Calvin is Moving on to High School

Image

Image

Calvin had 8th grade promotion last week. It is amazing that we will have a highschool student next year. He is a great student and received several awards. The top honor for him was the Accelerated Math Scholar of the Year. He was listed as 'Most Likely to Work for Nasa' in the year book (He's still not sure that didn't kill his chanced for a decent social life). We are proud of Calvin. He's a great kid.
At the end of the evening the 8th grades suprised the audience with a little dance number. Keep your eye on the back of the group... this is a video, but I can't figure out how to load it properly. Anyone know how?

Tanner and Mom Day

Image

Tanner and Mom had a fabulous day at the zoo recently. He didn't want to go with his class on the field trip to Pike Place again and I had just been there with Parker, so we came up with our own plans. A day at the zoo followed with dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory. I've been trying to spend one on one time with each of our kids.

Scouting

Image Both of our scouts received many awards and rank advancements. Tanner has completed the Wolf rank in Cubs. Calvin has 18 merit badgets and advanced to the Star rank with the BSA. I find it ironic that I get the pins as they move through the ranks, Guy is the parent in our home that really drives the scouting efforts.

Happy Birthday Boys

Image We had a party for our January birthday boys. Gumballs on a cake is a big hit with kids!

PK had his first field trip. We went to the Seattle Aquarium and Pike Place Market.Image

This is the gum wall at Pike Place. Gross and kind of cool at the same time. (but mostly gross!) PK was trying to decide where to add his chewed up piece of Bubbalicious.Image

Scuba diving anyone?Image

School Play

PK and Lauren were both in the school production of Rumplestiltskin this year. Image

Well, we are a lot further along than we were in January. We have about 6 weeks before we have to be finished and we may just make that deadline.

Pony Rides

Parker's preschool class had a field trip to the pony farm last week. He is always happy to go for a ride, and Claire was determined to have turn too.

Calvin turned twelve this week and, as grandpa Johannesen likes to put it, he will be a "Sqeakin' Deacon". He had a great birthday and a fun party with a few friends.

He also received his 2nd class rank in scouting. He is an amazing young man and we are so happy to have Calvin in our family!

So much fun!

We went to California in February and spent six full days in a variety of amusement parks. Disneyland topped the list (of course) but Knott's Berry Farms definitely gets high marks from the Knoblich bunch. We had a great time, but came home exhausted. This was PK's first trip to the Magic Kingdom. He loved it! Too bad was a mere half inch short for most of the really good rides. He was willing to go on everything and was often upset when we (he and I) would have to wait for the rest of the gang while they were riding without him. We've decided not to go back until Claire is 40 inches tall (the magic height). Which means, based on her rate of growth, that we will not be back until our little peanut girl is about six! The trip was a surprise for the kids. It is just so fun to see their reaction when we got to the airport and told them what was going on. The additional thrill for me is to watch Guy having a blast with the kids. It has been a busy couple of years for him, so breaks like this are almost therapeutic. Guy knows how to make a great place like Disneyland even more fun.

Image Disneyland is always a good idea. We really had a great time, and the kids are already talking about the NEXT time we go.

Image Guy and his dad stained the door last weekend. I am really happy with the way it turned out.

The outside of the house is just about finished. We still need to lay the stone on the back and front porches and it still needs to be painted, but the temperature needs to warm up before we can do that.
