here it is, halloween and I’m home watching dancing with the stars. just a few minutes ago I got a little “bling” notice it even thinking it’s my blog site (because it’s been like FOREVER since I’ve been here) that is getting unusually high activity. i’ve been doing my best to putting myself more out there in the yelp! community to thinking at all that I out my blogs it’s on my profile. now that my new yelp! friends just might be looking here, I really need to get myself together and really focus on the one thing I really enjoy doing….photography and exploring! not going to lie, being back in los angeles has been an extremely difficult adjustment for me. however, it’s something I have to push through. maybe the upcoming holidays will help me? I hope so! so please be patient with me and keep a lookout for new blogs to come! i’m looking forward to having you come on this journey with me! really this time! happy Halloween my friends!
vancouver aquarium
i’ve been wanting to visit the vancouver aquarium for some time now. it’s nestled in stanley park which is a mini central park in new york city. you can spend the whole day in this park. it’s huge! it’s beautiful! down around the corner there are a lot of shops that will rent you a bike for as cheap as $10 for the whole day. well, i can go on and on about this beautiful park but Saturday i was able to visit a small area where i got to see sea animals. my favorite things to watch are jelly fishes. don’t know why other then they are peaceful to me. there are so many different kinds it’s pretty unbelievable. and they are made up of 95% water!
i also got to sea sea enomies.
eels
crawfishes
and nemo!
i even got to experience the humid temperatures of the amazon rainforest. there was a sloth but waaay too far up in the trees to get a good look at it. maybe my next trip it won’t be so shy. one of my fears are reptiles. i don’t know what it is but even walking through the fish and reptile section of a pet store makes my hands sweat. here’s a picture of me in a frog aquarium bubble. ugh.
p.s. – sorry for the poor quality in photos. taking with my cell phone. 😦
a-maze-ing laughter
if you’re ever out and about along the English bay in the west end of Vancouver, you will run into these amazing statues. they are in morton park and once you see them it just automatically makes you want to smile! I mean why wouldn’t it? look at them! they are made of bronze and portrays the artist, yue minjun’s own image of “in a state of hysterical laughter”. it was created as part of the Vancouver international sculpture biennale which exhibits international contemporary works in public spaces. don’t you think every city should have something fun and positive in a public space? I sure do! the world needs things like this that just makes one smile or maybe go into a “hysterical laughter”!
heritage houses
Vancouver, british Columbia Canada is relatively a pretty young city. surprisingly only 128 years old. during these years, a lot of houses and building has come and gone. however, some houses stayed and are now called “heritage houses”. heritage houses are pretty cool. they are registered and have little plaques in front of the houses which tell the passer byers alittle about them. the though of owning one of these houses seem cool. but, to own one and keep it up to code to remain a heritage house is sort of difficult. when painting the exterior, you must use the original paint color. to replace anything in the house such as door knobs, they must be the original and so on. the first houses built in Vancouver were called Victorian, the came the queen anne, then Edwardian. below you will see one of the pictures of a heritage house. I love how the people on this street not only maintain the inside of these beautiful houses but also the outside.
and check out how they incorporate real bicycles to their yard! how precious is that?????
I love the detail and pride these homeowners take in their houses. I wish more people would do special things like this. I’m looking forward to walking through this neighborhood one evening when all the lights on these bicycles are twinkling.
I also want to leave you with one last photo that might make other homeowners want to do at their own home.
yup, put up doggie bags so the parents of puppies will hopefully pick up their baby’s poo so you don’t have too!
urban art & advertisement
wondering around the streets of vancouver, british Columbia can be interesting. for instance,
check out this clever advertisement for a plumber! this would surely catch my eye if I ever needed one. how funny is it! mr. swirl! swing by our “swell” website. hahaha! I love it!
or this…
and last but not least…
this cool snail dude! how cute and whimsical is this guy to have in front of your house???? this guy will be sure to bring a smile to your day when you pull up to your driveway.
there is soooo many cool things about this city and I’m excited to be posting again. please join me for this adventure through my eyes! you won’t be disappointed. i promise!
tokyo disneyland
so before heading to japan, my cousin’s wife calls and asked me if i’d like to go to Tokyo Disneyland since Disney was celebrating the 30th anniversary. i told her “totally”. BIG mistake! I’ve been to the California disneyland, disney world, tokyo disneyland (many times before this) and disneyland paris, i have NEVER seen soon many people in my life at any of these disney parks EVER! my cousin’s wife and i told each other that if it was just the two of us, we’d turn around, get a nice lunch and do some shopping in downtown tokyo. however, we couldn’t since her three children were with us and they were excited to go as any child would be. so after waiting in line for 1 1/2 hours
to get our ticket we ventured in. my cousin’s daughter asked me what i’d like to ride and i told her the buzz lightyear ride since I’ve never been on it. so off she ran for a fastpass. she returned with the time 5:30. 5:30 p.m.???? it’s only 9:00 a.m.! what???? Lord help me! as i waited in line, people came dressed up. some wearing funny hats like this:
finally made it to the entrance.
cinderella’s castle is always pretty. i especially like the 0 in the 30 that’s in the shape of mickey mouse’s head.
my cousin’s child and i were able to ride one ride after waiting forever. afterwards we all decided to have alittle lunch and ate this overpriced but cute hamburger.
after an uneventful day of not being able to go on anything but that one ride we decided to call it quits at 5:00p.m. i found myself exhausted not because i was there, but because of the amount of people that were there. unbelievable that disney would not put a limit on how many people are allowed. even though this wasn’t the best experience i had, i would go again. i’ll just make sure it’s not on a special holiday.
costco in japan
so my mom and i decided to pay a visit to costco in japan to see if it was the same as it is in the states. we also wanted to take a peek at what kinds of foods they sold there and the quantity due to the limited in space in a japanese house. this is a couple of pictures of what i saw.
the lines are the same.
and plenty of rice crackers are sold.
afternoon at sankei-en garden in japan
it has many ponds, streams, and a historic Japanese home with the traditional tatami flooring. it has a three story pagoda that was constructed in Kyoto in 1457! it’s unbelieveable that it’s that old!
my beautiful mom and her sister, my aunt. i love seeing the sisterly bond they share and seeing them laugh.
some of the awesome tall bamboo that grows.
intricate handcrafted tiles on the pagoda roof.
young Japanese couple posing for wedding pictures.
it was a great afternoon!
pug meet up at blackie spit park
our precious misha
before moving to Canada I joined a “meet up” so I can meet and make new friends. one of the “clubs” i joined was a “pug” meet up and last Saturday we took our pug misha to her first meet up. we met a lot of nice people and 11 pugs! it was so fun to see all of them all interact. there are several different pug meet ups that i plan on attending. here is a glimpse of the first meet up.
