Avila Bike Ride

We did SO many fun things during this trip,
The first of which was a family bike ride down to Avila Beach.
I wasn't so keen on Charly and Dom's mode of transportation at first,
As their chariot was not MEANT FOR PEOPLE.
(Thanks KEVIN!)
But it worked just dandy.
(Once they got used to the bumpity bumpity.)
(Not to mention Mama riding two feet behind them at all times to make sure there were no casualties.)
It was a GORGEOUS, PEACEFUL, GREEN ride.
The best.

The best friends there ever were.
(Besides maybe Maddox and Jesse.)

Of course we had to stop at the beach with out big ol bike entourage.

Grandpa can always be counted on for a swingin good time.

Charly was all tuckered out from just sitting there!
Hard work!!!
(Watching her brother hold her and take care of her on the way back,
Was possibly the cutest thing my eyes ever did see in the history of my world.)

This was the morning after the all night drive to SLO.
I have to say, my husband is a rock star,
At the whole keeping us alive in the middle of the night thing.
The trick is this.
Don't drink caffeine on a regular basis.
Then drink one 5 hour energy,
And one huge mountain dew.
And you're good to go.
(It helps that your wife doesn't sleep all night long, either.)
We have done this trip overnight some 3-4 times now.
And it just keeps getting easier.

We stopped at Denny's in the morning.
It was yummy.
Save the fact that it smelt like someone died in the girl's bathroom.

Fancied Up

Image
Oh, WHY do I get asked to take pictures ALL THE TIME.
(Simply, darling, because you are your mother's cabbage patch.  The End.)

Image
Fine.  I shall give the people what they want.
Sort of.

Image
Last one, people!

Image
More?
SERIOUSLY?!?!

Image
OK, REALLY.
Last one!!!

Image
Now we add the dufuses.

iPhone Randoms

I don't know HOW this boy manages to be so heavenly,
And yet so aggravating at the same time.
He should really learn to market that talent.

Image
This is me,
Pretending to have a moment of solace and peace,
When all the kids are seated directly behind me in the mini-van.
Yah.
Right.

Image
On the way to the BYU volleyball game,
And our road trip to San Luis Obispo directly after!
(We're multitaskers.)

Image
A match made in heaven.

Image
The yin to my yang.
We couldn't be more different.
Yet love each other more either.

Image
Sweet, sweet boy.

I am STILL aching over this one.
Backstory:

My little amazing speller and I just studied for two weeks straight. He was given 450 words....one side of the sheet easy peasy, the other side, not so much.

We went through the easy side in about 10 minutes, and he squeezed out all 225 words without missing a beat.

And then we mastered the other side in the next two weeks. I tested him this morning on the hard side. Didn't miss one. To name just a few....Machiavellian, pusillanimous, ignominious (didn't even know that word existed outside of the Book of Mormon.)

So this morning, he is feeling pretty good about the bee. He won last year, so he is feeling pretty ambitious to go for a twopeat.

Naturally, the judges started off super easy.

The first word he gets.

Order.

Aces it.

The second word he gets.

Owed.

O-D-E, he says.

As in a poem meant to be sung.

Oh. My. Goodness.

I think we should have gone back and studied that easy side one more time, little man.

Lesson learned? It's not always the seemingly hard things about life that trip you up. But the little things. Those sneaky little things. Dadgummit.

He was devastated. (But probably not as much as his mother, watching him be devastated. Someone please help me put my heart back in my chest.)

My current sentiments towards my bangs.
Which I used to hate, then love, and now I hate again.
Ahhhh, fickle females.

Twinkle Twinkle...

This is TOTALLY how cute I imagine myself to be,
When I sing.

Right?

RIGHT!?!?

Who's in CHARGE at the Wiltons?

In case you ever wondered....

The babies obviously HATE it when their brothers come home from school.

Hate. It.

On Your Mark, Get Set, GO!!!!

I love love love,
How the older boys pretend to run fast,
To give brother and sister and fighting chance.

Hop Hop Hop?

Spin, Spin, Spin

Dominic continues to have so much fun at storytime with Miss Sally.
Sometimes she freaks him out with her energy and zest for life.
But I kinda like that:>

Just so we're clear, Charly is freaked out all the time by Sally's zest.

Happy Birthday, Brooklyn!

I really revel when I think about the years and years of embarrassment I have ahead of me.

Spelling Bee Study

Declan loves to help Maddox study.
Maddox LOVES to spend five minutes figuring out which word he said,
And THEN spells it.
It's our secret weapon, really.
If Maddox can get it right under these conditions,
An't nothin stoppin him.

If you were wondering how shopping usually goes in this family....

If I never see another one of these papers in my life,
It will be too soon.
Dam# monkey bars.
No broken bones this time, thank the heavens.
