Birthday Hike

We did our annual birthday hike up Little Cottonwood Canyon for my birthday on Monday. As usual it was a fun adventure. We have done this hike as a tradition almost every year since 2004 (before we were married).
We started our hike on the trail to the waterfall and it turned out that the trail has been covered up by the forest service people (if thats what you call them). Trees had been cut down to cover up the trail. Well it fooled us:) We took a wrong turn and ended up bushwhacking it and climbing big rocks to get to the waterfall. It took us about two and a half hours to get to our destination. I was really proud of Calvin's hiking skills and Bryce for caring both boys through a lot of it.
We decided to try and take the trail back. It only took us ten minutes to get back to our car. That is how far we were off the trail on our way to the waterfall. I am really thankful I listened to Bryce because I thought we had to go the opposite way the whole time we were hiking. Bryce has a great sense of the outdoors:) Here are a few pictures.

Last of the Sun

This week we really have been trying to soak up the sun as much as possible. Later in the afternoon it is warm enough to play in the water. The water is a little cold but the boys still loved it. Calvin earned goggles (swim and summer stuff is really cheap right now). They loved the goggles and didn't even want to take them off for dinner.

The Parade

Whoo Whooo.... Honk Honk!! That is the sound of the fire engine the whole parade. Calvin and Simon are lucky enough to have a friend whos dad is a fireman. They called and asked if we wanted to ride in the firetruck for the River Heights Parade. Calvin and Simon had a blast! After the parade, we went to the park for the little fair. The rest of the night Calvin and Simon couldn't stop talking about the firetruck, the horses, and the train.

Simon on the pony at the fair. Of course he had to do it "self" (by himself)

Gone Fishing

Bryce took the boys fishing at Second Dam this weekend. Calvin was so excited to catch fish! Both Calvin and Simon reeled in fish, but neither wanted to touch them after. Bryce had to help Simon but Calvin did it all by himself:) Check out the catch.

Just a Few Things

We have had a ton of fun this summer. We are renting a house in Logan but Bryce has been helping my brother build a house in Park City. So we have been at my parents and Bryce's parents every weekend.
We are now back in Logan and have been enjoying being up here. Here are a few random pictures of fun things we have done.
Image
We have gone to the Logan Aquatic Center almost every day. My boys have turned into fish. Simon loves going down the slide with me. He keeps saying "fast, fast." The last few times he kept saying "self." He didnt want to go on my lap. He wanted to go by himself like Calvin does. He also loved to jump into the water and have me catch him. He kept saying "One more time" and hold up his finger.
Image
Calvin has really turned into a fish. He can swim to me when I stand about 8 feet away. He loves it and wont let us leave when it is time to go... that is why we stay 4 hours every time we go. They let him go down the water slide by himself and the life guard catches him at the end.

Some fun videos. Calvin is crazy. We watch Biking movies that our friend Kevin posts. He gets too many ideas from it. One day I caught him with Simon's bike on top of the couch jumping off. Simon has started lifting his front wheel up and saying "Back Flip." I really hope my kids live to see Elementary School ... at least!
