Taxi Tales – The dark, lights and rain.

I’m traveling from Tororo to Entebbe and it’s a journey by night. It’s my second journey by night to Entebbe lately because of the absence of a farm helper since December 24 of last year.

I left Tororo at 8 pm and nearly 3 am now and I am just about to make it home to Entebbe for another journey to Luwero to take my son to school to begin his A Level education.

It’s been raining for much of the night all the way from Tororo to Kampala, making our journey a little slower and confusing to some passengers. We had hardly traveled twenty kilometers into Busitema Forest Reserve from Tororo when a sleepy passenger asked if we’re at Mabira Forest Reserve, which is about 150km from Tororo.

Another passenger had told the driver that he would be stopping in Bugiri Town, which is about 30km from Tororo but woke up 70km away in Iganga, asking if we’re in Bugiri.

The combination of fatigue for most evening travellers, the dark, flashing lights and rain is a good recipe for poor judgement or just sleeping off, and missing one’s destination.

Challenges

What is the biggest challenge you will face in the next six months?

I don’t know because I don’t know what a day will bring. What I might look at as the biggest challenge in the next six months, which actually is a half of the year, might be very miniscule compared to what future might bring within those months.

It doesn’t mean that I don’t have plans, goals and challenges right now but I am better of focusing on what is before me.

Computer Misuse.

If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

That would be the that I would change in my country Uganda.  It’s an oppressive law meant to gag anybody expressing dissenting opinions against the powers that be.

If anybody has used the internet (computer) to abuse, insult or defame anyone, there are existing laws that can sufficiently handle such matters, e.g laws against defamation that both organizations and individuals have successfully used to seek redress where liberties of expression have been abused.

If I had the power, the computer Misuse Act would be gone this very minute, like Trump signs his things.

I’m not a candy person.

What’s your favorite candy?

Right now I am thinking of Trump, Republicans, and Racism. It’s so repugnant that a liar like Trump should be associated with Truth. He doesn’t understand truth like Pontius Pilate. The only truth about him is that he’s openly racist and my evangelical friends are cheering him.

If the Obama’s are apes, then the Americans who voted him as president and led are probably “monkeys”. I think people with an inferiority complex always look out for some way to put others down to “alleviate” their own insecurity.

He’s not any near as nice as candy might be. He’s very repugnant and there’s nothing truth in his Truth Social.

Work & The Heat.

With the dry season and sweltering heat dragging on the grazing ground has become dry and bare, increasing the need for other sources of pasture and water other than the very little available at the farm. I desperately need a break from the prevailing conditions.

Do you need a break? From what?

For more than a week now, I have had no assistant at the farm and I have to do all the work; cutting pasture, feeding the cows, milking and attending to the fowls. I have been rising up very early and sleeping very late because of the heavy workload.

I have been harvesting pasture daily since the January 31.

I desperately need a break because I have not had a proper rest from a tight schedule since December 24 2025 when I returned home from Entebbe, to be in charge after the farm worker left suddenly. I got a replacement through January but he wasn’t up to the job and left at the end of January.

Starting work at dawn has been the pattern regardless of how I might feel.

I have had much enthusiasm for my work but the body is increasingly asking for a revitalization, that can only come from adequate rest.
