Calin went to an allergy specialist a few weeks ago to check his peanut allergy.
They did a skin prick test and said he definitely has a peanut allergy. Then they sent us to the hospital for some blood work to determine if he can handle a peanut challenge (which would tell us just how allergic he is). He passed, and we scheduled a peanut challenge.
It took over 4 hours. They started him out with a 1/4 tsp of peanut butter and worked up to a tsp. Then gave him a reeses peanut butter cup and a couple peanut m&m's. He hated it. He was so sick of peanut butter. The good news is itchy ears was the only reaction he had. All day long he was scratching his ears. They told us to give him peanuts or peanut butter a couple times a week so his body will continue to build up immunity to it.
He's still not a PB fan, but I'm sure he'll grow out of that. I'm just so glad we don't have to worry about a peanut allergy with him anymore!
Every month seems to go by too fast. I can never get these posts up before the month is almost over.
Here are some new things for Capri
She has started pulling herself up on things. She loves to stand, and this week I have noticed her trying to stand up on her own. I'm sure it will be months before she does that though.
She's finally started to babble and is becoming quite chatty
She has started to officially crawl. She still does her little scooting inch worm thing, but she'll start out crawling. I think she'll get quicker within a couple weeks and be a full time crawler.
She has two bottom teeth.
She started eating some finger foods, like crackers, puffs, and mum mums. She love them!
She's a good eater. I haven't found a food that she won't eat yet. And she'll finish a whole jar of baby food in less than 5 minuets
When I took her to the Dr the other day for her cough she weighed 17 lbs 12 oz.
This is my favorite dress so far that I have made for Capri. I used this tutorial over at sewinginnomansland.com. I have over 100 tutorials pinned on pinterest for Capri and I've only made about 3 of them. I better get to work :)
Last week I had the stomach flu. Luckily it only lasted a couple days.
But Calin started running a fever and coughing last Friday. And he's still coughing.
We took him to the Dr on Tuesday and turns out he has Viral Pneumonia. Bleck!
30min before our Dr apt on Tuesday Capri starting coughing. Coughing so bad she was having trouble breathing. And when she wasn't coughing, she was wheezing.
The Dr said she might be getting the viral pneumonia or RSV or something. Since it just started, he couldn't tell. If she's not better tomorrow, I'll take her in again so he can check if the infection has gone into her lungs. It's terrible hearing such a small baby coughing like she is.
Jordan left today for a selling trip. On his way he dropped off Kelly, Tanner, Dallin, and Ashlyn at the airport. They are moving to Oregon, and we are so bummed! We've all been here in Idaho together for so many years, that I can't believe they are really gone! And it feels weird to still be here while they aren't. Calin is going to be devastated when he finds out Tanner and Dallin no longer live down the street. But it's looking like we won't be in Idaho much longer either. Maybe only two more months. If so, it's a good thing this winter was so mild, it has helped me have more fond memories of our time here.
I took these videos with my phone last month during Family Home Evening while Jordan's dad was visiting.
My blog has been feeling a little neglected lately. So here is a post on Calin! I haven't posted about him in a while.
I tried to take some pictures of him over at Kelly's a few months ago, but it didn't go too smoothly. He's a typical 2yr old and does not want to sit still (especially when his cousins are playing in the other room)
He's a funny kid and I love how much he learns every day. Everyday he learns at least one new word.
He loves to identify letters.
He loves to count. Usually to 4, but gets to 10 every so often too :)
Words that start with a c sound, like cat, he pronounces with a t. cat=tat car=tar
Sometimes he just drops the first letter altogether, like with Capri. He calls her Pri or Apri
He's starting to put sentences together and I think it's the cutest thing. He mixes up me, you, I alot. He calls other people mom and dad, like Kelly, she's usually always mom. And the other day I heard him call a random guy at the library "dad." Maybe because he was playing with his own kids and they were calling him dad? HA, I don't know. Silly kid.
This week, he started calling me and Jordan by our first names. I think it is hilarious! Especially since it's usually when he's shouting to us from another room. So hearing Calin shout "Kyla! Kyla! Kyla!" "Jordan! Jordan! Jordan!" craks me up. Of course we try not to let him see us laughing :)
Here are some of his most common Words/Phrases/Sentences:
"done touch"
"no, I done wan it"
"one minute!" (for timeout. He likes to put us in timeout. And when he is in time out and we tell him it's over, he usually tells us he need one more minute.)
"Mean!" (I was at the store the other day when lady YELLED at her son, and Calin was staring in shock. I hurried and switched isles before he could yell out "MEAN!!" to the lady, ha that would have been embarrassing)
"Done whine, please."
"I'm tired." "I wanna go sleep"
"mygurt" (gogurt)
"You tare me!" (You scared me)
I'm sure there are lots more, but that's all I can think of right now.
He loves his little sister so much! And now that she can crawl around and play with toys, he's learning to play with her. It's a work in progress, but it's pretty sweet when it works.
When we are out shopping and he sees something pink, he points it out and says "Pri!" :)
He's starting to lable girls and boys. Usually everyone is a boy though.
