2020 here we come!

On the first day of 2020, let's reminisce about 2019.. another yearly questionnaire... 

1) Where did you begin 2019?

At a party from my amazing running group at Tim's house in Lansing, MI

2) What was your status by Valentine's Day?

I don't celebrate Valentine's... so it was pretty much like any other day probably.

3) Were you in school (anytime this year)?
Not really, though I still work in a Big 10 University...

4) How did you earn your money?

I continue to work for a Bioenergy Center coordinating some fun research.

5) Did you have to go to the hospital?

No, thankfully. But I did have to take the child to the dermatologist for a surgical removal of a plantar wart.

6) Did you have any encounters with the police?
Not this year, no.

7) Where did you travel this year?
Within Michigan:
 Kalamazoo in early February to see the Air Zoo with friends; Grand Rapids; Ann Arbor to pace a 10K; some Mackinaw City and UP around dropping off and picking up at and from camp; Charlevoix for a Dragon Boat race; 
more Kalamazoo for a concert; Adrian, for a bike ride; Tawas area while my brother was in town; South Haven around Labor Day; Petoskey for a camping weekend with friends; Hickory Corners for a conference; NW Michigan during an amazing Ragnar Relay race; Lake Ann, Empire, Glen Arbor and Sleeping Bear Dunes area after a big snow in November while my sister and her family were visiting; and Detroit a couple of times for a concert and to see the Henry Ford with my brother and while my Man's family was visiting in December.

Within the US:
Spartanburg, SC to visit family; DC for a conference; Coventry and Hartford, CT in March to visit the Shors; Buffalo, NY and Niagara Falls area in April to visit Ryan; Toledo, OH for my Man's first half marathon in April; Lake Geneva, WI for my annual work conference; Chicago, IL a couple of times for work and fun; Philadelphia, PA for Memorial Day (and it was awesome!); Madison, WI for work a couple of times; Hilton Head Island, SC to visit with my family; and Nashville, TN for a conference and a fun weekend with the boys recreating wedding photos.


Within Mexico: Monterrey, NL for the boy's spring break, then in the summer to pick him up after he'd been there for 2 weeks, then for a surprise visit around Thanksgiving.


Outside Mexico and the US: The area between Sault Ste. Marie, Manitoulin Island, and Blind River in Ontario, Canada.

8) What did you purchase that was over $1,000?

Tickets for a nice cruise in 2020, some yard landscaping, and an emergency root canal (fun).

9) Did you know anybody who got married?

Yes, our friends Nick and Raechel (in March) and Randall and Meghan (in May).

10) Did you know anybody who passed away?

Not this year, thankfully. Though my cat Nekhbet died earlier this year at 19 years old.

11) Biggest surprise?
I LOVE Dragon Boating!

12) Did you move anywhere?

Not this year, thank Shiva!

13) What concerts/shows did you go to?

Live from here in Detroit, Hamilton in East Lansing, Mumford and Sons in Detroit, Hootie and the Blowfish and Barenaked Ladies -also in Detroit-, Ben Folds with the boy in Kalamazoo, and the Black Keys in Detroit.

14) Are you registered to vote?

Yes!

15) Who did you want to win Dancing with the Stars?

I couldn't care less... again, I didn't watch much TV either (though I am liking the Taco Chronicles!).  I read a lot though!

16) Where do you live now?

Still in the currently frozen land of Michigania...

17) Describe your birthday?

I celebrated my 43rd birthday by pacing my local half marathon and then having a party at home to celebrate with my boys and friends!

18) What's one thing you thought you'd never do but did in 2019?
Join a Dragon Boat team!

19) What has been your favorite moment?

Several come to mind. Running with my son has been amazing.  The peace of gliding between workouts during Dragon Boat practice. But I must add, there are several low points that come to mind, including dealing with an iron deficiency (though thankfully that has been sorted out!). 

20) What's something you learned about yourself?
Hard to explain... but it has to do with wondering, for good and bad, where my breaking point is for things sometimes... still. 

21) Any new additions to your family?
A lot of plants.

22) What was your best month?

Not sure... November and December were good.

23) What music will you remember 2019 by?

5 seconds of summer's Young love, Flight of the Conchords' Hurt feelings, Black Keys' Fever.

24) Who has been your best drinking buddy?

My LUPEC ladies and a certain Ginger gal continue to be fun, albeit sporadically.

25) Favorite night out?

Dinner and movies are still a favorite, whether out or in!  Though in and doing my nails is always preferred!
