The only thing I use my blog for lately is an easy link to other people's blogs! Oh goodness... wondering if I should resurrect this blog! Does anyone care to see how adorable my little boy is? Seems like that the main theme in the past! I'll start out sticking to the main theme and then try and add some other happenings.
Carter is one year old! And a stinking cute and amazing one year old if I do say so myself!
Carter's favorite stuffed animal is his Tigger. He used to say Tigger but now he won't just because I told everyone he could. So we threw a Tigger party! I made the fancy cake myself! :) It's chocolate tigger stripes in case you could not tell...
Carter wasn't actually one year old at his party cause we had it a week early so my mom/Grandma Tobler could come. If you didn't already know, my mom has cancer and had to start chemo/radiation treatments. She's doing pretty well but of course cancer treatments are always a pain in the butt! Literally for her! :( One the bright side, my whole family came to Carter's party and we got family pictures.
We had a ton of fun! Wish we could all get together more often! I love my family so much!
So I know every parent says this but babies grow up so fast! Carter makes me laugh every day and he is just so sweet. He must get those things from his dad. He is starting to get a little attitude at times but we don't know where that comes from?
Carter was an early walker. He was taking steps before he even turned 10 months. He really started walking during 10 months. But you know how you envision babies learning to walk and mom and dad sitting a few feet apart and baby wobbling back and forth as they cheer him/her on saying "Come to momma!" Yea Carter would never ever do that. He just would stand up and try taking steps and eventually walking when he felt like it. He's a very determined, independent little boy. So anyway he is almost running now I swear. Makes church exciting and exhausting. I hope my other children will stay babies for a while longer. Eighteen months until they can be in nursery seems crazy!
Carter is a good eater. He likes pretty much everything. Fruits, vegetables, meats, grains, loves anything dairy. He really likes orange vegetables and his pediatrician was asking about that because she noticed he had an orange tint to his cheeks! :) Beta carotene much? Well it's not a bad thing and it matches his hair so whatev. He still breastfeeds 2x a day. I'm trying to wean him but it's been a ton of work to even get him down to two! I'm feeling ready to be done but I think it might take a couple more weeks or a month. Or maybe I'll be nursing FOREVER! It's been great and I'm glad I could and all but mentally I was prepared for a year. But weaning has been a lot harder for Carter than I expected. Maybe it's hard for me too. Anyway probably TMI...
So new things in my life. I have a little garden and I love it! I used to plant a garden in high school with my dad so it's been a few years. It's so fun to watch things grow and eat yummy produce. The eating yummy things hasn't really happened yet but I'm hoping it will soon. I've also starting sweating more at Sweaty Chix. (It's a gym.) I'm pretty proud of myself. I've been getting up at 5:30 to do kickboxing and weight lifting classes. I do yoga one night a week and I wish I could do more but Ryan has school the other night they offer yoga. The classes are really fun and I feel like I'm getting stronger! I've discovered that I really need a social environment to work out in. In high school I loved sports and I did a lot of team sports. Out of high school working out has always been a struggle because it's so boring to work out alone! So even though I don't know anyone in the classes I still like just being around people and having an instructor there that is motivating everyone. Cool beans well if I'm going to punch a bad in a few hours I better get some sleep! I hope you enjoy my few times a year blog posts. I can't make promises it will happen again soon cause I'm lame when it comes to blogging.

Random Pictures of Lately
I was giving Ryan a hard time about how I don't have any pictures of me and Carter. I'm usually the one taking pictures. Well he took one... it's not very good one of me but hopefully in 15-50 years I'll think it looks good.
Carter is getting harder and harder to take pictures of cause he attacks the camera!
One of Carter's favorite activities is playing/talking with himself in the mirror!
I think I'd like it too if I was as cute as him!
See his little teeth?
These are Carter's favorite toys. I don't know why? One is a rattle and one squeaks. He loves them!
They came from his baby shower.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes
Some exciting new developments in the lives of the Hawks.
Carter got tooth #5 yesterday. His vocabulary now includes ba, da and clicking his tongue sound. He is also working to find his high pitch scream of excitement. I love the kid to pieces. It's just not fair that I get to play with him all day.
I got my first job as a Dietitian! It's a consulting position with an assisted living facility in Provo. It's super duper part time which is what I want right now because I love being home with the red headed kid so much! I'll be doing assessments on their diabetic residents every three months which only takes a few hours. I'm also helping them with menus which is a bigger job up front but I can work on that from home as I have time. So basically after I'm done with menus it's only like 3 hours every three months! So anyway I'm happy because it's perfect for me right now and gives me at least some kind of experience actually working as an RD.

What happened to this baby?
He still pulls this face a lot. Especially when he's teething...

Off road baby
Carter had his first experience riding in Grandpa's rhino!
(This was clear back in December when we went to Mesquite for Christmas but I was looking through pictures and wanted to share!)
He was a little freaked out when Grandpa started the engine.
To me this face is a bit worried... But he seemed to like it once we got going... very slowly
Sure do love my little boy!

