Welp, I’m officially hooked…

As the title states, I am indeed officially hooked on drawing. Enjoying trying out different styles too and finding my niche. A part of me is like “why didn’t I start this earlier?” but I guess you can’t complain too much. Art is definitely a good outlet and you should definitely jump on the bandwagon with me hehe…

Anyway, what are you guys up to these days? Weather is definitely changing, but Autumn can be such a beautiful time of year.

Does anyone else like getting deliveries from Amazon?

Image

My Amazon package arrived today, and this is what I got inside (see pic above)

I’m pretty pleased with the items and you can probably tell from previous posts, I’ve been going through an artistic phase recently.

Hoping to get better at art in general and honestly didn’t think I would find myself as interested in the subject as I am now. It’s such a relaxing and theraputic activity. There’s a chance for you to paint and work on something that interests you. A chance to be expressive!

Here’s another drawing I did yesterday. I like the idea of drawing random objects, and an old converse shoe seemed like a good idea to me.

Anyway, hope you’re having a great week!

Learning to draw is the funnest thing!

Image

I’ve just started learning to draw and it is seriously the funnest, most relaxing thing on earth.

Finished my tropical fish this morning. I did a little tutorial online and was really happy with the results. What do you guys think?

I think next time I’d like to draw a horse or something.

Anyway, anyone reading this like to draw too? What do you like to draw? Let me know!

The weather is changing…

Right on cue this year, the weather has changed to a cooler, more rainy, Autumny type.

I’m missing the summer sun already, however admittedly ‘the grass is always greener,’ rule seems to apply to me every year. Whenever there’s sun, ‘it’s always too hot,’ but when it goes, you want it back again. Still, I am trying to be more content in the moment.

Anyway, I thought I’d share some photos of a recent bank holiday BBQ I had with my parents. The summer is meant for BBQ’s, and it was a really good enjoyable time. There’s also something fun about taking pictures of food, especially with the bright colours of the peppers and even the blue plate.

Back to the gym I go… (on the subject of exercise)

The benefits of running inside versus outside – FHC Sports Report

Yep, it’s true. The need is there. But the struggle for me is finding the motivation.

I am overweight. I love to eat food (not always the best type) Sometimes I find exercise boring. After a while my body tells me enough is enough – do some exercise! But does that mean I actually go to the gym? Sometimes… except for me, that’s the hardest part! Not the working out, not the weights, not the treadmill or the rowing machine, but actually getting myself there. Does anyone else have the same problem?

My second problem is consistency. So what can I do to keep myself continually going? Right now I don’t really know… I usually go for a month and then bail out eventually due to boredom, fatigue, or just pure laziness.

Still, the concern for my health is there. A part of me does want to be healthy. And even going for four weeks then stopping is still better than doing nothing. It’s just, do I have what it takes to continually go to the gym for a longer period of time and turn myself into an absolute fighting-fit gym beast? Still not sure…

Maybe I need to read some mind-changing gym psychology book or something? But for now the best I can do is to actually just go. So wish me luck!

And on the topic of exercising, I’d love to know how you like to exercise, whether it be on a walk, a jog, a home-workout, swimming or the gym? Let me know!

I had a good cafe experience this morning…

Good vibes, good chai latte, good cereal yoghurt, good cafe, good weather, good company…

(Wokingham, Brown Bag Coffee Shop)

Been applying for part-time jobs recently to supplement my current English tutoring job. Applied to a few different places, including Waterstones (which apparently is hard to get into, but would absolutely love to work there) Applied to a few other cafes… applying for jobs can be tough. There’s always so many people out there applying, you have to be patient.

THE BELL JAR

In other news I’ve started reading the book ‘The Bell Jar’ by Sylvia Plath. The opening scenes are so far quite funny, filled with sarcastic, tongue in cheek critisism of high-society in New York. There’s also a dark-side to it because the central character gradually becomes more and more disenchanted by society as a whole and falls deeper into mental health illness. Sylvia Plath definitely has talent, it’s quite clear from her writing, even if the topic material is quite sensitive. I look forward to finishing it.

Anyway, what was the highlight of your day? Mine was definitely the cafe this morning. Anyway, hope you have a great day!

What are you guys reading these days?

9 Coffee Table Books to Inspire A More Conscious Lifestyle - The Good Trade

I love a good book. I’m not one of those people that reads the whole time. I go through ‘on’ and ‘off’ phases where I really read nothing, and then read a whole load… and yes… you guessed it, I’m back reading a whole load again…

I’m a big lover of fictional books. I love a good character, an alternative universe, a good storyline. There’s something about immersing yourself in someone else’s creation for a good week or so that I find really enjoyable.

I love waking up, or going to bed and pulling out a book to read. But then you can’t forget beach reading, cafe reading, reading on a train. All those types are great too.

Right now I’m reading ‘Shadow Thieves,’ a new, middle-grade book with an Oliver Twist/Harry Potter-esque setting. It’s a great read and is basically about a young boy that becomes a professional thief and enrols in ‘thief school.’ It’s really creative and a fun world the writer has created. Would definitely recommend.

Anyway, I’ve typed enough. Just thought I’d let you guys know I’m enjoying reading again, and wanted to know what you guys were reading too? Let me know in the comments.

Learning the piano…

Image

It’s true, I’ve been learning the piano for the past year. To be honest it’s been diffcult at times and learning to read music has been a mind-boggling, unnatural thing for me. To be honest, I’m not even sure why I started (it’s stupid I know) but… through practise and continual effort, the rewards have definitely begin to outweigh the struggles (this is what I’ve found anyway) Found myself practising about an hour a day for the past 365 days, sometimes more… When you start to get the melodies right and you have more control of what you’re doing, the feeling of playing is really, really great 😀

What about you guys? What hobbies do you guys do? (don’t just say blogging, haha) Do you play any instruments?

Anyway, here’s a piece I’m working on for ABRSM grade 2 exam. It’s called THE SINGING SWAN – by ALEXIS FFRENCH (it is actually me playing!) Enjoy.

It has been a while!

Walks for Wellbeing timetable - Bracknell Forest Public Health Portal

Well… winter is nearly over! (thank the Lord!)

Have you been noticing the sun generally creeping into our days more? I have!

Colds have been less numerous too… Winter is officially, nearly over!

Even today, there was a fair bit of sun on my walk into town, with my Dad, despite it being only about 12 degrees outside. Still, the sun is out… and boy am I pretty happy about it.

I did however forget to take a photo of today’s sunshine for the blog (sorry) Although the picture above was taken in Berkshire, where I live, and kinda suggests how I’m feeling today. It’s a nice photo!

Anyway, It has been a majorly long time since I’ve posted, but I’ve had that inkling feeling of returning to WordPress in recent weeks. Today seems like a nice afternoon/evening to do it.

Ok, so how are you guys doing? It would be rude of me not to ask and just talk about myself continually, after having such a long break.

Leave a couple of comments in the comment section if you want to tell me how you’ve been these days, and what you’ve been up to!

Life is still the same old for me… yet new stuff has been happening as well. I still teach English as a Foreign Language. I still live in the same place, in the same apartment. I have however booked tickets to see family in the US this summer, which I’m super happy about. I’ve also started learning the piano (was thinking of posting some of my progress up on here) as well as just generally living life.

Who knows if I’ll keep posting on here? But for now that feeling of winter finally going has given me a good breath of life. Thanks for taking the time reading this.
