Got it! (I think)

I decided to post an update here, and then link you to the private blog over here.  Hopefully it works.

Going Private

I think I'm the laziest blogger.  And an even lazier journal keeper. I had been meaning to make my blog private when Claire was born.

It is now time.  Now I just need to figure out how to do it.

One

ImageImage

Our little Claire turned one last week and we both can't believe it.  Unfortunately, it was a day of not only her first birthday, but her first ear infection.  I had visions of her devouring her cake, but instead she was too sick to try anything.

Here our some of Claire's numbers of her achievements.

6: number of words
4: number of bottles in one year
2: number of times she took a pacifier in one year
8: number of tricks
22: number of flights

Months:

3.5: flipped over both ways
5.5: sat up
6: taking a sippy cup
6.5: first two teeth (still only two)
7: first trick (So BIG)
7.5: started to crawl
8: pulled herself up
9: started cruising furniture
10: said her first word (either dog or book, it was such a gradual process, I think I missed the first word)
11: standing up by herself (only 3 times so far)
12: first ear infection

18lbs 5 oz (10-25%)

Claire and I were able to go to Dallas a week earlier to visit my sister and see my parents.  We had a shared birthday party for her there.

Can you tell Claire's 3 year old cousin shared her birthday cake with her?

The only cake that got on her face was from our attempts to feed it to her.

San Francisco

Tulsa schools have been closed the entire month due to inclement weather.  Temperatures have been a record-breaking 30 below zero.  I couldn't help but think about where I was just a few weeks ago: San Francisco.

I got to visit one of my favorite persons in the world, my sister Rachel.  My parents and my little brother Adam couldn't pass up the party either.  The Bay Area used to be their old stomping grounds back in the day.

Claire had her chopsticks all ready to go at Chef Chu's, my parent's favorite restaurant while my dad was going to graduate school in Palo Alto

This was probably my favorite thing we did.  The redwoods of Muir Woods were amazing.

Claire had a fun time hanging out with Uncle Adam.

Adam wanted to know what Claire was doing behind his back.

Image
Rachel was too embarrassed to ride the trolleys with us.  My mom almost didn't come.  They thought Adam would act too much like a tourist.  Now what would give them that idea?

Have I ever mentioned I moved around a lot growing up?

The most exciting thing about the trip was getting to know my newest nephew, Sam.  They are just ten weeks apart, and got along so well.  It almost made me think I could handle twins.  Almost.

Image
Sam just told Claire that he saw Uncle Jesse and Joey.  Here they are at Alamo Square, the park featured in the opening credits of Full House.

Dear Rachel,
We miss you, cousin Sam, San Francisco, and your 70 degree weather.  Please have us back again soon.

Love,
Elizabeth and Claire

We Got a Little Snow

The record for inches of snow for the entire month in Tulsa was 9. On the first half of the first day of February, that record was shattered with a staggering 14 inches.  This is so crazy to me because I think of Tulsa of being just a little colder than Dallas.  At least that was my mentality.

The good thing about all of this craziness is that Dave's clinic has been closed for three days so far.  We'll see about tomorrow.  It's been so nice to be bundled up inside with the entire family.

We wanted her to feel the snow for the first time.

Then she started sampling it.

Here's Dave, fighting the storm.  After this, he ended up walking a mile to Lowe's to buy a snow shovel.

Holiday Season

A lot has changed since my last post.  Claire is not only a speedy crawler, but she loves cruising around between all of the furniture and getting into all of the kitchen cupboards.

We did not get a Thanksgiving this past year (second year in a row).  It was sad.  We did get to go to Mesa for Christmas.  I enjoyed the nice 70 degree weather on Christmas.  For some reason, Dave doesn't feel like it's Christmastime when he visits Arizona.  He also had a hard time comprehending time off.  It took him a while to realize he was on vacation.

Well, here are a TON of pictures from the last few months.
