the table so the bunny could see it. They also left a carrot and water for the bunny to munch on.

Sunday morning they found this. They got at Beyblade arena and two beyblades to battle with. Apparently this is the new craze!

Shiloh got a whole Easter outfit. A dress, sweater, tights, and shoes.

The Easter bunny also hid eggs for them to find.
Image
After finding her first one, she decided that was good enough for her. Time to eat the candy.
Image
It took a little coaxing, but she finally got back into in and found a few more.

Later in the morning, Grandpa and Grandma Borders came over to give the kids Easter baskets.

Snow in April

On April 4th, (during Spring break) we got between 1 1/2-2 inches of snow. I thought about putting all the snow gear away the day before, good thing that thought didn't translate into action! The boys loved getting out in the snow one last time (hopefully) before Spring came.

This video shows just how fast the snow was falling. In the background is Shiloh chattering. I'm so glad Jeff got that on video, I've been trying for weeks, but every time I turn the camera on, she stops. Naturally.

Random happenings

Image
Back in February, both boys caught a cold. One night while I was gone, Mason fell asleep on the floor at like 6:00pm. This is really abnormal for our kids, they never fall asleep in random places. Hence the picture to document such a monotonous occasion.
Image
Cooper took this picture of Shiloh. So typical. Fingers in her mouth, with a smile behind.
Image
Cooper has successfully taught Shiloh how to be a genuine lazy bum.
Image
In all our spare time during Spring break, when I should have been getting other things accomplished, we were busy building Lego inventions, or eventions, as Mason and Cooper pronounce it.
Image
These two were just too cute not to post of my baby, errr, I mean toddler. She's just the cutest little thing ever. Her big blue eyes are my most favorite, followed closely by the flipped out hair on each side of her head. Happens after bath. And it just wouldn't be a true picture of Shiloh if her fingers were not in her mouth.
