The Boys and Their Little Sister

I was a little nervous about how the boys would be with having a new baby sister in the family, after all it has just been the two of them for almost 4 years.  But the boys love their sister, I have not seen a bit of jealousy.
It didn't take long for the Kyler to warm up to his sister, in fact the next day at the hospital he was very happy just to hold her and cuddle with her.

Even watching her sleep is entertaining, Kyler got to pick out her outfit this day.

I caught the boys comparing their feet to Evie's.

I love seeing how the much the boys adore their little sister,
they are going to be the best big brothers ever!

Evelyn's Birth Story

Welcome to the World Little Evelyn Joy!
Image

Yay, we have a girl!  We were so excited for this little girl to enter the world and it seems she was as well.  I was due on September 8th, but I was done, done with the labor pains, done with the indigestion, done with the lack of energy.  So I decided to get induced on Friday the 5th.  The night before I confirmed with Sara that she was okay to watch the boys, got all our bags packed and ready to go.  I woke up at 3:45 a.m. to call the hospital and make sure there was room, they were busy but said eat breakfast, go back to sleep (yeah, right!), and come in at 7:30.  Around 5:00 a.m. I started having labor pains, I have had labor pains before but this time it was different.  I started timing them, they started at 10 minutes apart, then quickly went to 7 min.  We waited until 6:30, but decided it was close enough might as well get to the hospital.  Got the boys up and headed to drop them off at Sara's.  I was still okay to walk and I felt like the contractions were slowing down so we walked from the parking lot to the hospital, and got checked in.  On the long walk to Labor and Delivery, I did have two contractions but I was able to walk them out.

Here is the only pregnancy belly pic I took the whole pregnancy, so enjoy.

After getting in my room things went slow, Nurse Pam asked me all the normal questions, Dr Adam Nickel came in and told me the plan, see if I progress at all and break water around noon.  After being in labor for 5 hours I finally got the epidural and life was good!  The nurse checked me after the epidural, I was at 5 cm so they decided she decided on holding out on the pitocin, which is awesome because I really hate that stuff.   Around 12:30, Adam came and broke my water, I should have told him to stick around because I go very fast, but he hadn't had lunch yet.   15 minutes later, Nurse Pam checked me and I was at 8, so she paged Adam.  10 minutes later I started feeling the need to push, I was at 10 cm.  It was time!  I kept my legs together just waiting on Adam, as soon as he got there I was ready, put on my headphones and started pushing.  One push they saw her head, second her head was almost out and third push she was out!  She came out with the cord wrapped around her torso and arm, but she is great.  Less then 5 minutes or 2 songs and she was out!

Kyler's First Day of Kindergarten

Everyone knows I was not looking forward to to the first day of school for Kyler, one it was all day and two I didn't think he was ready.  Of course Kyler was so excited and was in fact ready for Kindergarten.  A couple of days before school we got to meet Ky's teach Mrs Paulson, she was wonderful!  After Ky met her and warmed up to her so fast I knew as well, that he was ready and that she was the perfect teacher for him.

The First day of school went on without a hitch, Kyler is happy which makes me a happy proud Mama.

On Sunday it was the Primary Program, everyone had a line even the Sunbeans.  All week we practiced Kyler's line "My name is Kyler Box and I am Child of God".  Kyler was the first one to talk so he set the tone for the rest of the kids, he got up and was not even nervous and did awesome.  We were so proud of him.  The program was wonderful the kids did such an amazing job, even my Beehives helped sing, which was so pretty.  Can't wait for next year when both of my boys with be in Primary.

After church the boys wanted to make some Rice Krispy Treats, but of course mom and dad wanted Chocolate.  Here is the recipe for Cocoa Rice Krispy Treats..

On Halloween we met up with our friends the Johnsons and the Leavitts.

First we went to the nursing home and then came back and had some awesome Lasagna (thanks Jill)

We then talked the boys into taking the kids around the neighborhood to do some Trick or Treating, so we could have some much needed Girls Time.

Oral Surgery :(

A couple months ago the boys had to go in any have some cavities fixed.  Logan only had his front teeth but Kyler had to have 4 molars caped, because they are so little the dentist that it best to up them under.  We had to be in Auburn at 6:00 so the boys were pretty tired when we got there.  They gave us some medicine to calm the boys, Logan was first but would not drink it so we had to force it down.  He went in first because his surgery was only going to take an hour.  We couldn't go in with him but they said he did very well and went right to sleep.  Kyler had to wait until after Logan so he had some fun time with daddy running around the very empty building.  When Logan was almost done, we were sent in to prep Ky for his surgery, he was very good taking the medicine with a bribery of toys from the light coin machines.  He as well did very well and went right to sleep.

While Kyler was having surgery, Logan was sent to recovery nothing really happened he slept then whole time, when he did wake up he was super cuddly.  After about an hour he was up and pretty much back to normal.

When Kyler got out of surgery poor thing sounded like a dying animal, he was really out of it.  It took him about an 30 minutes to calm down.  After 3 hours of being there we were ready to go.  Here is a picture of Kyler looking very miserable...

The rest of the day was full of a lot of naps and cuddles

Now Kyler loves his teeth he calls them his Robot Teeth.

And the boys enjoy brushing and flossing their teeth everyday (we have learned our lesson)!
