Rifling through
piles of books in the hall,
searching for unread pages.

The daffodils
sprouted this morning,
untended by any hands.

Walking arm-in-arm
along the brick paths at dusk,
we shivered and laughed.

Two cats greet me
at the front door. Hello, friends!
I hear the birds outside, too!

Frost on the clover
but the spring’s warmth follows
close behind.

Headlights, engaging
in one-sided dialogue
with the dark pine trees.

Ashley and Joel are a husband-and-wife graphic design team with a passion for words and pictures. They decided to embark on a journey starting March 20, 2009 and ending March 20, 2010, in which they document every day of their first full growing season of marriage with the pairing of a photo from Ashley and a haiku from Joel. They create without knowing what the other has done, letting the story of their daily lives unfold on its own.
