On the 8th I left from Carolyn and Tom's house and headed to the coast.
I stopped at Smith River after seeing it from the road. The water was amazingly clear!!!

THIS is the reason I took this route.... ahhh Redwood therapy....
I stopped in Crescent City, CA to potty the dogs and take a minute (or 60) to enjoy the ocean.
I didn't see a light house at first.... then I saw this sign and looked again....
There it is! WAY out there in the distance!!
And turning the other way, I saw Battery Point Lighthouse.
And yes, I know they are foul, awful, evil birds... they can be very pretty...
And there was a Cemetary there too.... for those who lost their lives when the Brother Jonathan crashed off the coast...

Back over to the other side of the road. I thought this looked cool... I promise they weren't close to falling off the cliff onto the jagged rocks below.... :)

We then continued down the road... the next few shots were taken at random stops along the side of the road... trees + ocean = BEAUTY beyond my wildest imagination....

Then I stopped at this cool little Elk viewing place and saw this guy.... he was pretty amazing....
I arranged to meet Anne Jeffrey in Arcata, CA. I stopped just before Arcata at a "view point" and snapped some photos....
We met Anne and went for a walk at the Arcata Marsh. It was beautiful!!!
