Leanelle

Leanelle is our 7 month old baby daughter. We found out at 30 weeks of pregnancy that she has Achondroplasia. We didn’t know what to expect and was very scared. My wife did a lot of research on the internet and we were well informed about our unborn daughter’s condition. The day she was born (25/6/2009) my wife was very scared and I must confess that I was nervous to. But all went well and she is beautiful. She was in ICU for her first 2 days because of some moisture on her lungs luckily that was not critical.

 After a week we returned to Ellisras (Lephalale) and started with more research (my wife). We have another daughter Mianke, she is 4 years old. She accepted he little sister from day one and helps us a lot. We try to teach her that her sister is not going to be the same as us and we need to treat her special. She is really a little star and we hope she continues showing her love and support to Lea.

At six months of age Leanelle got ear infection for the third time, and she got grommets. She had baby measles 2 weeks ago, shame her fever was high and she did not feel good. She is feeling much better now.  

My wife Michelle is one of the most strongest emotional women I know and I love her very much. I know that we still have much to learn about Lea’s condition but I know we as a family will be strong enough to get through it.
