Kat's Visit

So, almost 10 years ago I was a camp couselor at a Girl Scout summer camp (3 different camps, actually). I can honestly say it was one of the most awesome summers of my life. I made some great memories and some great friends. Some months ago, one of these friends contacted me to say she would be in town around the beginning of September, so we made some plans with another "counselor" friend of ours and had a great weekend.

Thursday:
We met for lunch and then did some sightseeing downtown. All of us outside the Visitor's Center.
Image

After sightseeing, we headed up to Ensing Peak (as if it were a piece of cake, with one 8month prego girl, and two wee ones, ha ha ha!)

Kat and I made it to the top with the little ones. :) WAHOO! I did it :D

Just so you know, this is the mountaineer stroller I used all the way to the top.

Friday:
We stopped to eat lunch at this park close to Brigham City on our way to The Spiral Jetty.
Image

It was way the heck out there...32 miles east of Brigham City (and most of that on dirt/gravel roads). I'm calling family with birthday wishes in this shot.
Image

When we got to this Spiral Jetty place, we had to wait because this man...excuse me, "Artist", was in the middle of creating his art. He was dressed from head to toe in the mirror suit he had created. Then he was videoing himself in this suit walking backwards around the entire jetty, and then once he got to the end/center, he walked back out again but in the same direction he went in (so frontwards). When we got there, he had just barely started and since this suit was extremely heavy and because the terrain was rocky he had to walk exaggeratedly slow so as not to fall and break it/ruin his art video. Really interesting...

Saturday:
We found this park to have lunch at (seeing a theme here?).

Ahh...the Bear bench at Park City :)

Sunday:
We all made some great food and ate at our place, ok mostly Kat made the delicious food. It was SO good! We had steak and chicken ka-bobs, corn on the cob, some awesome garlic bread, a greek(?) salad (it had cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, onions, feta cheese and an italian type dressing), and chocolate tarts for dessert. Ok, so I'm salivating now thinking about all that yummy food :)
Image

It was such nice weather that day!
Image

We played a really fun game and had a nice time hanging out with the guys for a change.
Image

Monday:
We just couldn't let Kat leave without trying our Cafe Rio, so once again we pulled out a blanket and found a nice park to eat at before dropping her off at the airport. It was some kind of fun to have her here...

Tennis, Stickers and My Birthday

Tennis
Instead of leaving Washington D.C. the Sunday we were supposed to head back, we (Becky, Becky's friend Wendy, and I) decided to ride back to North Carolina with my Mom because the flights were much less crowded leaving from Raliegh, than DC. Actually, if you want to get technical, we stayed in the D.C. area and extra night to help my little sister, Maria, and her husband, Jeremy, clean and pack up their apartment so they could head out west. Jeremy had walking pnemonia and Maria is prego and so packing and carrying heaving boxes and such just wasn't a good idea at the time.
So, to continue with the story...on Monday after we had Maria and Jeremy's car stuffed to the max, we headed down to good old NC. Although Becky and Wendy left super early the next morning, I decided to stay an extra 24 hours.
Tuesday, when I woke up, my little brothers (Rafael, Boe and Marcus) and sister (Carly) let me tag along with them to play tennis. We took a short cut through the woods to get to the court.

Although this isn't the greatest picture, if you ever hear me say "I miss the trees!", this is what I'm talking about!! Notice how it seems as thought there is a wall of foliage? I think that whoever made up the saying, "You can't see the forest for the trees" was from North Carolina.

Stickers
I got a page of stickers in the mail with some sort of advertisement and left them sitting on my bed. When I came back into the room, Jack had most of them off and stuck to this body. I could not resist, so I helped him with the last few and took a picture. It was so cute. It's the funniest thing - he's gotten a couple stickers on different occaisons from the grocery store and he always puts it in the same spot. He lifts up his right leg, pulls up his pants and puts the sticker on his (right) shin(sp?). (What the heck?!?!? - where on earth did he get that idea?)

My Birthday
So my birthday was way back at the end of August, and I barely got any pictures, but here you go anyway.
First, we went to lunch at Wingers and this was the only picture I got, dang-it! Jack dipping his chicken in their yummy wing sauce :)
Image

I wanted to do something "fun" for all of us that day - and I guess when I say fun for US, I really mean Jack. So we went over to the Petting Zoo at Gardner Village. Jack loved it!

After the petting zoo, I took too long to decide that I wanted a cake from that Nothing Bundt Cakes place because when we got there it was closed. But then Britton suggested Krispy Kreme doughnuts and I was SOOO glad I hadn't gotten a cake. We drove down to Orem and it was the best birthday treat ever!! Of course I forgot to get pictures of that, because I was too busy stuffing my face with HOT doughnuts!

Girls Getaway 2008 - Washington D.C.

So, the "girls" in my family got together for our first ("biennial" means every 2 years, right? 'cause that's what were thinking the frequency will be) Girls Getaway. Me, my sisters and my mom decided it was time for us to start getting together for some much needed bonding time on a somewhat regular basis. We were thrilled that our Aunt Candy (Mom's sis) and our cousin's girlfriend, Jessica, could join us too. We really had a lot of fun, although it flew by WAY too fast...maybe we can make it a 3-nighter instead of a 2-nighter from now on. I think that would make a big difference. I'm in charge of planning the next Getaway, so wish me luck!

My first time using a subway system, although it was no different than any other public transportation I've used.

I'm pretty sure the ice cream was my idea - everyone was so sweet to indulge me...for some I had been craving it all day...Maria, me and Becky

Our tour bus arrived at The Capitol like 1 minute before a whole caravan of bicyclists arrived. It was some kind of fundraiser for (a good cause that I can't remember) - the people in the background are the welcoming committee and the bicyclists that had barely arrived from San Francicso...Jessica, Maria, me and Becky

Jack Attack

"Dah-ee" ("Sorry")

This is one of those words that I've obviously been working on with Jack since he's started hitting and being posessive of toys, although he's never even attempted to say it or acknowledge my request. Anyway, he dropped a piece of french toast off of this tray this morning and promplty exclaimed, "Uh Oh!". I said, "That's ok, it was an accident...say, sorry," and he DID! Too cute :D

Britton's Birthday

We had lots of good food on Britton's birthday; barbeque chicken, corn on the cob, baked potatoes, salad and yummy cake! It was great weather, so we ate outside - it was so nice :D

29! Man, I used to think that was SO old...I'm only a year behind him and I don't feel old!

Pioneer Day

We did carry on the tradition! On Pioneer Day (24th of July), Britton's family has a tradition of going to the parade downtown (Salt Lake) and then to lunch at Chuck-A-Rama, and then on to the Gateway fountains. It is such a fun tradition that I now look forward to every year. :)

Here we all are at the parade.

That night, Tiffany and Sean invited us to their house for sparklers and fireworks! (Ok, is it just me, or does Britton even look old enough to be married, let alone a dad in this picture?!?)
