Christian and Ruth just before leaving for the airport
On Tuesday the 29th Ruthie and I had to say goodbye to Christian. The next four weeks he will be at ROTC Field Training in Georgia and Alabama. Christian would be flying out of Phoenix at 6 am so we drove down Monday evening and stayed the night. We will miss Christian and we can't wait to see him again on June 26th.
Three things about me:
1. I can sick my finger up my nose.
2. I like to play with my Uncle Jake and my friend Bill Taylor.
3. I love my Daddy so, so much.
Daddy, I will miss you while you are at Field Training.
This weekend we enjoyed a visit from Jake and Bill. We had fun visiting together. I know Christian had a great time hanging out with the guys. What did they do? The worked out, played video games, and watched Avatar - definite guy time. Bill was our chef and Jake was Ruthie's best bud.
For those who are still wondering where we get those cute numbered onsies, the answer is Target. Gerber sells them in packs of three. That's right, they are plain white onsies. Let me explain how we make these weekly photos.
1. Buy plain white onsies in the appropriate size.
2. Select a blanket, sheet, or other piece of fabric for a backdrop. Spread the backdrop out on the floor.
3. Dress baby in previously purchased onsie and place on the backdrop.
4. Position the camera directly above the baby and take numerous pictures.
5. Upload pictures to the computer.
6. With the help of your spouse engage baby in an activity appropriate to current stage of development and temperament at the conclusion of the photo shoot.
7. View photos and select the desired shot.
8. Have husband work computer magic to make a weekly number appear on the onsie in the photo.
9. Post on your blog.
10. Secretly smile to yourself as people congratulate you for getting such cleaver onsies to catalogue your baby's growth (Like you have money to buy clothes that your child will only be able to wear for one week - yeah right).
11. Confess to the world that the onsies are actually blank and that you did not come up with this clever idea but rather stole it from another blog.
12. Encourage others to steal it from you.
We have lots of fun making these pictures each week, although we are running out of blankets to use as backdrops. Ruthie has fun taking these pictures as well. She can be a real wiggle-worm, so that sometimes makes it difficult to get a shot where her limbs aren't a blur.
We plan on keeping this up until Ruth's first birthday, after that we will find another way to catalogue her growth.
Three things about me:
1. I like banana baby food.
2. I have started to mimic Mommy when she claps her hands.
3. I am still the most adorable thing at church.
Christian had her going back and forth with this little drumming game for about five minutes before I came to video it. She was a little distracted by the camera, but she was the cutest little drummer. She likes this nut tub so much that as soon as we ate all the nuts I washed it out and kept it. She still drums on it and at the end of the day I can throw her little toys in it to put them away.
I found that I had a collection of pictures of Ruth that I have not shared with the world. This post is meant to rectify that.
Our little girl is a happy girl. It is easy to find opportunities to catch her smiles.
That cute hat is actually her little felt Easter basket (notice the R).
A few weekends ago we had a campfire with some friends. I was busy chatting but Christian a was smart enough to take some photos of Ruthie at her first campfire.
A very sleepy girl.
Ruthie loves this little carrier. We went out today to walk through the craft fair at the town square and Ruth loved being up and able to see everything rather than sitting in her stroller.
Three things about me:
1. I will yell and cry if you take away what I am playing with.
2. I have learned how to pull hair.
3. I can do the motor boat sound with my tongue. I like to practice when I am being fed.
Mom said she needed a picture of our family and I realized that the most recent family photo we had was at Ruthie's baby blessing. Our friend Ryan was kind enough to take this picture of us a after church.
Let's be honest, Ruthie is the star of this photo.
Three things about me:
1. My favorite toys are a spoon and a baby hanger.
2. I like to give kisses. Big slobbery open-mouthed kisses.
3. I like it when Daddy raspberries my tummy.
