Runway Café’s CARNIVAL featuring !dM deviousMind – Highlights
Just in time for the February carnival season, Runway Café presented CARNIVAL, a fashion show featuring the creations of !dM deviousMind’s Chandra Meehan, on February 8, 9 and 10, 2013, and showcased costumes inspired by Mardi Gras and Rio carnivals and Burlesque night clubs. Produced by Jena Adder and Alix Abrusso, the event was filled with vibrant colors, fluffy feathers, sparkling glitter and an amazing street carnival set.

Hosted by DJ Sofia Diage and broadcased by BoSL Radio, the event featured many stylings that ranged from cute and fruity to wild and wacky, and the music had guests dancing in the streets. The models went from somba dances in the balconies to gliding gracefully onto the courtyard to showcase their costumes. There was something for every street carnival enthusiast.

The season of Carnival is upon us again, and Runway Cafe has teamed up with Chandra Meehan of !dM deviousMind to bring you another spectacular event! Showcasing exclusively the Mardi Gras, Carnival and Burlesque styles made famous by Chandra, we present you with an amazing fashion show/party in a mix of the world’s most famous street carnival parades of Brazil and New Orleans.
Our beautiful models will be styled in some of the sexiest and most scandalous designs ever created in Second Life in this theme, combined with hot music, confetti, beads, and balloon while dancing the night away across two sims designed specifically for this three day event.
We strongly encourage you to come theme dressed and to bring your party hats and masks, as it’s certain to be a memorable event and you will enjoy it more if you feel immersed in the theme!
All the designs will be offered at a specially discounted price during the event.

House of Heartsdale and Runway Café present BURLESQUE
HOUSE OF HEARTSDALE & THE RUNWAY CAFE PRESENT BURLESQUE — a unique and exciting show based on a brand new concept — a fusion of fashion with theatre.
The show features some of Second Life’s top fashion models performing famous songs from movies such as Burlesque, Cabaret, Moulin Rouge and Sweet Charity. Check out photos from Wednesday’s show (please change your Flickr settings to “Over 18” to view the photos).
A total of 6 designers, including Blacklace, deviousMind, Hugo’s Design, INSOLENCE, Lady Thera and Mon Cheri is participating in the event, which features custom built set designs, choreography, and special effects in a way never before seen in Second Life.
Animation provided by MyANIMATION (who created dances specifically for this show), Animazoo and Vista Animations.

Tatanka Kaligawa – WINNER!!!
Congratulations to Tatanka Kaligawa, WINNER of the ONE IN A MILLION DESIGNER CHALLENGE! Tatanka’s creation “Shanghai Noon” was declared the winner at the Finals show on Saturday, October 15th. Model Beatrice Serendipity joined Tatanka on stage as he accepted his ONE MILLION LINDEN prize (L$750,000 cash up front and L$250,000 worth of magazine publicity) from Runway Cafe Owner and CEO, Alix Abruzzo.

One In A Million Designer…The Last Lap!
The excitement is building as we approach the last lap of the One In A Million Designer Challenge. We showcased the second entry of each designer at the SEMI-FINALS show on October 8th. Check out the photos taken at the show.
On October 13th we celebrated the ten designers who made it through to the final round with a PRE-FINALS PARTY at the Runway Cafe. The ten finalists selected one design out of their two entries to compete in the Finals show. See the Finalists’ designs here.
The FINALS SHOW will take place on October 15th at Patch Thibaud Auditorium where the WINNER will be announced. That winner will receive L$750,000 cash and L$250,000 worth of publicity in some of SL’s top magazines, as well as an interview with Kay Fairey on her SLTV program “The Runway” on October 26th.
We hope to see all of you at these events as the finalists cross the finish line on this last lap in what has become a fun, intoxicating journey of fashion, innovation and friendly competition at the Runway Cafe.