Picture Story Time
Mr Ryan had a birthday this month. My mom used to always ask us what kind of cake we wanted for our birthday and then create whatever we requested. Ryan requested a dragon cake. I think I delivered...
Carter Clause is such a cutie. He is crawling like crazy. I call him Carter Crazy. He is into everything. He can pull himself to standing already too. I believe this boy is going to be an early walker. He has a lot of determination. I hope that stays with him and he uses it to be an amazing person! So this picture you can see his first little tooth. You can also see part of the new exercise bike Ryan bought for me. Love it! I have wanted one for a while. I love biking. If I has a treadmill I probably wouldn't use it. And now I can getting my heart pumping while Carter naps or while watching a movie. In this picture you can also see my comfy, warm black pants I love to wear and some Costco wipes and a messy house. Ryan made a cute Christmas video you can view here.
I wish I was a cool blogger
I really wish I was a cool blogger. I love reading other cooler bloggers blogs. My husband Ryan is a pretty cool blogger! You should check it out...

I have started writing a private journal blog and have done pretty well. I am just too lazy to copy and paste parts to this blog. Here is a quick recap of the past few months.
-Thanksgiving with the Tobler Fam at Jared and April's house. It was delicious and fun. Would have been better if Ryan, Carter and I were not all sick with a cold virus. We had hoped to spend the weekend with family but instead crashed at the Hawks Bountiful house and used a lot of Kleenex. Carter got over it quicker than us. Maybe he stole my antibodies via breastfeeding? I don't know but I was spent.
-First week of December Carter's first tooth broke through. Pretty much right after his other bottom tooth came through too. He had a hard time teething. Many whining days and nights... fun stuff
-We had Christmas with the Hawks on the 17th. Candle-lite Christmas Eve dinner was delicious. This year's traditional Christmas prank went wonderfully. Christmas was wonderful as always. Carter got 6 month shots a couple days before, plus teething, and then started having flu symptoms. We all brushed it off as teething/shots giving him the runs and a little extra spit up. Little did we know that we would all be in for a real Christmas treat! It was said that Carter pulled his own first Christmas prank by giving pretty much everyone the flu!
-We were pretty worried about going to Mesquite for Christmas. We hadn't had much luck with the Holidays this year! But Mom insisted even though I warned her that the flu can still be contagious even when you stop feeling the symptoms. (I read that anyway?) So we went... Weather was beautiful. Ryan and I went on a couple bike rides. Christmas Eve party with the Weber family was great. So fun to see family and eat Mexican food. Santa brought wonderful things Christmas day. Mom and Dad got a huge-o 60 inch tv from Alisha and her boyfriend Dyrreck! It's massive. But Christmas was great the second time this year as well! And we didn't get sick. But Mom did... hope it wasn't from us but she did catch the same 24 stomach flu thing. :( Sorry if it was from us Mom!
-New Years was pretty uneventful. Ryan tried to buy some sparkling cider but dropped and busted the bottles right outside our door. We were worried it was a sign about 2012. Only time will tell. Luckily Ryan also bought chips and dip which survived the doorway sticky mess.
I must say that 2011 was a pretty big deal so 2012 might have a hard time competing. I really liked that the first day of the year was Sunday. What a great way to start out on the right foot. There were so many inspired speakers and teachers. I truly felt uplifted and motivated to improve my life. One speaker talked about how he refers to resolutions as revolutions. I think that it such a great term because it really is a battle and a process to make real changes. It doesn't happen over night and it takes courage, commitment and a lot of support as well! I have a few revolutions in mind. I would share them but some are kind of embarrassing like be better at flossing my teeth and stuff. (I hate flossing!) Ryan is my flosser model.
We got some family pictures and I tried to do a Christmas card. I'm pretty sure it was an after Christmas card cause I was slow getting it out.
FYI- It was so cold taking these pictures. Like 25 degrees cold. Note to self... don't procrastinate Christmas card pictures until it's 25 degrees outside!

Happenings
So I've been a slacker... time flies when you're having fun! And Carter gets funner everyday!
Clear back in August we went on an awesome trip to Oregon. Here's a few pictures...
Harris Beach
Ryan built an awesome sand castle
Ryan enjoyed his first sunset on the Pacific Ocean
Carter napped on a Redwood tree
It seems like so much has happened since our big vacation! Month 3 brought many changes for Carter! He now giggles, rolls, has found all his fingers and toes AND has lost all his hair!
I know sad about the hair huh.... let's take a moment to remember Carter's hair...
I know sad about the hair huh.... let's take a moment to remember Carter's hair...
So much hair! Once the rolling started he got a major bald spot on the back and sides.
At least he is still smiling and still so dang cute! He has some fuzzy new hair growing already so it's not so bad. Just crazy how fast it changed! People ask, "Did you cut his hair?" "What happened to his hair?"
Well that's just part of the life of a baby I hear. He doesn't let it get to him!
This month Carter took his first trip to Mesquite! Ryan went to Yellowstone for work and we didn't think it would be fun to be home alone all week. Carter had a great time with Grandma Tobler!
We still love BYU even if they let Utah cream them...
We got a little crafty in Mesquite and made Carter and cousin Joshua taggy blankets.
So anywho we've been having lots of fun! We have been working on getting Carter to sleep and nap in his crib. Any tips on getting the kid to nap more than 40 minutes at a time?

I need to blog more but I hope you've enjoyed a few pictures!
