Lagoon!!!

Image Image

Hahaha Ok so remember back in middle school when it was way super cool to go to Lagoon with your friends and no parents! Well, I must be a kid at heart because that's exactly what I did last weekend! Don't worry we may be in college but we know where the fun is! To celebrate two of my friends graduation and the beginning of summer, 3 couples spent a Saturday at Lagoon... taking in the sun and acting like teenagers it was a great way to ring out an awesome year! ha ha I had a great time with five of my closest friends on our little Lagoon date and thanks to Steve it's all documented through photographs!! I do have to say Lagoon isn't as cool now as when you were barely 42" tall and riding the big white roller coaster for the first time, but we managed to make it pretty exciting and I'm sure people were just rolling their eyes at our immaturity! But who really cares what people think! What matters is the sore abs and cheeks we all had the next day from laughing so hard! It really was so much fun! Just another day in my crazy, exciting, sitcom-like, dramatic, exhausting, comical, wonderful life!!ImageImage

Jello Wrestling ?!?!

Image
Yep you definately heard me right :) I am proud to say that I stood my ground well over the weekend as I somehow got roped into a jello wrestling tournament. I guess that's what you get when you're dating the host of the part right?!? Well for those like my mother who had never heard of such a thing let me explain it to you... Basically you find a decently durable kiddie pool. Order enough jello powder to make 75 gallons of cherry jello (yes you special order jello wrestling jello) and then you mix it up in the pool let it sit for 20 minutes then it's time to WRESTLE!! hahaha Ok ok now if you know me you know that I'm one of the most accident prone people ever and knowing this you may ask why would I ever think to place my self in a pit of slippery wet goop and wrestle my friend who is on the softball team here at Utah State and works out at the gym regularly... again, I don't really have an answer. It was just one of those spontaneous things that happened :) But it was super fun! Each match was themed and ours was cowboy vs. indian:) Now I was the indian and a pretty darn cute one at that right? ImageImage
The motive of the match was that the ref hid 5 gold necklaces in the jello and whoever had the most at the end of the 30 second round won. There were 3 rounds and I am so proud to say that despite the fact that I was up against an opponent that was twice the size of me, I did win the first round. Now the second round got a little more intense, I got body slammed once but I still held my ground well. It came down to the third round, we were tied and ready to go for the gold (literally). Then the ref changed the rules, he announced to the crowd of 100 people watching that the only way to win the last round was to pin your opponent. If that didn't scare the daylights out of me nothing could. The whistle blew and the rest is history. She took me down I faught back enough to get out of her grip then it turned into a little bit of "girls gone wild" in Logan Utah (which is what the dj was commenting at the time)... ImageImageI pulled her hair she picked me up body slammed me again, I fought back for a little while, the crowd was going wild and finally she found her victory. I lost with dignity and we ended the match with a hug! It was a great experience, the jello felt awesome and I had a blast! Now granted, if you recall, I am very easily and often injured and yes it's true, I did walk away from this moment with trouble breathing a swollen knee and bruises covering my arms and legs... but no worries the doctor says nothing's broken, I just have some bruised ribs a little bit of swelling in my knee and a cute little waddle as I walk. But don't forget the AWESOME story to go with it all :) And although I do have to take it easy for awhile it was worth it...

I WENT CRUISIN' AND I SURVIVED!!!!

Image Image Image

Well time sure does fly when you're having fun!! Spring break has come and gone but all I have to say is I definately enjoyed my 10 day vacation!!! This year for Spring Break over 200 students from Utah State went on a Mexican Riviera Cruise! It was awesome!! I left on a thursday with three of my other friends and we drove from Logan to Mesquite then Friday from Mesquite to LA where we went to Downtown Disney of course and experienced the magic of the happiest place on earth! We also spent some time at Newport Beach taking in the California fun :) The next day was super exciting cause we headed to the port and boarded onto the Norweigian Star, our cruise ship that took us on a 7 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera!! We had three stops along the way: Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerta Vallerta!! It was so much fun! It was warm and sunny while in port and the seas weren't too rough until the last day. I took lots of pictures as you can tell and made lots of amazing memories. For those who know me well, you may be shocked that I even stepped onto that boat due to my horrifying phobia of the ocean. Well I am here to say that I did it, I survived, and I didn't even cry :) This was a huge accomplishment and I'm so glad I had the courage to face my fears! It was a wonderful week and luckily we didn't run into any trouble with the cartell, just a stubborn cop who tried to ticket us but luckily he let us off after about an hour of negotiating!! We arrived back in LA on Saturday morning and our car then headed to Huntington Beach California where we played some volleyball and walked around the shops. Later we went back to the fabulous Downtown Disney and enjoyed an evening at the ESPN zone to cheer on our beloved Aggies in the WAC trounament! Of course we won and we were super excited! That night we stayed in a ghetto hotel in Buena Park and woke up in time for church on Sunday. After sacrament we headed back to Utah and 14 hours and 4 states later... we were home safe and sound! It was a trip I will never forget! Alot can happen in a week that's for sure! But I'm happy and I'm still loving life!!! Now I just have to get used to this chilly weather again! I miss the Mexico sun!

