It’s likely all of the existing schools, and even the new ones are operating illegally* anyway with the presence of a BSL3 pathogen.
And the relatively new Douglas Park School has unsafe air quality, despite 2 Regina Trustees assuring me it was fixed. I confirmed the unsafe air quality myself with a sensor available at Canadian Tire or the Regina Public Library.
Aleana Young and Carla Beck know about schools. They probably know better than I do how antiquated their ventilation systems are. Well, old ventilation systems not designed in the 1920s to handle the previous pandemic, are not going to keep kids safe during this one. Upgrading the air quality for our kids means they’ll do better in school, stay healthier, and live longer lives.
There’s a great podcast episode with and indoor air quality expert who explains all the benefits of improving school air quality, and also how unreasonably resistant most administrators are to the plan. Even if there was not a clear threat from COVID-19 in schools, kids still would benefit from having enough fresh air to operate their brains at their highest potential level.
This blog post was inspired by Aleana’s Facebook post on how Scott Moe’s town is getting a new school ahead of others, for some unknown reason.
*”Bioterrorism is terrorism involving the intentional release (abandonment) or dissemination of biological agents. These agents include bacteria, viruses, fungi…& or toxins, & may be in a naturally occurring or a human-modified form, in much the same way as in biological warfare.” SARS-CoV-2 is a Bio-hazard Safety Level 3 (or higher) pathogen. Governments are technically terrorizing everyone by leaving this threat to disseminate in schools (and elsewhere in public).
