Who am I? I'm Shelly Tucker. I'm a storyteller, writer, ghost tour operator, amateur historian, avid genealogist, book loving, cat loving Texan (which is why you might notice a twang when I write)

A long time ago, I was a blogger, but Facebook sang a siren song of instant gratification and lured me away. I think a blogger is still inside of me, but we will just have to see, won't we?
I'm disenchanted with Facebook! It seems like anti-social media to me. The ads drive me crazy, as do the political posts. I find that on days that I back away from that Facebook realm I am happier and more productive. I don't know, yet, if I am brave enough to back away from Facebook completely ... but that's the plan. When I blogged, I found that I actually got out into the real world more, so I would have blog fodder. I'd like to do that again. So, here I am, with what I hope is three different blogs on one website. That way if one doesn't blow your dress up another might. The Random Ramblings section will be much like my former blog ... whatever pops into my head when I sit down at the computer. It's the part that will probably live up to the website name: This Eclectic Life. I will share some of the posts I wrote a long time ago, because I liked them ... and I don't want to lose them. Although I probably won't write daily, keep stopping by to see. If you are there, I write more often. 1,000 Mitzvah's is where I will be writing about the acts of kindness I will be doing next year. I probably won't write about all of them, but just the ones that seem meaningful. Sometimes an act of kindness is simply smiling at a lonely looking strange! I hope you will join me (and share your mitzvah's in the comments!). All In The Family is about my genealogical journey. I'll share my famous (and infamous) ancestors as I find them, but I will probably also write about genealogical resources and how I found some of my information. Sometimes that journey is more interesting than what I really find. So, there it is. Let's go. |
