New Year, New Beginning

I have been debating about what to write for the new year. Well, I have finally decided! YAY FOR ME!

This year, I am going to do things for NICKY! I am going to make decisions that will benefit Nicky and if people don’t like that, then tough. 🙂 I am going to try and be a better daughter, sister, aunt, friend, co-worker, roommate, etc. Every decision I make is what I think will be the best to do so! I know there are people that won’t like the things that I do, but my choices are my choices. I have discussed these things with some of the people closest to me and they agree with me.

The last few days, I have had some trust issues! Somehow, some of my accounts that I have were hacked into. I haven’t had the internet at my house the past week or so (until today!), so I haven’t been able to change passwords when I find the problem.. So I have not been a happy camper!

2 new roommates moved into my house! I am so happy! My house is a totally different place! It is so much more pleasant and it totally changes the mood. You don’t realize how people and the way they are can change everything.

The weekend we spent up at Barrett’s for the Christmas party/Max’s birthday was a lot of fun. Max had so much fun with his birthday presents and the kids LOVED the gifts they got for christmas. Not to mention, jumping on the blow up bed! We went out to Aunt Mary’s and saw the cows, and the kids were able to see the baby cows and they put their fingers in their mouths. It was so fun to hear them laugh at that. When we woke up Sunday morning, we woke up to SNOW! Barrett made breakfast and we packed up and left! It really was a lot of fun!

Hope everyone has a good year and I will try and be better at posting, mom told me that I dont post a lot! My mom even has her own blog now, and she has been posting a lot this year, so I need to step it up!

Happy Birthday Max!!!

I know Max’s birthday is TOMORROW, but we are heading up there tomorrow morning for his birthday and I wanted to make sure this was posted!

My Maxwell is turning 2! I can’t believe it! He is growing up so fast. Just 2 years ago they were in Kirksville and we were waiting for that call that he finally came, and he was born with pneumonia, such a fat little boy. Now they are back here in Utah, getting ready to move… AGAIN 😦

This year, it is ALL Thomas the Train! He just LOVES trains!

Happy birthday to Max! I can’t wait to spend time with you on your birthday! Always know that Aunt Nicky loves you! You KNOW I will just maul you with my kisses! 🙂

Christmas Edition

Chantel put this on her blog and so I am putting it on mine. I am NOT a scrooge, so here it goes! 🙂

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper at Christmas time. They have such cool looking paper these days who can resist using it!

2. Tree–Real or Artificial? Artificial.. Thank goodness that I have people in the family that got new trees so I can just use their tree and their old stuff! 🙂 So I haven’t had to get my own YET!

3. When do you put Christmas tree up?The weekend after Thanksgiving.

4. When do you take the tree down? Usually New Year’s Day.

5. Like eggnog? sometimes

6. Do you have a nativity scene? actually, my parents gave ME their old one, but when I was in my apartment in provo, my roommates took it down. so I took it out to Tammy’s.. So I don’t know what she’s smokin’ when she says that they gave it to her! 🙂

7. Favorite gift received as a child? Oh, I don’t remember ever getting a bad gift. My parents always christmas good for us!
8. Hardest person to buy for? My parents.

15. Favorite food to eat on Christmas? Homemade Oreo Cookies. We also have turkey and I love my mom’s cheese ball.

16. Clear or colored tree lights? I really don’t have a preference.
17. Favorite Christmas Song? I LOVE THEM ALL!!

18. Travel during Christmas or Stay home? i like to be with my family… i always remember staying home

20. Star or Angel on Tree top? Either one. lol, you know what dad says about the angel and the smile on her face! 🙂

21. Open presents on Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning and Grandma and Grandpa’s gift on Christmas Eve because it is always pajamas and I am o.k. with opening up mom and dad’s gift on Christmas Eve.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? I don’t have anything that really annoys me at Christmas time. I don’t like the traffic around the malls though so I guess that would be something annoying to me.

23. Do you attend Christmas Eve services? Our religion does not have Christmas Eve services but we do have a Christmas program the Sunday before Christmas. We also have a ward Christmas party.

24. Do you have any family traditions observed during Christmas? We always get pajamas from Grandma and Grandpa on Christmas Eve.

My Thursday Hero!

I had the experience to go with Kayden to the Thursday Hero at BYU yesterday. It is going to be something that I will never forget!

We met at the athletic department to meet our escort for the day. He took us down the hall to see Coach Mendenhall’s office. It was way cool to walk around the athletic department. They have HUGE pictures that cover the whole wall. Tammy carried him down the hall and just looked at the pictures in awe and kept saying “BIU football!” We also got to see the room that the football team meets in everyday at 2:10 for team meetings. The football department even has a big board of the world map with the pictures of the players pointing to where they went on their missions.

After that, we got to see the locker room. Kayden ran up and down the room and jumped on the couch. It was pretty cool to walk past the lockers of the each play er and see what each player has hanging up. It ranged form pictures of their family to game pictures to pictures of Christ.

When we went over to the indoor field, it was amazing to the see the players practice. The builing was huge! I was amazed at how much Kayden got into the football and how he wasn’t shy. Kayden even tackled the escort by surprise! Kayden was happy he tackled him that he had to tell all of us by saying “I tackled him!”

The most amazing and emotional time was once practice was over! The team all huddled together and we walked onto the field and the team all started clapping. You couldn’t help but let the tears flow. Here are these big college football players, and they are telling a 3 yr old little boy how big of a hero he is to them because of what he has had to go through. They gave Kayden a bag of gifts (football, mini helmet, shirt). They also gave Kayden his own BYU football jersey and Coach Mendenhall gave Kayden HIS hat. The team signed a “Y” flag for him and Kayden got to “sign” the teams “Y” flag. Kayden also got to officially end the practice. The team held him up and Kayden counted “1,2,3” and they all yelled “COUGARS!” It was very emotional! Kayden showed off his transplant scar because of the way he was acting, you would have never guessed he was a sick little boy.

