Array of Elegance Tablescape Luncheon

The Elkhart Auxiliary hosts a fund raiser every year to raise money for a nursing scholarship.  This was our 2nd year of participating.   They also have a style show and lunch and always pack the house  at The Matterhorn.
Our theme was "On Golden Pond" and as always we combined lots of unusual elements for a table anyone could duplicate (and we will on First Friday,  May 4th for our "Pure Michigan" theme).  We'll have a mix of cottage and lodge for a relaxed summer time feeling.

A Big Round of Applause

Truly the best part of being in this business is the people we meet.  When you're passionate about what you do it attracts like minded souls.
We were invited to attend the Earth Day celebration at  IUSB  to celebrate our friend Myles.  As you can see he was awarded the first Student Sustainability award.  We couldn't be happier for him!
Image
Then our friend Sarah from Unity Gardens was also presented an award for all the work they do in the community.

We felt so honored to be in the same room with all these people who truly go above and beyond their jobs to make South Bend a better place to live.

Colorado Road Trip!

Our friend in junk, Judy Akins moved to Victor, Colorado and has been so busy revamping the town.  She has a shop and just bought the old hotel in town and is busy refurbishing it.  If you sell or buy cool old stuff here's a wonderful opportunity!
Oh how we wish we could go!

Mark your calendars for the first annual Junk Mother Lode to be held June 23-24 in historic Victor, CO, at 106 N. 4th St, just under The Olympia Hotel. Vendors from across the country are invited to this juried show featuring vintage wares, one of a kind repurposed items and salvaged treasures.  20 spaces are available on a first come, first served basis, with hotel accommodations included for the first five out of district registering vendors.  2 primo spaces $125 each, 18 spaces $75 each.

If you like rusty metal, weathered wood, chippy paint and reclaimed treasures, this is the place to be.  Be the first in line to grab the best one of a kinds!  Admission is free to the public with free parking, no pets allowed.  Rain or shine, indoor event.

Chinoiserie

Here are just a few pictures from First Friday.  Thank you to all who came,  it was a great crowd.  The Asian theme was such a hit,  we will be restocking the store next week!

The pro's Tina & Suzi from X Pose photo's came and shot lots of pictures, so I'll be sure to share as soon as they arrive.

Our very special guest artist Hiromi Winderquist of Harujion Design made some beautiful handbags with fabrics from Japan.  You have to see them to really appreciate all the hand work that goes into them (hand beaded and embroidered).  The fabrics are reproductions of vintage kimono fabrics.
Image
Hiromi invited some of her friends to wear their heirloom kimono's.  They are passed down from their mother's and treasured.  This one was a beautiful silk.  If the weather would have been rainy she would not have chanced ruining this heirloom.
I love hearing the stories from their homeland and so appreciate every little detail that goes into everything they do.

Children's table and chair set.  The chairs are retro and I designed the table to go with them.  The corners had holes so I made stash bags for crayons, markers etc, easily gathered up with a bead.
