DON’T STOP TALKING ABOUT THE GENOCIDE IN PALESTINE

Image

This is another book from author, and fellow blogger, the lovely Paulette Mahurin, at The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap, who I admire greatly for rescuing countless dogs from kill shelters.

The German occupation of the Netherlands brings with it food shortages, harsh treatment for resistants and deportation of Jews. The changes dramatically affect Rosamond Jansen’s life on her family’s farm on the outskirts of Huizen. When she finds herself under constant surveillance and oppressive treatment in her government typist job and the Nazis deport her best friend, her resentment turns to fear and a deepening hatred. Verbal cruelty, belittlement and emotional turmoil take their toll on her until a man arrives at the farm who, along with her uncle from Amsterdam, enlist her father into resistance work. When her father does not return home, Rosamond, too, is drawn into resistance activity. As more people disappear from her life, her involvement goes deeper, bringing her to a villa in Huizen where a woman named Madelief has a secret. As Rosamond becomes close to Madelief and the secret is revealed, her life starts to unravel.

Based on actual events at the villa, The Girl from Huizen tells the story of how Rosamond, working with Madelief, dared to defy the SS and their collaborators. But this is no ordinary Resistance versus Nazi story, rather it is a story of a shocking and unexpected unfolding where flames of tension ignite the page, as loss and grief consume and drive the girl from Huizen. It is a powerful story about the trusting friendship between two women. Ultimately The Girl from Huizen is a homage to the brave resistance members who risked everything to fight against Nazi oppression. Their efforts saved thousands upon thousands of lives.

Can’t let it happen again
Build my hopes up for when
I don’t need to search high and low for a friend
Who doesn’t pretend, oh
I wish somebody held me close and said

I won’t let you down
Now that I’m around
It’s ok to cry, tell me anything you like
‘Cause I would not allow
Anyone to hurt you
I wish I could say, babe, that everyone’s the same

Maybe it’s time to write that letter
I’ve been meaning to send you
Been waiting so long to say
And I’ll feel better when I tell you the reason I had to walk away
Have you been waiting all this time

And I will always regret how I tried to forget
I’m afraid it’s more than I gained since I left
‘Cause nobody can replace you
And no-one should have to

I cannot explain why we’re so afraid
People are just people falling under the weight
Of what we do not say and it happens every day
If people really change then maybe I could’ve stayed

Maybe it’s time to write that letter
I’ve been meaning to send you
Been waiting so long to say
And I’ll feel better when I tell you the reason I had to walk away

Have you been waiting for these
Walls to break down and
I never knew how
They’re crumbling down
And I can’t keep anyone out

Maybe it’s time to write that letter
I’ve been meaning to send you
Been waiting so long to say
And I’ll feel better when I tell you the reason I had to walk away

I’ll write that letter
I’ll write that letter
I’ll write that letter

I’ll write that letter
I’ll write that letter
I’ll write that letter

Remembering Lisa, who helped me make it through a storm in the wilderness.

She was an oasis in my troubled desert
As I held her tightly when we went to sleep
This was the time that all was well in my world
The turmoil of the day was held at bay
And the still of the night was my sanctuary

If a child lies to an adult, the adult is usually aware that the child is not being truthful.

When the mainstream media lie to adults, do the adults actually believe the lies?

Or, do they just choose to accept them, because it reinforces what they already want to believe?

Irresistible

I was drawn closer and closer towards her soft smooth skin by her irresistible scent,
and the magnetic pull of her sparkling dewdrop eyes.

Our lips connected with a gentle, but powerful impact that set off a chain reaction which travelled at the speed of light throughout my being.

Our minds were in perfect harmony, as the passion of our kiss accelerated to a peak. When we ceased, the level of comfort and relaxation was uniquely blissful.

As we held each other, we were like one single piece of a puzzle, that the universe had been waiting to match for all eternity. We then continued our ecstatic journey towards requited love.

“War in Jerusalem” was a collaboration between Jimmy Cliff, Dave Stewart, and Joe Strummer.

It was released in 2004

It has been a long time since I have posted anything about PETA, so I thought I would write a post to try to encourage people to become a member, or perhaps give a small donation. I am actually proud to say I am a member of PETA, because any compassionate organisation that helps animals, is worth being a member of.

When I put PETA return address labels on the back of envelops, I find it strangely satisfying. Probably because I am making a statement to the recipient, that I am against the suffering of animals.

An annual donation of $16 (£12.27) or more, entitles you to many member benefits.

Members receive a free year’s subscription to the lively magazine, PETA Global, which is packed full of the latest news, delicious vegetarian recipes, and easy tips on how to stop animal suffering in your own community.

Click on the PETA logo below to become a member, or to make a donation.

