Liz' Modern Roses Quilt

Lois has a granddaughter who is very interested in quilting and produced this very cute, very modern quilt.

I chose the  Tea Roses pattern because of the appliqued roses that she placed randomly across the quilt.

PermaCore lavendar thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting. What an appropriate backing!

It's so nice to see a young woman so interested in quilting! I'm sure her grandmother is very proud.

Randy's Bandana Quilt

Cathy started on this quilt for her husband over 4 years ago and it has become a running joke that she is going to give it to him for Christmas. Well, this year, she finally finished it and brought it to me for quilting.

She just wanted simple quilting and this meander certainly does the trick. It had 2 layers of flannel as the batting, which I've never seen before. It was a bit tricky making sure it was flat with each advance and it is HEAVY!

What a cute idea!

Dottie is working on the binding for her now, so Randy will have his quilt in 2013, I'm sure!

Mary's Sunflowers

Here's another cute panel quilt with borders added.

These fabrics have a lot of metallic thread, so I decided to use Glide tan thread, which has a bit of sheen and it worked like a dream. I have some cones of Glide that I cannot use as they seem to break. Not sure what that's about, but I keep trying.

I'm not sure of the pattern name, so I'm calling it by the quilting design, which I think fits well with the fabrics. I love the colors n this one!

Carla's Baby Panel

Carla made another very cute baby quilt using a panel and adding borders.

I quilted it with Popcorn and used Hobbs 80/20 batting and Omni white thread. Isn't it just the sweetest!

Chain-Link Fence

At the end of 2012, I had the pleasure of sewing a quilt for the newest Quilts from Quiltmaker 100 Blocks issue.

I was very happy with the finished quilt and so proud to have my name in print, but sad that I had to send it back to them.

Quilts for a good cause

One of my guild members has made about fourteen 52" square quilts to give to her county police officers to keep in their cars. She started this project in memory of those lost in the Sandy Hook Shootings. I have 3 of them to quilt and have done 2 of them.

Look at the wonderful variety of fabrics.

Debbie's Batik Squares

I'm not sure of the pattern name, but what a nice quilt! It's all batiks and makes me want to throw it over a rocker on the deck of a beach house. Well, if I had a beach house!

The colors are just wonderful! I chose Angel Wings Begonia as the quilting design because it reminds me of tropical waves. Hobbs 80/20 batting and Omni Lite spearmint thread.

Pam's Neutrals

Pam saw this quilt at a quilt show and purchased the kit. She wanted it quilted exactly like the sample, which was stippled.

Yikes, it's 96 x 77 so that's 7,392 square inches of 1/4" quilting, which adds up to almost 6,000 yards of thread.

Here's the whole quilt, which doesn't really catch my eye:

It's when you start to see it up closer that you can see how stunning it really is.

Here I am starting the last row and I told Dan that it was time for a glass of wine. By the shine in my eyes, you might think I had finished off an entire bottle, but that's not the case.

Each row took a full bobbin and about 30 minutes.

Linda's Winter Wonderland

Linda worked on the embroidery in this quilt for over 6 years. It is certainly beautiful! Her stitches are perfect!

The last one of these that I quilted I did some feathers in the rectangular border blocks and a loopy design in the squares border blocks. This time I just feathered all but the pieced blocks to give it some continuity.

Quilts For Kids

Last month I went to the sewing day for the Indiana Quilts For Kids and I made these two trip quilts.

I quilted them this week using Here Comes The sun panto, which I LOVE!, and used white Omni thread and one has Warm and Natural and one has Hobbs 80/20 batting.

I hope to get the binding on this evening so I can take them to tomorrow's sewing day.

If you are in the area and interested in sewing for this wonderful group, we will be at Bethany Presbyterian Church in the Fellowship Hall from 9-4. You don't have to bring a machine, but can if you want. There will be kits to choose from, cutting and ironing to be done if you don't want to sew.

All the quilts make through this group go to the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital in Indianapolis.