When I got in my car to drive away, Kayden had the BYU football in his hand, the hat still on his head and he was wearing his BYU jersey!

This really made his day, or his life! Seeing his face with these football players, PRICELESS! Koy walked up to them, and just stared at them. It was pretty funny.

I just want to tell my sister Tammy, THANK YOU! Thank you for letting me experience this with you guys. Thank you for my little buddy Kayden. I know this was an experience that you wanted Kayden to have, you also need to be recognized that are you MY Thursday Hero! If it wasn’t for you, this little Thursday Hero that was honored, wouldn’t be honored here at this time. You were so determined to do whatever needed to be done to get the transplant (even putting him on the list the day after you had Koy!). This past year has been a long year, but he made it! Tammy, you are my hero!

So, Kayden has his “Y” flag signed by the 2007 BYU football and a U of U football signed by the 2006 U of U football team. How many 3 year old little boys can say that have that?!?!

I hop you had fun Kayden! You are my hero (even if you did get poked, since you had to tell me in front of everyone that you got poked in your arm) Always know that Aunt Nicky loves you!

You will forever be a….    THURSDAY HERO

Happy Halloween!

Today is Halloween!! I have never been much of a Halloween person since I was little, but this year, I decided to dress up. My work does a costume party and it is actually pretty fun. This year we had trick or treating all morning and the different departments had different times to go. It was a lot of fun. Well, my goal this year was to win the costume competition. Me and my old boss from Billing were going to dress up as the BRACA and COLARIS gene (breast cancer and colon cancer) since we thought it would fit since we work at the company that does the genetic testing for those genes. Well, he backed out on me at the last minute. SO, I was going to show him!  lol….

I had talked to people about going as the COLARIS gene and the trainer Marnie told me that she had the perfect costume that would fit. Well, it was a plumber costume. So, I went to work today as a plumber. It was so hot wearing the costume all day… BUT… I WON THE COSTUME COMPETITION!!! I got 1st prize! A $100 gift card to Target! Everyone was really impressed with the costume. They said that it was the personality that pulled it off. I played it off perfect! The local radio station, 97.1 ZHT, was giving out t-shirts for a long “joke” they have had and it just fit the costume so I talked to the DJ’s and I met them at the radio station at 6:00 this morning to get a shirt and I had a plunger and I made a beard out of eye shadow. I just enjoyed Halloween this year.

So, I hope you enjoy the picture!!! 🙂

Big pain in the… head

I am actually posting and it’s not a birthday! My birthday is next week, but I won’t post pictures of myself.. But I will remind you! 🙂

I’ve been getting my migraines again.. They have been really bad! I had an appointment with my neurologist (well, the PA) on the 2nd, it went ok. She ordered ANOTHER MRI! That MRI was on the 4th and it turned out just fine. I was so sick that day. I was so nauseated, couldn’t see straight and I was sent home from work. When they put the contrast in the IV during the MRI, I got even more sick. I have never got sick from it before, but that time, I almost had to have them pull me out of the MRI machine so I could go to the bathroom. The neurologist had me to go the Moran Clinic because they thought that I might have had a pseudotumor cerebri, which is head pressure, and that could be causing my headaches. So my dad came up this past Tuesday and we had a long appointment with Dr. Judith Warner at the Moran Clinic. Of course, everything looked fine. BUT, she said that she can’t rule anything out with the head pressure because both times I had a spinal tap the head pressure wasn’t measured, so she said to have the neurologist do a spinal tap and make sure that they measure the pressure. If it is elevated, that could be the answer to why I am having headaches.

So, for the 2nd time this year, I will be having a spinal tap! It is schedule for Nov.1. Last time I had it, I was lucky and Nancy lived just down the road from me and since I wasn’t able to drive after the appointment, she was with me. She actually took good care of me, let me stay at her house ’til late that night because she was right in the process of moving and Dallas was already down in AZ and she was home alone with Tyler. This time, I don’t have that luxury 😦 My dad is going to come up and I will go down to my parents for that weekend since I have to lay flat for 24 hours, I will just have them do everything for me! (HA HA!)

I have had this migraine for almost a month, so I am really hoping that we can find the answer to why I get them. I even went and got a Toradol shot on Saturday hoping that would help, but no, it didn’t. I sat at the urgent care for over an hour while I heard the dr at the nurses station talking. I was actually ready to walk out and say don’t bill my insurance, I would rather sit at home with a headache then sit here!

That has been my excitement for the month. Trying to sit at a computer for 8 hours a day with a migraine, it’s been tough but I’ve been managing. I’ve actually been able to put in over-time. Thank goodness for my ipod! It helps to put on my music and I am able to ignore everyone! 🙂

Well, I am off to lay down! Now everyone remember, my birthday is next Friday! 🙂 I am expecting lots and lots of gifts! (NANCY, my birthday hasn’t passed yet! ha ha)

Happy Birthday Kayden!

I know I just posted a few days ago, but once again, there is a birthday! It’s Kayden’s birthday! He’s 3!! There has always been a special bond between me and Kayden and I’m not sure why. I can’t believe my little man is 3. He has had to go through so much in his short little life. He is such a strong child! He has started pre-school and he is growing up. I love to talk to him on the phone and hear him say “HI NICKY!!” I hope he has a good birthday!
