The Trip Home

The road trip home went really well. I started on Sunday the 20th. After having a marvelous “funeral dinner” of funeral potatoes, and ham at David and Kathy’s… I set off to pick up my Dad in Vegas. The drive there was quick and painless…however the stress came when I was waiting to actually pick up my Dad. Last time he came in he got lost and there was no way I could get to him, so I was a little on edge this time. However, he made it safe and sound to the baggage claim. He came prepared with a new little electronic…..a GPS….He didn’t have a clue how to use it, all he new was that this thing was going to get us where we wanted to go without too much trouble.

After using my electronically voodoo on the new Garmin I figured out how to set it to get it point us in the direction of Barstow where we were going to stay for the night. I figured my car-load of stuff would have a better chancing of surviving in Barstow then in Vegas. The trip to Barstow was quick. My Dad was mesmerized at the fact that the Garmin showed every little turn in the road….He couldn’t believed that people could make things like that. I had fun laughing at his new found fascination for 21st century electronics.

The trip took a day and a half. We would have made it on Monday night had we not gotten snowed in at WEED, CA…What a name for a town. Not having had much experience driving in snow it was the most exciting, highly stressful 20 minutes of my life. Snow blowing in sideways and not being able to see the white lines on either side was not fun. After the first 5 minutes….trying not to cry I might add…I told my Dad that I refused to go any further and that I wanted a room for the night! He agreed and we slunk off the road to find the first hotel that we could find. We then were officially snowed in for the night. In the morning however, the roads were fine and we were able to make it home before noon.

This is amazing! I haven't watched anything that has moved me this much in a long time. Maybe its because it has some amazing photographs and artwork that make it amazing. One of the kids in my FHE group brought this as a lesson and it blew my mind. One I was amazed by the spirit of this 18 yr old and was so excited to know that there are young people who have such powerful testimonies that will be able to fight off the evil that is present now days. Anyways enjoy.

School Days

Image
ImageIts school time once again and I've finally found a moment to blog. This semester has been crazy so far and its only the third week of school. Normally I would be excited that school is flying by but lately I've been trying to keep hold of all the time I can. This semester is I'm only taking 9 credits, but I have a senior project that makes up for the lost hours. Luckily for me I have found projects that will count for a couple of projects.

For my senior project I'm working with Eliza to start a daycare with her. I have a lot of projects to go along with this project. I'm going to make design everything from scratch, do the marketing, and make a website....the website is also for my e-commerce class. (should be tons of fun!) I'm really excited about the design work though.

This semester I'm also working on getting my portfolio site up so I can start sending resume's off to companies to get a job. However my creativity for this project is not working very well lately. I'll pull it off though.

Well I'm off to work!

First Day of School

Well again I find myself at the beginning of a new semester....Granted this one is going to be a lot shorter then all of the other semesters but it still means homework....tests....minor stress. However I can bask in the knowledge that I will be completing my very last General Education class....PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!

This summer should be full of adventures if I have anything to do with it. Last weekend Rashelle came down and we went out to the lake....in a thunder and lightning storm. We almost blew clear across Quail Lake on our floaties. It was a workout to say the least to get us back to shore. We decided chilling in Rashelle's hotel pool would be a little less work. Sorry I forgot to take pictures. I'll try to remember.

Also this summer I've got my Ultimate Frisbee day back!!!!!! I'm so excited! Made a lot of new friends and have had fun running up and down the field getting hit in the head, throwing my hip out...although I haven't dove for the frisbee yet but I'm optimistic. That should leave some good war wounds :) I'm just hoping the weather starts to cooporate. No more of this wind stuff :(

Hope everyone's summer is going well. Love reading about your summer adventures. I'll try to do better this summer about posting stuff on here. Life has just been totally crazy for the last half of the year....OH Well what do you do
