It has been a while since I last posted anything to this blog.
I appreciate those of you who have subscribed to this “once-in-a-while” site.
I truly wanted to keep something regular coming, but my life just doesn’t allow for that without an intense and focused intentionality. Excuse? Probably.
I have struggled with whether to keep this blog and domain. I have owned the domain for 20 years, but it seemed like it was getting old. There has never been the traction that I hoped it would gain; and that is most likely due to the infrequency with which I post.
For the longest time I have only put my sermons up here in written form with links to the podcast and the video. None of these three get much traction as far as large participation.
People visit. Some stay through to the end, but most are gone within three minutes.
I truly thought that there was still an interest for biblical understanding. My main thrust as always been “What does the Bible say?” I seldom use it to address current situations, and that may also be a reason for few readers. I try to make application to how we live as Christians, but that does not seem to be something with which people engage.
I was also feeling that the name itself—Practical Bible Teaching—was too limiting. I have begun to desire to address aspects of the life we live, but couldn’t figure a way to include it into this blog.
I realize the Bible addresses just about everything we need for this life, but I am just too much of a linear thinker to bring the Bible into everything I write. Besides, I am wanting to reach a larger audience some of whom immediately turn away from anything “religious.”
I know that I write from a Christian worldview, and that influences what I have to say about anything. But it is just not necessary to give a Bible verse for everything, and I feel like this blog requires that.
Therefore, I bought a new domain and have started a different blog called JUST THINKING: What I’m learning about this life we live. You can find it here.
I’ve not finished putting the blog together, so there is currently no way to sign up for it like some of you have done here. But I would appreciate comments, suggestions and recommendations.
I’ve paid for another year for this domain. Will I utilize it? I would like to think so.
It would probably help if you would give me some feedback on this post.
What are your thoughts about what I’ve shared?
What would you like to see here?
Did you check out the new blog?
Thank you for your consideration and continued support.
One way to help support this ministry would be to buy my latest book—UNIVERSALISM: Fact or Fiction. A biblical exploration of the scope of salvation.
It is available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle editions.