Love is never selfish
It gives more than it takes
It seeks not confrontation, but
Forgiveness when it has been absent

Metropolitan police detective sergeant Rebecca Collens was sacked after a misconduct hearing, where it was claimed that her social media posts were “antisemitic”.

Don’t like someone being honest, and sympathetic about what is happening in Palestine? Just call them antisemitic.

She shared posts on a private Instagram account which included describing the conflict in Gaza as genocide, and compared daily child deaths in Auschwitz with deaths in Gaza.

She is completely correct of course. Apart from all the people who are complicit in the genocide in Gaza, and the Western media reports, who calls genocide, a conflict? Nobody with any sense. It is like calling the Thames Estuary a glass of water, or saying a child molester is a decent guy. It is euphemistic propaganda.

She is also right to compare daily child deaths in Gaza, to Auschwitz, because there are daily deaths of children in Gaza. Denying it, is the same as denying what happened in Auschwitz. It is pedicide.

She also quite rightly said “Stop calling this a war. There is no parity of power. Israel is one of the most powerful, nuclear-armed militaries on earth, funded, equipped and backed unconditionally by the single most powerful, nuclear-armed military in the history of the world.”

This decent woman lost her job, because she spoke the truth on a private account, and someone back-stabbed her. It is the same as other honourable people in the UK who protest and speak out against the mass murder of civilians in Palestine, they get punished for it.

“The decision to dismiss her over her social media activity was framed as necessary to preserve public confidence in the police.”

I think the opposite is more likely to happen. We need more people like Sergeant Rebecca Collens, not less.

For evil to thrive, all it takes is for good people to do nothing, and say nothing.

The Voice of Hind Rajab received 24-minute standing ovation at Venice Film Festival

Image

Prior to watching this film about Hind Rajab, I expected to find it disturbing, because I was already familiar with the events that led up to her death, but it was more harrowing, and heart wrenching than I could imagine.

Hind Rajab was in a car with relatives who were fleeing Gaza City when their vehicle was shelled by an Israeli tank, killing her uncle, aunt and three cousins. After the initial shelling, Rajab and another cousin were still alive, and they contacted the Palestine Red Crescent Society for help.

Actual recordings of Hind Rajab’s voice are used in the film accounting her final hours, as she pleaded for help from the car wreckage. Her cousin was killed while the Red Crescent Society were waiting for clearance from the authorities to send an ambulance into the area.

A terrified five-year-old child stuck in a wrecked vehicle, with the corpses of her relatives, pleading for help for hours, is not something that is easily forgotten.

We will not have peace until Israel stops its militarisation of the entire Middle East, because the Syrian war is just one of six wars that Israel has promoted, including in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Somalia and Sudan.

We have the list actually, from Lesley Clark back in 2001 when he was handed a paper in the Pentagon, that the goal was seven wars in five years. The only war that has not taken place yet, to Netanyahu’s great consternation, is the US war with Iran, which Israel is still trying to instigate to this very day.

So, the Syrian war is part of a regional tragedy. We have tragedy in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, South Sudan and Libya, that I put at the hands of the United States government, and its ally Israel.

I Swear, is based on the life of Scottish Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson. It has been nominated for five Bafta awards.

The film follows John’s journey with Tourette’s throughout his troubled teens and early adulthood. For me this was one of the best films I have seen in a long time. It shows how life can take an unexpected twist, and the anguish it can cause, not just for the sufferer, but for other people as well.

I found it to be highly engrossing as it accelerated with trepidation, and the expectation of increasing problems for the protagonist. It instilled feelings of hope as it travelled along, not knowing where it was going to go, as it demonstrated courage, determination and resilience

In amidst of the seriousness of it all, the film had an important quality, humour. It was the humour that made the story of someone living with such a frustrating condition palatable.

I will leave it there as I do not want to reveal any spoilers, except to say, the lead performance by Robert Aramayo was excellent.

Privacy and security often go hand-in-hand, and DoNotSpy11 can enable you to protect your privacy on Windows 10 and Windows 11 without any cost, and it is very easy to use. There is a Pro. version if you want to save a profile to multiple computers.

It offers various categories to choose from where you can protect your privacy:

A lot of people are becoming increasingly concerned about Windows use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) to spy on them. There is an AI category where you can disable Recall and Copilot etc.

You can tick individual entries, or select all of them in one go. I prefer to disable them all, but on some computers, occasionally a program might not work properly after disabling a specific category, which means unticking the entry that is related to the problem.

After you make your privacy selection, it will ask you if you want to create a restore point, which is always advisable to do when making changes to any computer environment.Image

For anyone who is unfamiliar with using System Restore, below is a YouTube video from TechTutor which explains it quite well. Hopefully you will not need to use System Restore, but knowing how to use it may beneficial for something else in the future.
