The Cat On My Head

DELICATE SNUGGLY ART

Caturday Art

I hope you all are not tired of seeing the kittens. They are supremely photogenic and do not seem to mind having their photo taken. So, they are back again in some snuggly Caturday Art.

Two snuggly kittens in art created using the Delicate Gingko effect from Painnt with a blue filigree frame.

To create today’s art, I used the Delicate Gingko effect with original color from Painnt. To that I added the Blast filter from piZap at 50 percent. The frame, as always, is from favpng.

Here’s a puzzle for all the jigsaw fans.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

ImageI believe we will have a two-fur for you tomorrow on our selfie hop. Two hosts are better than one, don’t you think? Admittedly, these two have little experience in hosting, so I guess it is time to break them in. Of course, all the Kitties Blue will be looking forward to seeing you on the hop as will all your other friends. Please start thinking about getting you selfie taken so you can join in the fun.

Until then have a comfortable and cuddly Caturday.

Friendly Fill-Ins

ImageThe Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They publish the fill-in sentences on their blogs each Thursday. To participate in the hop, click on the badge at the left. Kitties Blue left it up to me to complete all four Fill-ins this week. I used teal italics to fill in the blanks. Any explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. My favorite kind of pie is apricot.

2. I will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by going to a party tonight and doing something on Periwinkle and Stinky’s post on Tuesday.

3. I was correct when I predicted that my mother had passed away. (I was in New York and she was in California. She had been ill and in the hospital for several weeks. I was 16.)

4. I didn’t see eight kittens and 12 cats being dumped in our alley coming.

Thanks for stopping by to see us. We will be back again tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

AN ABUNDANCE OF THANKFULS & POETRY

Thankful Thursday

If it is Thursday, it is time to share some thankfuls from this past week. I have a very long list this week.

I am thankful I agreed to have Lisbeth’s wounds cultured. She has both anaerobic and aerobic bacterial infections. The convenia injection she got last week will take care of one, and she has started on clavamox for the other. Overall, her face seems to be healing well.

A black and white cat wrapped in a blanket.

I am grateful Tali had her spay surgery and got microchipped yesterday. Two less things to worry about. And we are starting her on amitriptyline for her obsessive suckling on me. None of the other myriad solutions I have tried have worked. A little POTP that this one will do the trick would be appreciated.

A blonde woman in glasses thankful to be holding a sleeping white and calico kitten.

On Saturday morning at 3:15 a.m., I got one of the best gifts when Dad Tom woke me up with the words, “Happy Birthday, he’s home!” Yes, my birthday was Saturday, and the him he was referring to was Raleigh. It was his fourth time sneaking out, and remained outside for only 1 1/2 days. Usually he shows himself to me occasionally while he is out, but he didn’t this time. The previous night when I went to see if he had returned, there was a raccoon nomming under the bird feeder and a tiny baby raccoon on the part of the deck not available to the kitties. I knew I wouldn’t see him that night!

The daffodils, hyacinths, forsythia and many of the fruit trees, especially the pears, are blooming. I am not only thankful but delighted to see this. And it appears the squirrels left most of my bulbs alone … probably because they were buried under impenetrable ice.

Today, I have an appointment with my orthopedic surgeon to talk about my newest new knee. As the weather has warmed up some, it is not quite as painful and is working a bit better, but I am still trying to recover from the fall on October 30.

I am thankful to everyone who left birthday wishes for me on our Caturday post. I did not mention it was my birthday, but Sharon (Friends Furever) had it on her post. Also, I am thankful for the cards I received in the mail as well as gifts and dinner out with by longtime friend, Tammy. And, I am super thankful for the beautiful flowers from Teddy’s mom Pam (Two Spoiled Cats). I am truly blessed.

Finally, Kitties Blue and I are thankful for those of you who visit the blog and comment and for those who join the Sunday Selfies blog hop.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thursday, also is the day of the week when I like to join Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats by writing some poetry. They provide an inspiration photo, and those who participate in the challenge write a poem based on it.

Here’s this week’s fun photo.

Girl with big blue eyes looking over the top of a huge plate of nachos.

Here is my very short poem to accompany it.

All Mine?

Is this all for me,
or do I have to share?
I think I can eat it all,
but I guess it would be fair
to give you just one bite!

ImageAngel Sammy is the official poet at Two Spoiled Cats. Every Thursday, he transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to brother Teddy for publication. Angel Sammy is an excellent poet, and we always recommend you read his poem. You can find it over at Two Spoiled Cats by clicking on the poetry badge.  While visiting, check out the inspiration photo for next week and join us in writing some poetry. It’s fun!

Thanks for stopping by today.

I DOUBLE DARE YOU & BE NICE

Awww Mondays

Sparks

I do not think my Spark needs any explanation, but I believe it does pair nicely with the Awww Mondays photos.

A quote from Germany Kent, "Be nice to people ... maybe it'll be unappreciated, unreciprocated, or ignored, but spread the love anyway. We rise by lifting others," on a grey background with a red heart surrounded by illustrative cats, dogs and a rabbit.

The author of today’s Spark, Germany Kent (née Evelyn Palmer), is a 50-year-old American journalist, best-selling author, (The Hope Handbook) actor, producer and philanthropist.

ImageSparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. It began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

ImageTomorrow our daring duo will be waiting for you to join them on their next adventure. As it is Periwinkle’s week to plan what they’ll be getting up to, you will need to check out Friends Furever. I know P&S will be looking for you, so please don’t let them down. Our Angel Sawyer continues to live through these adventures as his alter-ego Stinky, and it would mean so much to Mom Sharon, Noelle and myself if you would continue to follow our two favorite, cartoon tabby cats.

Thanks for stopping by to visit today.

LOOK INTO MY EYES

Sunday Selfies: Week #603

White and black cat with large green eyes asks you to "Look into my eyes."

Welcome to Sunday Selfies, my friends. I am dictating the post today for my mom to type for me. I took my selfie on Thursday while Mom and I were at the vet. She told you in our Thankful Thursday post that the wound on my face was healing nicely after my visit to Dr. McBane on Monday. Unfortunately, on Thursday morning I woke up with an even larger wound below the original one. And it was swollen badly.

I managed to miss the tips of my ears in the selfie, for which I apologize. I do not, however, apologize for not including the left side of my face in the photo. Mom said it looked ghastly, and she didn’t want me to make anyone ill. So I have concentrated on my eyes and my whiskers.

After the photo, I got carted to the back of the clinic and sedated, where Dr. McBane lanced, drained and flushed my wound which was badly infected. Dr. McBane also cultured the wound, and the results will be back sometime this coming week. As I’d already had an antibiotic injection, I was sent home with pain medication and am continuing to take the prednisolone.

Neither Mom, Dr. McBane nor I know how any of this happened, but I have my paws crossed that nothing shows up on the culture and my face heals quickly. Of course, Mom, Dad and Dr. McBane are hoping for the same. I wouldn’t mind a bit of POTP, prayers and purrs in the mean time.

Thanks for listening to my tale of woe. Mom promises to keep you posted when we know more. And now, I will turn this post over to her.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lisbeth

Please Hop With Us

ImageI hope you didn’t mind hearing about Lisbeth’s medical issues, but she could use a little POTP. And, I know she would really be happy to have you join her on the hop by linking up your selfie. Your sweet faces always make me, all the Kitties Blue and all your other friends smile.

Whether you decide to hope or not, we appreciate that you stopped by today. Now, go have an easy Sunday, dear friends.

GIBBS IN THE CATTASAURUS

Caturday Art

Black and white kitten in a Cattasaurus,

Kitties Blue enjoy playing in the Cattasaurus. It is fun to chase each other or a spring around on the inside. I shared a photo of Gibbs and Tali playing smacky paw through the little cat-shaped cutout in, “Everything is a Game.”

To create this week’s art, I used the “🌻🎨👈🏻 Doodle” effect from Painnt. The frame is from the favpng app.

Here’s a puzzle for all our jigsaw fans.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

ImageAnother week has slipped away meaning it is time to snap a selfie for tomorrow’s blog hop. Big surprise: Your host has already taken her selfie. It’s not purrfect, but she thinks you will like it. So, get busy. You do not want to miss the opportunity to join the hop, so all your friends and Kitties Blue can enjoy your adorableness. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow or anytime before 11:59 p.m. Thursday.

Thank you so much for visiting us today. Have a terrific Caturday.

I had some much needed help this week from Audrey for which I am very grateful. We both used teal italics to fill in the blanks. Any explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. I don’t enjoy cooking anymore, but I appreciate those that do.

2. Audrey: Lately, I don’t get enough treats, as Sawyer isn’t here for me to steal his.

3. Being mugged when I was in college scared me away from walking outside by myself at night; though, I did it many nights looking for Sawyer when he was missing. (For decades, if I was walking alone [even it broad daylight], I would panic if I heard footsteps approaching behind me.)

4. The eight kittens dumped in our alley forced me to learn how to bottle feed them and be their foster mom.

Thank you for stopping by to see us today. We will be back with some Caturday Art tomorrow.

THANKFULS & HAIKU

Thankful Thursday

When Tuesday rolls around, Kitties Blue and I like to reflect on things for which we are thankful and then join Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop.

We are having some warmer weather, and I have had the opportunity to spend a few hours outside on two different days cleaning up flower beds. It’s not much but a start.

On Monday Lisbeth and I were able to get a work-in appointment with our vet, Dr. McBane. The wound on Lisbeth’s face, which I mentioned in a previous post, had fresh scratches next to it. We don’t know if Lisbeth did those to herself or one of the other cats did it. She got it cleaned up, received an antibiotic injection and is on prednisolone. She was a totally good girl!

A black and white cat in a sleepy pod pet carrier.

On Sunday, Dad Tom and I got to attend a play at our community theater and get ice cream afterwards.

Periwinkle and Stinky want to thank those who visited and enjoyed their adventure with them on Tuesday.

Kitties Blue and I appreciate each of you who visit the blog, comment and especially participate in the Sunday Selfies blog hop.

If you would like to join the Thankful Thursday blog hop with us, click on the Thankful badge.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thursday also is the day when I try to share some poetry and participate in Angel Sammy and Teddy’s (Two Spoiled Cats) poetry challenge. Today I only managed a haiku.

Here’s the inspiration photo they provided for this week followed by my short verse.

Thought I could do it myself
