The Vampire Cafe
I just got back from a little getaway to New Orleans, and I couldn’t wait to get home to my laptop to share my dining experience at The Vampire Cafe with you all! One day I spotted a few vampires on the street in the French Quarter sucking on blood bags, and I soon discovered the source of their unique drinking vessels: The New Orleans Vampire Cafe.
Naturally, I went inside and ordered a virgin blood bag and a vampire burger for lunch. My friend had the non-virgin blood bag that included vodka, but I had to keep my wits about me, knowing our very lives could be in danger in this room full of blood suckers. Also, my little wheels were turning as I plotted my next vampire story in my head.
None of the vamps were able to get their fangs into me, but the place certainly sucked quite a bit of money out of my wallet. After lunch, I found their gift shop around the corner and immediately fell under the vampires’ spell as I gladly forked over even more cash for a souvenir t-shirt. Later, I found tiny stickers of puncture wounds with a droplet of blood that had been secretly slipped into my bag, but I didn’t fall for it! They won’t get anywhere near my neck.
Back in our hotel, as I packed my now-empty blood bag and t-shirt into my suitcase (and stored the spell-casting stickers safely in my purse), I realized that yes, I was clearly easily influenced by the enterprising New Orleans vampires to give them my money, but they didn’t get my soul. And now I can have the last word by writing about them and exposing their methods to the world. My advice to you all? Go if you can, but beware!
