Talerico Kids Florida Vacation

Image
Taylor, Jordyn, and Rylee all went to Florida with the Talerico Family in Daytona Beach. This was the first time their papa (a.k.a. - Mike Talerico Sr.) got to see every sigle one of his grandchildren all in the same place at one time! He was very happy to achieve this and I know it was not easy, so I am glad that it all worked out!! They all had a great time and even got to see a tornado funnel cloud literally right over their heads! We missed them a bunch and are so glad to have them all home...safe and sound. Luckily Aunt Christine and Cousin Teri took some pics for us to see! So, here we go...

Our Sloppy "Jo"

Image
We decided last night at dinner that Jordyn has earned the nick name "Sloppy Jo"! She is so very sloppy in many ways, and at dinner too (we will be working on her manners). She loves that part in the movie Billy Madison when the cafeteria lady comes out and asks all the kids if they want more sloppy joes. She says, "I made 'em extra sloppy for ya!" What can we say? It just fits. We love you Jordyn!

Couples Dune Trip

Image

We really enjoyed the couples dune trip the first weekend in March. I was kind of chickening out on really trying anything when riding the quad though...it would be just my luck to break a bone or two (or worse!) the weekend before our honeymoon cruise! Oh well. I have the whole next season to get better! Jamie loved to ride though and took full advantage of the wall and competition hill! It was a blast with RB & Stacie, Tawna & Nathan, Jade & Jeff, mom and dad, Kamela & Chad, and of course, Brett (minus Lisa - Lisa we missed you!). Jamie and I even took a little day trip with Brett into Mexico for a little shopping (thanks Brett for all the translating and shopping fun - Hope Lisa liked her new purse!). Dinner in Yuma at Texas Road House on Saturday night was a riot! Jade and Grumpy really went at it! RB got in his share too. They were probably really relieved when we all left! It's always fun with everyone around! Hope next years trip gets here quick!

Jordyn's 3D Animal Plant Cell Project

Image

Better late than never, this was actually in February, I think! Sixth grade science had to do 3D cell projects and come up with their own ideas for them. Jordyn made a version of the cell I did my sophomore year at Mesa High and it turned out really well. We used 2 sheets of plexi-glass and siliconed a piece of weather stripping between the pieces of glass. Inside was different little objects that made up the nucleus, mitochondria, etc...then for the cytoplasm we filled it full of hair gel. It looked really cool! She had lots of fun making it and got lots of help from mom and Jamie! Oh, and of course, she got an A!

Taylor's 3D Plant Cell Project

Taylor did a plant cell for his project. We used a piece of foam board and glued lots of different things, from pipe cleaners to multi-colored pastas, to form the cell and all it's different parts. He had lots of help and it turned out awesome too! Another A - thanks to our collaborative efforts!

NO CHICKEN FOR YOU!

Image
So we went out to dinner Saturday night with Tawna and Nathan. We ate at Tutti Santi's Ristorante which happened to be where Jamie and I went on our first date. The food is delicious and very Italian - Jamie and Nathan joked that there was probably a meeting going on somewhere in the back with the Godfather! LOL! Even the waiter spoke with a heavy Italian accent. When he asked me what I wanted I told him the fettucine alfredo with chicken instead of veal. He looked very irritated and said soemthing about he will ask the chef, but sometimes the chef is grouchy or too busy and said we will just have to see. So he left and goes back to the kitchen and then comes back and says, "No chicken!" I couldn't believe it, I mean Nathan had ordered pretty much the same thing but his had veal. Why can't I just have chicken instead of veal? Not difficult, or so I thought! So we all had to laugh because it reminded us of the Seinfeld episode with the Soup Nazi who tells Elaine, "No soup for you! Come back - one year!" LOL! I ended up ordering the lasagna and of course - the food was delicious. Good food. Good company. Good fun!
