Kendra's Bridal Shower

My grandson, Tony, is getting married in June and I made this quilt for his fiancee, Kendra. She collects elephants and when I saw this elephant fabric, Valori Wells Karavan Marrakech Peacock at fabric.com, I knew I had to make her a quilt.

How cute is this fabric?

The pattern, The Big EZ, is one that Marcia from Rossville quilts showed us at an Old Tippe Quilt Guild meeting. It is one she suggested for using large scale prints.

I chose Luau as the quilting design because the theme of the shower was tropical. Hobbs 80/20 batting and white Omni thread.

I also made the cake, following the beach theme:

The sand is Teddy grahams thrown into the food processor, and the shells are white and milk chocolate.
I made the cute little adirondack chairs the night before using this tutorial. They were supposed to be made with popcicle sticks, but I used some scrap plastic material that we print on at The national Group to make VIP tags and such.

Mary's Nine-Patch

Mary made this cute quilt. I don't know the name, but I'm sure it has something to do with twisted 9-patches.
I didn't take a closeup of the top and bottom borders, but if you look close you can see that the triangles that she whacked off the 9-patch blocks make up those borders. Ingenious!

I rather like how the quilting design mimics the swirly things from afar. I chose Turbulence panto, Honey PermaCore thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting.

Mary's Easter Bunny

Mary made this cute bunny twister quilt and I quickly got it quilted before Easter. I'm not sure if she had time to get the binding on before the big day.

I think she may have added some embelishments, like eyes and a mouth.

I quilted it with Cool Beans, by Quilts Complete, because of the jelly beans fabric. Omni Silver thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting.

Carla's Baby Quilt

Carla added some borders to this cute Corduroy the Bear panel to make a baby quilt for a co-worker.

One of my new panto's Cool Beans by Quilts Complete is the quilting, Light Blue Omni thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting.

Marissa's Asterisks

Say that three times really fast....it's difficult.

Marissa taught us to make these blocks at a guild meeting and made a charity quilt with our blocks. Then she made a quilt for her daughter, Reva. The pattern is actually called Daisiez, by the Australian designer,  Jan Mullen.

I wanted to add some movement so I used Turbulence panto by ClothWerx. Good choice, don't you think?

Lave - Mauna Loa thread, which is a variegated purple and Hobbs 80/20 batting.

Here's the back, a yummy mottled purple.

Quilts For Kids

Here are a couple more Quilts For Kids that I made. I taught a class to the volunteers on making this quilt. The pattern is from Mary Johnson, called Twisted Happy Blocks.

 Cute novelty fabrics and coordinating fabrics make for some very colorful quilts.

 Just a meander for the quilting and cotton batting.

 I have tons of this fabric, so it's on the back of both of them and the binding also.

Here's a close up of the machine stitched binding. The hospital would rather have the bindings done by machine than by hand, so I used this decorative stitch and it works our great.

Tiffany's baby shower

One of my coworkers, Tiffany, is expecting a baby girl later this month. We had a baby shower for her at Logan's Roadhouse a couple weeks ago.

Jen made the cutest little owl table decorations our of toilet paper rolls and scrapbooking paper.

 Criss made cute centerpieces with Pampers and added labels and the letters of Harper's name on the back sides of them.

 I made the cake, not perfect, but still pretty cute if I do say so myself. I looked at lots of owl cakes on Pinterest and this is what I chose.

 I added some owls to this tree and Jen bought a frame. We used ink pads and put our thumbprints on the branches for leaves and then we signed our leaf.
Didn't get a picture of it completed. Darn!

Southwestern Baby Quilt

Dan's niece in Denver just had a baby boy and she requested a Southwestern theme for his quilt. I did some searching online and found this embroidery design at emlibrary.com

 I drew the design out on graph paper and changed it up a bit, but I love how it turned out.

Omni lite tan thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting. A simple meander on this one. A close up of the fabrics:

I sent the quilt about a month ago and didn't know the baby's name as they were waiting to see him to make the final decision on his name. I found this cute wagon label in my label tote and sent along the fabric marker so that she could write in the baby's name.

How's this for a great backing fabric?

One more of Sharon's

This one is very similar to one I did a couple months ago. The size is different, but the blocks are the same.

 I chose Rhapsody panto for the quilting, Hobbs 80/20 batting and white Omni thread.

 I think it's a baby quilt and what baby wouldn't love it!

Sharon's Reproduction Quilt

Another quilt of Sharon's. Yes, I've been saving them for a while and decided it was time. I have several customers that bring a bag of quilt tops at one time and tell me to do them "whenever."

I guess whenever has arrived.

This is a Carol Hopkins Designs quilt and I just did a stipple in the background.

 A wavy line in the inner border.

Feather border with little loops inside.

 You can see the block quilting much better on the backing.

Linda's Flannel BOM

Linda made this quilt and I believe it was a block of the month at Quilter's Harvest. Remember that really cool quilt shop that is no longer in business? It was in an old church in Shadeland, Indiana.

Just a wonderful building to house a shop that specialized in Civil War fabrics. They had lots of other fabrics, too, cute baby fabrics, and lots of homespuns. There was a loft that they hung quilts from and I bought more than one pattern because I saw a quilt hanging there that I just had to make.

While searching for a photo of Quilter's Harvest, I came across this video that I hadn't seen before:

Anyway, back to Linda's quilt...it's flannel, so I didn't want a lot of heavy quilting.

 Lots of angles and some CCs, e's and l's.

 Did I say lots of angles? I didn't quilt the side borders as I went along, but instead, I unloaded it and turned it a quarter turn and re-loaded it so that I could do the length of ruler work with less stops and starts.