Rascal Flatts Concert!!!!

I was so lucky to have the chance to go with my friends to the Rascal Flatts concert in Salt Lake this week!! I had so much fun! My roommate and I and two of our friends drove down from Logan on Thursday after class and went to gateway for some girl time. Then we headed to the solutions arena for the concert! One of my friends dad got us tickets in one of the suites! It was so awesome! We were totally catered to with snacks and drinks all night long! We were pretty close to the stage too and it was so SPECTACULAR!! We were standing up the whole time singing every word to every song! It was a fun night out for sure! Of course we documented it all with tons of pictures! And coincedently enough I found dear old cousin Whitney there! haha I hadn't seen her in over a year so it was good to catch up for at least a few minutes! It was a great concert and in case it wasn't obvious I had a blast!!!

Living it UP!!!

Well I've definately been keeping busy lately! School takes up a little bit of time and work a little as well, but man that social life really keeps me going!!! hahaha There's been a lot of great memories made in the last few weeks. A lot of girl bonding, a bit of dating, and even saturday bro time... (I've been named bro Shanti due to my abilities to lay around the house all day saturday playing nothing but Super Mario Smash Brothers with the boys and not complaining!!) College is going great, there is very little to complain about! The homework isn't too bad it keeps me in line, although it is getting to a point where I'm feeling a little wore out BUT it will all pay off in 3 weeks when I will be Cruisin' the Mexican Riviera!! Yippeee!!! So super excited!! So until then I have to try to keep at least a little focus on school, stay calm with my church calling, enjoy my social life, and try my very hardest to be home earlier than 3 in the morning... hmmm... yeah that last thing probably won't happen!!! hahaha Hey what can I say I'm just living it up!!!

Partying with the Stars!!!

Image
Image So this last Saturday I had the chance to head to Park City with a couple of my friends to attend the Sundance Film Festival. We headed out in the early afternoon and after stopping in Morgan where my mommy made us a delicious lunch we headed on out on our search for the celebs! hahaha There were only a couple cited: Beyonnce & Nick Cannon, Paris Hilton, Mark Harmon, and the chick who plays Tapanga on Boy Meets World! Anyway, we just hung out and walked the cold street for a little bit taking in all the venues and feeling special. Then we stood in line to get a ticket number that would then get us in line to actually buy a ticket for one of the films they were showing! ImageImageImage
It was a long process but we entertained ourselves pretty well! In between line waiting we grabbed some pizza and just chilled. The film we got into was called Zion and His Brother... it was a really sad story about the reality of a teenage boy in the middle east and how he has to overcome a bunch of different familial problems and other factors. It was one of those things you see that makes you especially grateful for what you have and adds a sense of guilt for ever thinking your life was hard. I would definately say it was a neat experience. We spent a lot of time waiting for shuttles and riding on shuttles since it was really hard to actually park downtown. Once we finally got picked up that night and made it to the car, we then headed back to Logan around 1 AM. It was a long 2 hour drive in the middle of the night but I took passenger seat and kept Nate awake so he safely got us home. It was a fun night for sure, just more memories to add to the list!!!Image

I "cleaned the sink" at ANGIES!!

Image

So there's this little hometown restaurant here in Logan called Angie's. It's basically your homestyle version of a Denny's. Anyway, they have this giant ice cream sundae called "the sink"... it's half a gallon of ice cream covered in whip cream, chocolate, strawberry, and caramel syrup, bannanas, strawberries, M&Ms, oreos, butterfingers, peanut butter cups, etc. So the deal is, if you can eat a whole "sink" by yourself and keep it down for a decent amount of time you have the privilege of saying you "cleaned the sink at Angies"! ImageThat is a big bragging right but very few people accomplish it! So after the basketball game the other night a bunch of us went to Angies which is a common tradition anyway. But this time a group of us decided to order one "sink" and just share it. Well we were trying to finish it before another group of our friends on the next table and we got it down to where it was like that puddly milky stuff so my friend Nate says, "Shantelle you should just drink it really fast then we'll be done" ImageHe promised he'd hold my hair and not dump it right on top of me... Well, it was working well until I needed to swallow. I have a slight cold and my nose is stuffed up so when I went to swallow I also needed to breathe, but I couldn't breathe, swallow, and keep drinking the goop that was being poured into my mouth. So I pulled back, nate kept pouring, i gasped for air without swallowing first and there went the ice cream!!! All over everyone at the table, all over my pants, in my hair, EVERYWHERE!!! ImageNot to mention that in the process I somehow knocked all the drinks over on the table... yeah it was messy!! The entire restaurant by now was just in hysterics laughing at me including myself. Of course my wonderful kind friends made sure they took a picture before handing me a napkin!! The waitress was so entertained as well that even though I didn't technically finish eating a whole sink by myself, she still gave me a bumper sticker and I now hold the rights that I "cleaned the sink at ANGIES!!" It was a messy memory for sure!!
