Short snippets of concern

Arsenal's (unexpected) victory over Man United:

I just can't understand how some of the supposedly well educated CLP students in class reacted to Man Utd’s loss yesterday. Some people jeered me as I entered the class because I donned an Arsenal jersey. It seems that in Malaysia it is perfectly normal for a Man Utd fan to gloat all he wants about club glory but not other club fans to merely wear their club colors. A ‘friend’ (quite a loosely used word these days) from my days at KDU actually told me to F&^% OFF after I tried to be nice and said “HI”

I've heard about sore losers but this has surely brought it to a new level! Btw, I'm not sorry I'm a Gunner and I'm sure not sorry we thrashed ur RED DEVIL RED ASS!
"One Arsene Wenger there's only one Arsene Wenger....one Arsene Wenger...."

LRT scenario:

As usual on my way to college, they were a few interesting things to observe from other people in the LRT. In this case, it involved a group of Australian tourists and a guide from Malaysia. When we reached the Kerinchi stop, the guide (whom I'm quite sure has quite poor knowledge of KL) said that 'herein lies the biggest shopping mall in KL'. I thought I was 'direction blind' in KL! Unless there really is a HUGE mall at Kerinchi I don't see where that remark came about. And when we finally came to view of the Mid-Valley Mega-Mall she pointed out enthusiastically to the Aussies the 'best mall in Malaysia'. Safe to say that her Aussie friends were hardly interested to even take a peek!

Lesson of the day for our Tourism Board-
1.Huge malls don't attract that much tourists as you think they do!
2.Beautiful scenery and cultural edifices on the other hand does. The national flood just goes to show how poor our town planning is and what must be done to improve our drainage system and the quality of our environment as a whole. Actually it came as no surprise to me that statistics actually show that there is a DECREASE in tourist arrivals compared to the same time last year!

“Bitchin”:

Another interesting thing that came up while I was talking with one of my former KDU friends now doing the CLP is that she came to the observation that a number of people 'like to bitch behind other people's back'. Apparently the generalization that only girls do the gossiping is no more of much use in today's world where we have equality of the sexes and metro sexual guys.

In the good old days, when men had to resolve issues they had a duel either through the wild wild west style of gunning each other to death or the more dignified sword fight. Today, it seems, the way to get to your hated ones' nerve is to BITCH about his dress style, his poor English accent or simply his looks. I even heard the comment that there was this one guy who was bitching about another GUY'S ASS where it seemed that it was not toned well enough!! Gosh…in my view that is just SO WRONG for SO MANY REASONS!

Of course to settle any disputes I would prefer a negotiation table. But, if I had a choice to settle an argument either by gossiping about someone with the hope that he is irritated to death OR a duel…by God please hand me a sword!

Malaysian Open Glory

Bravo to Tan-Koo for their win! I have to say that for once in a long time we seem to have badminton players of real world beating quality and due credit must be given to this young pair. I'm not too enamored though with the quality of commentary provided by RTM's Hasbullah Awang. I have to say that he did not seem to know much about the basics of the badminton with him often giving wrong views of line calls or shots. Furthermore, I thought he seemed to be overly critical of Malaysian players for no apparent reason. At one point in the 2nd game, he even remarked 'mungkin mereka hilang focus kerana nak balik cepat kot'. Such poor level of commentary surely marred what was a very good win!
