Monday night this week we had a neighborhood party and carved our pumpkins for this halloween season. I tried really hard to get PJ into the idea of digging out the pumpkin guts, but he was too interested in our neighbors toys. I decided we'd wait and try gutting it at our own home the next night. Well... my kid doesn't really like that yucky stuff( I mean heck, he wouldn't even dig into his b-day cake) So I cleaned it out and then let him pretend he was scooping stuff out with the scooper. He enjoyed that for a few minutes and that was all he would do.
These are our master Creations -1 b/c it didn't really turn out.

This year we decided we wanted to start a tradition of our own for Halloween. I had remembered from my childhood having apple dumplings around this time of year and got the recipe to make them. (I think our new tradition is going to be Apple Dumplings for Halloween) Patrick and I worked on those this afternoon and then had some friends over to enjoy! We had lots of fun and after we had eaten, I took PJ out for his first trick-or-treat go around!
This is him all ready to go out and impress in his basketball player outfit!
He's a stud...I KNOW!!!
When we first went out he wasn't completely sure what to do and what was going on with all these kids running around looking Strangely funny! So I took him to our neighbor first and showed him how it was done. After that...NO PROBLEMS! He was ready to go and KNOCK on the doors and then eager to pick out his very own treat to put in his bag! Which he really did do... we would go up to a door and I'd cheer him on to pick a certain candy, but then he'd pick the pretzel bag...LAME! Seriously...that happened. He chose pretzels over candy and a popcorn bag!
I was also getting worried that his bag would get a little too heavy for him to carry and that I would end up carrying it for him near the end, but NOPE! He wanted to carry his basketball bag around and he knew he wasn't giving me the bag full of candy! He's a smart little cookie I tell ya!

When we came home, he trick or treated at our house very last and showed Dad, who stayed home to hand out candy, how he learned how to trick-or-treat! Once he was in the house...he was READY to eat the candy, which he had about 5 bags of skittles, M&Ms and so on...
It was tons of fun seeing him learn the new concept of Halloween!
Hope everyone else had a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
