2/11/2010
Sixteen 8th graders were recently selected for induction into the Eleanor N. Hutchens Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. The ceremony took place in the Rhett Fine Arts Center, hosted on stage by Middle School Head Polly Robb, faculty sponsor Lea Chaffin, Director of Studies Jerry Beckman, and Head of School Byron Hulsey.
Five 9th grade honor society members conducted the Service of the Candles portion of the program, with Bailey Vincent describing the Light of Scholarship, Meghana Gaini describing the Light of Character, Hema Pingali describing the Light of Service, Rob Chappell describing the Light of Leadership, and Elizabeth Earles describing the Light of Citizenship. All of these qualities, and a 3.8 grade point average (3 semesters combined total), are requirements for membership.
The new 8th grade inductees were Miller Bethea, Sarah Bignault, Jason Dehorty, Evan Eichstaedt, Rahul Gaini, Chandler Hinson, Leah Honkanen, Zach Jokich, Meghna Katta, Avery Kennedy, Sheena Khan, Gina Liu, Ryan Murphy, Caroline Richardson, Grace Swaim, and Lydia Vergara.
Congratulations to all!

No Kneading involved
So i made rolls and I think they turned out pretty good for a first time...

well other than Willy burning the top pan because he didn't realize they were that close to the burner, just to rise not to be baked that way...

I don't have pictures but the tops were black, he flipped them over baked them and ate them regardless... this is a recipe from my friends grandmother..thanks friend, they were so very easy..and yummy!

15 Years...

I am a day late in posting this. I had every intention of doing so last night but then with our surprise visit, it never happened. December 29, 1994, 15 years ago, we married for time and all eternity in the Chicago Temple, it was a pivotal day in my life, i am so lucky to have Willy as my eternal companion & friend, and i look forward to many more happy years with him and our children. Thanks Honey!
Suprise Visit!
I had the best suprise, EVER last night. I got a phone call from my long-time best-est friend Nicole, she said she was in Chattanoga driving home from Virginia to Houston, TX. She mostly just wanted to say she would be in our state over-night. They had plans to stay in Birmingham for the night. I told her she had to come to my house ans spend the night, we are only 1 1/2 hours north of Birmingham, how could she pass up the chance. So after calling the hotel to cancel the reservation she drove to my house. I was so Stinkin Excited..I happened to be at our outdoor mall when she called and I did a jump for joy. Thanks Nic and Geoff...we loved your kids and it was a real highlight for me.

Christmas Spirit...
This year I have done more than I have ever done in the past, I cleaned all the daily stuff off our mantel and piano and gasp, decorated for Christmas with greenery, lights, snow globes on the piano, and nativities on the mantel. I cleaned off the kitchen counter that is bar height and put Santa and snow man and Christmas plates, I used greenery, lights and ribbons on the staircase, It took me two whole days to decorate, and then...I made cookies and treats for our friends and neighbors...I really enjoyed doing all this, Lydia wanted to know WHY? I have never done this before, and after thinking about it, I think it is because this is the first year in fifteen years that I am not pregnant, have a baby, or in school...whew...I actually had the energy to do something besides just make it through the day..:} Lydia didn't believe me so we did a time line, here it is..
