The End?

It's semi-official, we pretty much never post here anymore. If you want to actually see what's going on in our lives check Emily out on twitter (emilyjs), or friend either of us on Facebook, or visit Emily's etsy shop www.gobbleturtle.etsy.com.

Music

The girls love their music. If they're not having a dance party to the Pogues, they're playing and singing. Here are some vids.

Christmas Rejects and Dance Parties

Now that you've gotten our xmas card and pic, I can show you a few of the reject photos. I like this one - it looks like James has magicked Pippa from thin air.

Image

Image
I have approximately 12,000 photos that look like this - our girls are tremendously unphotogenic, a trait they inherit from me (which is why I'm never on here). Most of our pics looks like this.

Image
The girls love a good dance party. It's even better if it involves butterfly wings.

Image
Witch hats and butterfly wings add a whole new dimension.

Another Mini Kitchen Reno

James and Bill decided to replace the kitchen sink -- it was a nasty, stained, cracked undermount ceramic, and water ran all over the counter, cuz there was no lip to make splashes drain back into the sink.

ImageThe old sink, halfway through the transformation.

ImageNo more old sink.

ImageThe new one is clean and shiny :)
(and has a lip all the way around, so water stays where it should).

More Christmas Pics

Image
Santa's sleigh and reindeer tracks. The gold "x" is reindeer attractant given to us by cousins - it worked!

Image
Look closely and you can see the sleigh tracks, Santa's footprints next to it, and reindeer prints behind it. Someone was busy xmas eve.

Image
Rowan opening her present from Pippa - a new sled.

Image
Not quite enough snow outside, so they practice in the living room.

Image
True Mainers now - they asked for shovels for Christmas, so their Grandmama got them kid-sized shovels.

Image
Pippa practicing for the next big storm. Believe me, we need all the help we can get.

Image
Santa's presents to the girls - train sets.

Image
And they love them.

A lot.

More XMas Videos!

Here are some videos from this morning!

The girls coming downstairs Christmas Morning:

While Pippa seemed enchanted by the magic of Christmas morning, Rowan takes a more direct approach and invents a new Olympic event: Present Diving!

The girls are more excited by the candy than the presents!

Even More Holiday Celebrations...

Figgy Pudding - if you listen closely Pippa really sings the entire song even tho Rowan yells over her the entire time.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Jingle Bells - it gets a bit crazy at the end.

The girls leave bourbon and figgy pudding for Santa. While we were putting the girls to bed, Cabar (one of our dogs) ate the pudding. Luckily, the bourbon was untouched.

Christmas Carols

The girls love singing Christmas carols. Here's a favorite:

Words are supposed to be "over the river and through the woods, to grandmother's house we go". I'll try to record some more tomorrow.

Halloween

So here are some halloween photos of the kids- the dragon may look familiar from last year.
The bunny was a new creation-- Pippa has said she wanted to be a bunny for halloween since the summer.

Haircut

Continuing with the tradition of posting old photos long after they were taken, back in June we decided it was time to get Pippa's hair cut for the first time.

ImageIt had gotten down past her waist if you stretched the curls out.

She seemed to really like it.

Gramp and a Bates Visit

Here are a few more photos from earlier in the Spring (Early June)

ImageVisiting my Gramp - the girls call him "GG" for Great Grampy.

Image
At Bates, feeding the ducks near the Puddle.

Image
A rare family portrait, overlooking the Puddle.

Image
Rowan and Pippa feeding the ducks, at the Puddle. Look at how dry they are.

Image
Rowan, 30 seconds after falling into the Puddle. James was literally 10 inches from her. She's uncanny that way. We don't call her Destructo Baby for nothin'.

Pippa's Birthday

So, we've got a couple of months of catching up to do. Here are some photos from Pippa's 3rd birthday party (which was back in May-- so these photos are pretty old at this point...). We had a bunch of our friends over and had a backyard party w/ lots of good food.

Image
Pippa anticipating the birthday cake.

Image
The cake was her request -- strawberry cheesecake, made from scratch by James.

Image
Rowan boogies down by the garden.

Image

Image

Image
Thank goodness someone is watching our kids, cuz clearly we're not.

Image
Pippa's actual birthday morning, what better way to celebrate than a birthday blueberry pancake.

Image
Her "big" gift from us - her first bike. It's a 'like-a-bike' knock-off -- no pedals so they learn to balance and learn pedaling later. She's gotten pretty good at it.

Image
We were headed to the river, so the girls are sporting their swim tops and shoes.

Image
Diddle diddle dumpling...

We'll try to get more up soon so we get caught up.
