We just got back our family pictures we had taken a few months ago. I am SO excited about how they turned out. The kids were so cooperative throughout the whole thing. It helps that the photographer was talented too (Becky Ravenburg Photography) and the setting was amazing.

Marianna's Wedding
Marianna married Brandon Farmer on July 16th. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding. Marianna was gorgeous (I wish I had a picture of her to post, I am sure I can get one later). We love Brandon and are so happy to have him in our family.

Lake Powell + Jack's broken ribs
July has been a month of fun for us. Jack rigged is schedule so that it would be really easy during the month of July, and we are taking full advantage of his "time off."
I love Lake Powell and have so many great memories here. I love the heat and the warm water and the orange rocks and sleeping on top of the boat under the stars. I was so excited that we got to go this year:
Unfortunately our trip was cut very short when one morning Jack was skiing and took a bad fall. His body was pretty much folded sideways in half when he hit a large waves. When we pulled the boat over to him it was clear that he was in pain and having trouble breathing. It took a long time to pull him out of the water and onto the boat. Once we got him on the back seat of the boat he was unable to move. We finally decided that since he was in so much agony and was struggling to breathe that we should take him into the clinic in Page, AZ. The poor guy had to endure a two hour boat ride on the rough main channel of Lake Powell to get to the dock. The big concern was that he would have a pneumothorax, but luckily he did not. They diagnosed him with broken ribs and he also crunched all of the soft tissue and nerves on his left side. Even after a shot of morphine, two loritab, ibuprofen and a percocet he was still in a lot of pain. We drove home that night. He is recovering well though and hopefully will be more fully recovered before he goes back to school next week!

Helping drive the houseboat.
Giving loves to Max. Max has a brain tumor and won't be around much longer. The kids will sure miss him!
There are lots of ways to get into trouble at Lake Powell. We couldn't take our eyes off this little guy for a second!
Having fun on the stand-up paddle boards!

Vinhagen
Every year the Stringham's go up to Vinhagen, ID. Vinhagen is an old rustic cabin that was supposedly used by Teddy Roosevelt as a hunting lodge. We had a great time hanging out, catching frogs, rowing in the pond, soaking in the wood-burning hot tub, shooting groundhogs, and watching the amazing thunderstorms that rolled in.
Papa, Grandma and the boys
A view of the cabin and part of the group. The Astle's (Cynthia's sister's family) came with us and it was fun to have them.
Poor Ella
The little explorer was in heaven at the cabin. We couldn't take our eyes off him for a minute though or else he'd get into trouble!
Hannah loved playing with Abe Astle. By the end of the trip he had our little dirt-phobe digging in the mud and holding tadpoles!
Showing off a tadpole she caught.
Jack had fun shooting at the groundhogs that destroyed this nearby cabin.
Kim makes the best dutch oven food ever!
The cabin and the boat house.
Morning snuggles.
The contraption behind us is a hot tub that is heated by lighting a fire inside of it! Very cool.
Hannah, Jack and Abe Astle rowing on the pond.
Jackson and Oscar Astle's favorite thing was playing with this little spring water fountain.
Playing with cousin brad.
Hannah loved wrestling Sarah's friends Grace and Ella.
Watching the rainstorms. I don't know that I've ever seen such intense storms and they sounded so loud on the tin roof of the cabin.
