Time for Football!

And just like that, it is time for football already! Football season starts much earlier in this house than in others, and we kicked it off with Cade's football camp the first week of August. He attended with several of his friends from the Weekday School, and it is awesome to know that they still pal around!

The guys (and the most supportive little sister) worked hard and endured rain, humidity, and plenty of heat! Seeing Daddy at the end makes everybody so happy!

And soon it was time for the Cougars' first scrimmage! The offense and defense play each other, and this is our 2nd year to watch it with the Goodletts. The little toddler named Hayden who we met on Neuburg is now a big center playing on the JV. I am so emotional and proud about this, and I can only imagine how it will be when it is our son out there on the field! We love hanging out with the Goodletts, despite the kids' faces in these pictures. Annie had some drama that I do not remember so she shunned us, and Cade and Cole were so focused on the game (and doing their own commentary, as only coaches' kids can do) that they were not interested in my photography session.

Squeezing in a little more family time

We were happy to spend a little more time with family as back to school (really, football) started! Oma and Opa came to visit one weekend, and soon after that the Kunoviches came to Bryan.

Family time these days is not complete without fishing, so we took my parents to Central Park. We had high hopes for success for the guys, but it was just so hot. But they had fun anyway, and the girls went to the playground.

You are apparently never too old to blow out birthday candles, so I was only a little embarrassed that we celebrated my birthday at Spoons! It was actually pretty fun :)

When the Kunoviches came, we had fun at Adamson Lagoon, Jumping World, and our new favorite restaurant, Yoles.

Work, Work, Work

Chance and I never seem to have as much time off during the summer as we plan or as we would like. Fortunately, Cade could hang out with Chance on most days, and Annie likes being with her friends at daycare. But one day she thought that coming to work with Mama would be better than going to school. She was bored after about 20 minutes, but we lasted most of the day! Cade does not mind going to work with Chance one bit... he got to spend lots of time with his football cards, playing football games on the computer, and brushing up on football knowledge by listening to the coaches.

When both kids had to come with me one day, they were rewarded for helping me in the classrooms by getting to play in the self defense room. That room has the best equipment!

While this summer was quite a bit of work, I'm proud to say that our new Science of Health and Fitness textbook is complete! I appreciate Chance and the kids' patience with this long project!

Summer with Friends

We are thankful for the extra time we get to spend with friends during the summer!

One of my former students, who now coaches with Chance, took the Locklear guys out to his land one day to shoot guns and fish. Cade loves hanging out with "big kids".

Image

Cade and Chance went night fishing with the Goodlett guys and had a great time! They caught lots of crappie and got home waaaaay past bedtime. Cade also loved this!

It is also hard to say goodbye to friends, no matter what time of year it is. My friend Johanna took a job teaching and coaching in Willis so she can work with her husband and stay in the same town where her kids go to school. I totally understand her decision, but I will really miss my workout partner and fellow coach's wife! All the girls went up to the office one morning to see Johanna and her kids one last time. We work with the best people!

Cade and Garrett finally got to have their day at Grand Station! They have been waiting for this since the last day of 3rd grade. They rode the bumper cars about 100 times and laughed at at least that many potty words. A perfect afternoon for nine year olds!

Image

We picked up Garrett another afternoon when Cade had to go to dentist, and Dr. Light had plenty of extra hands for Cade's exam that day!

Image

Our friends Cody and Michaela had their baby boy Holden in July, and the kids and I took them lunch one day. He is so sweet! Cade and Annie loved holding him.

Annie's friend Alex turned 4 and had a fun birthday party at Henderson Harbor. A lot of the older siblings are old Weekday School friends, so they had a mini-reunion. Even the mamas got to go down the slide!

Annie was so happy to have Makenna back at school after their long vacation to Ireland!

Pets are friends during the summer, too!

Pool Paradise

Looking back on our summer's pictures, it is clear that we spend LOTS of time at the pool! Our kids love the water, and they get braver each year. We are so thankful that our neighborhood pool is so close and that we can enjoy water fun almost every day!

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Chance and Cade worked on synchronized handstands for quite awhile!

Image

Its fun when we see the Erskines at the pool too! It looks like Annie is giving all of us instructions in the picture where she has her hands on her hips. Actually, she probably was!

ImageImage

Speaking of the Erskines, we had a ton of fun at Garrett's 9th birthday party! They had a huge waterslide that kids of all ages got to use!

ImageImageImage

The kids and I had our annual water day in the backyard. We jumped on the trampoline, did some science experiments, had a major water gun battle, and squirted shaving cream. But the kids seemed to enjoy squeezing themselves into the storage tubs more than anything! It's the little things, I guess!

We have a picture of our family in the Castle Rock pool every summer since Annie was born. Things have changed just a bit in the last four years! Thanks, Mom, for taking all of these pictures! We are somehow missing 2014, but I know we had one then!
